Sheriff Marlin Gusman of the Orleans Parish Sheriff Department in Louisiana sadly reports the death of Deputy Sheriff Rodney Condall.

Deputy Condall, 50, suffered a fatal heart attack in the Old Parish Prison facility while he was working. He and other deputies rushed to assist another deputy who had called for assistance involving a fight between inmates.

Deputy Condall ran up a flight of stairs and suddenly collapsed. The other deputies rendered aid to Deputy Condall and the medical staff continued first aid and CPR. Deputy Condall was transported to a hospital where he later died about an hour later.

Deputy Condall served the Orleans Parish Sheriff Office for 16 years. Survived by his wife and two children.
