New York just showed that they care more about illegal immigrants than they do about service members that die for our country.
A new bill in New York would have offered free college tuition for Gold Star families.
New York lawmakers killed that dream on Tuesday.

According to reports from Syracuse News, the board voted to not advance the measure, taking away any chance that it had to making it to a floor vote in this session.
IN THE NEWS: BEING NICE GOT THIS FLORIDA MAN KILLED
Just a week ago, New York passed its $175 billion budget for the 2019 year, in which $27 million was promised for tuition assistance for undocumented immigrants.
That’s right. People who live here illegally have more of a right to get an education than families of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, according to New York anyway…

Some lawmakers were quick to condemn the way the vote swung.

“It’s disgraceful,” said Assemblyman Gary Finch, R-Springport. “Soldiers who lay down their lives and make the ultimate sacrifice represent the best of us. The children they love so dearly deserve access to the opportunity and promise that is the hallmark of this country. I can’t imagine what’s in your heart when you vote ‘no’ on a bill like this.”
One source speculated that certain Democrats voted against the bill simply because they did not want to agree with a bill written by a Republican.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are at that point.

“We get so caught up in majority and minority issues here, we can’t see the forest through the trees,” one assemblyman said. “I don’t know how they don’t justify this.”
Guess how many people they anticipated would qualify for this bill if it passed…
Less than 500.

We couldn’t support 500 sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, spouses, or children who grew up with out a mother or father, simply because they felt the call to serve.
Wives who are struggling to find their way without their husband might be able to find new purpose by getting their degree. Kids might be able to take inspiration from a fallen parent and pursue a career with purpose.
But not with the help of our elected leaders…

Becoming a Gold Star family is often referred to as ‘the honor no one wants.’ These are the immediate family members of someone in the military who gave their life defending our country during a time of war.
So how is it that in 2019, we are giving money to help people who are breaking the law but can’t spend some taxpayer money to give back to people willing to die to protect our freedoms?
Somewhere along the way… we got lost.

Judges are freeing murderers and rapists from prison sentences. In New York in December, New York Governor Cuomo granted clemency to 29 convicts. Among them were four who were serving long sentences for murder.
Why? Because he seemingly wanted to send a message to President Trump.

In total, 22 inmates were pardoned. Nine more had sentences commuted. Four of those were sentences for murder and three were for armed robbery.
Among those who were given pardons were several immigrants who were facing possible deportation. Now they can be with their families, the governor said.

“These actions will help keep immigrant families together and take a critical step toward a more just, more fair and more compassionate New York.”
That’s right. The governor who just freed those implicated in the deaths of others is talking about keeping families together.

Immigration is without a doubt one of the reasons why our country is so great. Our diversity that brings the corners of the world together in a melting pot only helps to build our nation.
But we need to do this right.
If you want to be a part of our country, great. But start by showing us that you respect our laws. Show us that you respect our land. Show us that you respect our people.

Come here the right way. Show us why your presence makes us better, and let’s build our future the right way.
And until then… let’s take care of the people willing to sacrifice everything to protect our right to be free.
