PORTLAND, OR - Moses J. Lopez, 30, a man identifying as a transgender woman, showed no remorse for his actions last week while accepting what was described as a "sweetheart deal" from Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Shmidt. Lopez told the court, "I refuse to apologize for the lack of help that I so desperately needed."

Lopez was convicted of brutally stabbing 43-year-old Radio Cab driver Reese McDowell Lawhon to death with a brass-knuckle punch-dagger. The killer reportedly smiled as the victim's mother read about her family's suffering.

As reported by The Post Millennial, the unprovoked, fatal attack was captured on video from inside the cab and shows Lopez sitting silently in the back of the cab wearing a tiara and women's clothing. The Oregonian observed that Lopez attempted to justify the shocking attack with everything ranging from a lost debit card to the cabbie mishearing the destination address in a garbled phone call.

Regardless of the ultimate cause, at the time of the attack, Lawhon was already en route to the correct address at 8:40 p.m. April 9, 2023.

Lopez was sentenced by Circuit Judge Heidi Moawad to just 22 years for manslaughter and two years for unlawful use of a weapon.

Prior to the fateful cab ride, Lopez was reportedly partying in downtown Portland until suffering some manner of crisis and dialing 911 to request a ride home. The 911 operator advised Lopez to take a cab home, and the dispatcher entered the wrong address into the company's system.

“I ended up in a very scary part of town where I was genuinely afraid,” Lopez said according to the outlet. “I refuse to apologize for the lack of help that I so desperately needed.”

The assailant claimed that because he identifies as transgender, he is afraid of being targeted. According to reports, Lawhon asked Lopez to confirm the correct destination address outside of a downtown donut shop where he made the pickup. Not long after, Lopez lunged into the front of the car from behind and brutally stabbed Lawhon in the neck.

The victim's mother, Ginger Lawhon, addressed the court remotely and said, “Words cannot express the horror, pain and finality of this crime. Reese’s death was senseless and we are more than heartbroken. However, we refuse to define his life by this ending.”

One of Lawhon's two sisters, Claire Pearce told the court, "We tell our kids so many times that monsters aren’t under the bed or in the closet, but it’s all a lie. Moses Lopez is a monster and will always be one."

Lopez reportedly smirked at the comment. Seeing the reaction, one of the two defense attorneys frowned visibly and shook her head, according to the Oregonian.

Pearce added, "When Moses gets out in 20 years, assuming she’s still alive, and I hope she’s not, I look forward to testifying against her, whatever senseless crime she commits next, because she will,” KATU reported.

Lawhon’s other sister, Natalie Boenker said, "I am haunted daily by what Reese must have felt in those last 45 seconds. I wonder, was he scared? Did he think of us? Was he in pure shock? And was he in pain?”

Lopez did address the family's comments, but did not apologize for killing Lawhon, according to The New York Post. Lopez said,
“I want you to know that I accept the way that you feel. I am sorry for what happened and I am sorry that you lost someone you loved. I hope that someday something can bring you peace to your soul.”

Four days before attacking Lawhon, Lopez was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, trespassing, and weapons charges for allegedly threatening two employees at a Coos County Bi-Mart. Lopez was released without bail according to Post Millennial, and failed to appear in court on April 6 per KATU.

Put him down. Death is the only correct response!

True story. However, the cross-dresser is only a symptom -- while his enablers are the disease.

Well "Judge Heidi"....if he goes into General Population, your sentence will be reduced to 22 days, or weeks but I seriously doubt it will extend to 22 months or years. Let's hope the Prison Authorities don't stick him in protective isolation - or a women's prison.

Everyone tired and sickened by this degeneracy, injustice, and lawlessness has a clear and obvious solution to demand: a return to USA's biblical foundation. Under a Christian worldview, women would not be judges. This is to prevent, among other things, women's natural tendency to prioritize mothering over justice: a shortcoming that this she-judge exhibited -- and that she-judges, in general, routinely exhibit. Also, under a Christian worldview: the punishment for murder is death. Thus, under a Christian worldview, mere jail would accrue to no lawless killer -- least of all a degenerate cross-dressing man who mocks women through caricatured mimicry. Indeed, under a Christian worldview, the degenerate cross-dresser would have learned consequences far sooner.

22 years with no chance for parole is good, a hanging would be better

Tom

Exactly, save the ammo and drugs, go for an old fashioned hanging like they did to Saddam Hussein or like they did in the old west!!

Allen

Leave to some plae like Portland. Should have been life if not a death sentence and as usual, it is always someone else's fault

Tom

So the deranged and mentally ill criminal claimed to be "afraid of being targeted for being transgender" in a STATE that is mostly left leaning and accepting of mentally ill transgender people while HE chose to carry a brass knuckle dagger and attacked an innocent person that was driving HIM home. If these people weren't so dead set on being transgender and just stay the gender they were born as they wouldn't have a reason to feel threatened or rage against others for misgendering them.
