Chief Dennis Gibson, of the Chesapeake Police Department in Ohio sadly reports the death of Officer Aaron J. Christian.
Officer Christian, 24, died as a result of injuries he sustained in a single vehicle crash on September 18th. Officer Christian was on patrol at this time, Officer Christian lost control of his patrol vehicle.

Vehicle left the right side of the roadway struck a tree, a utility pole and then a guard rail. Vehicle then traveled down an embankment and overturned landing in a creek upside down.
Two citizens who witnessed the crash, ran to the scene and found Officer Christian face down in the creek as he had been ejected from the vehicle. They pulled Officer Christian out of the creek and up the embankment as the patrol vehicle burst into flames.
Officer Christian was transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia where he remained in critical condition in the ICU until succumbing to his injuries.

The crash investigation is being conducted by Troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and their Crash Reconstruction team.
Officer Christian served the Chesapeake Police Department for one year and had previously served with the Coal Grove Police Department. He is survived by his parents, siblings and a daughter.
