The Premier of Quebec, Philippe Couillard sadly reports that the Service de Police de Lac Simon Quebec has reported the death of Constable Thierry Leroux.

Constable Leroux, 26, was shot and killed while he and his partner responded to a domestic violence call. As Constable Leroux and his partner approached the residence, a male fired a gun from within the home at officers. Constable Leroux was struck by the gunfire.

Constable Leroux was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his gunshot wound.
The suspected 22 year old shooter was found inside the residence deceased from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.

The Ministry of Public Safety and the Quebec Provincial Police are conducting the investigation.

Constable Leroux served the Service de Police de Lac Simon Quebec in the Anishnabe Nations Tribal area for six months. He is the first Canadian Law Enforcement officer to be killed in the line of duty this year.
