Sheriff Ron Hickman of the Harris County Sheriff Department in Texas sadly reports the death of Corrections Officer Tronoski Jones.

Officer Jones, 26, was dealing with an inmate who was being moved from a recreation area to his jail cell. During the movement, the inmate became argumentative and combative. During the contact with the inmate, Officer Jones suffered an emergency medical emergency during the altercation and collapsed. Detention officers secured the inmate while additional officers commenced CPR and provided emergency medical assistance to Officer Jones.

A jail doctor also arrived and provided medical assistance to Officer Jones. He determined that Officer Jones had not sustained any injury during his confrontation with the inmate during the confrontation.

Officer Jones was transported to local hospital, he passed away a short time later.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined via autopsy that Officer Jones died of long term heart disease.

Corrections Officer Jones served the Harris County Sheriff Department for three years and ten months. He is survived by his wife, two children, mother and siblings.
