Chief Michael Geier of the Rio Rancho New Mexico Police Department sadly reports Officer Anthony Haase’s death.

Officer Haase, 24, was killed in a single vehicle crash as he was responding to a domestic violence in progress call. It was reported that a male subject was beating a woman and had threatened other family members with a gun.

Officer Haase had just left the Sandoval County Jail when the call came in at 2:54 a.m. Officer Haase was driving on Idalia Road toward the Northern Meadows subdivision when the crash occurred.

For reasons not yet known, Officer Haase’ Crown Victoria patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a drainage ditch, rolling over several times. Officer Haase died at the scene. His patrol vehicle was found rolled over off the roadway after he failed to arrive at the scene of the domestic call.

Officer Haase served the Rio Rancho Police Department for one year and served as a sworn officer for only five months. He is survived by his wife, children, parents, and siblings.

Officer Anthony Haase, gone, but never will be forgotten. EOW: Sunday, October 26, 2014.
