Sheriff Adam Christianson of the Stanislaus County Sheriff Department in California sadly reports the death of Deputy Sheriff Dennis Wallace.
Deputy Wallace, 53, was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle report at the Fox Grove Fishing Access parking lot. Deputy Wallace provided dispatch with the license plate number of the vehicle. When the Dispatcher advised that the vehicle was stolen, Deputy Wallace requested a backup officer. Deputy Wallace then got out of his patrol vehicle and inspected the vehicle.
When Deputy Christian Torres arrived on the scene, he found Deputy Wallace outside his patrol vehicle, suffering from two gunshot wounds to the forehead. One report indicated that Deputy Wallace was transported to a hospital where he died.
