Corrections Officer Timothy Betts 51, of the Indiana Department of Corrections collapsed Sunday afternoon while he and other corrections officers were moving an unruly inmate to an isolation cell following a disturbance in one of the pods.  He was assigned to work at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.

Other corrections officers that were with him when the inmate was being moved recognized that he had suffered a heart attack and immediately commenced administering CPR. They also used an AED in an attempt to start his heart beating again, to no avail.  He was transported to Sullivan County Community Hospital where he died at 2:41p.m.

Corrections Officer Betts served the Indiana Department of Corrections for 16 years and is survived by his wife Gloria, children, and grandchildren.
