Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske, Commissioner of the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Patrol sadly reports the death of Border Patrol Agent Manuel Alvarez.
Agent Alvarez, 37, was killed in a motor vehicle crash as he was riding a departmental motorcycle south of Tucson near Sells, Arizona in the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation.
No information or specific details of how the crash occurred have been released. One report indicated that another Customs and Border Patrol Agent was involved in the crash, but no information has been released with respect to his condition or involvement in the crash.
Agent Alvarez was stationed at Casa Grande Station in the Tucson Sector. Agent Alvarez served the Customs and Border Patrol for thirteen years. He is survived by his wife, Jeanine, and their four children.
