Hundreds of Antifa supporters, many in riot gear, march through New York City, attack female journalist

MANHATTAN, NY- On Sunday, January 10th, a group of approximately 25 demonstrators wearing black bloc and carrying defensive shields formed up at an intersection in Manhattan to march to Times Square.

Independent journalist Any Ngô posted a video of a militia of Antifa members marching to claim ownership of the public space.

As a larger crowd of protester assembled behind their formation, the marchers chanted, “Whose (expletive) streets? Our (expletive) streets” and “What’s that noise? (expletive) the Proud Boys.” Black Lives Matter activist Joshua Potash captured video showing the march through the streets.

The march grew in numbers as it made its way through Times Square.

Social media journalist Tara Szczpanski reported being assaulted by some from the protest.

She reported having an egg smashed on the back of her head. In the video she tweeted, she is seen being assaulted by at least two men. One sprayed her with a chemical string and another appeared to strike her with a skateboard.

Some in the crowd shouted at her, “She’s a (expletive) Nazi.” Before the man with the skateboard strikes her, someone shouted, “She supports Trump, why are you protecting her?”

A second video reportedly shows her being harassed and attacked by a larger group. A person outside of camera-view reaches in and smashes an egg on the back of her head. Szczepanski rushed to nearby NYPD police officers and as she does so, appears to be assaulted again.

She claims that when she reached the officers, they told her to “stay 6 feet from them” and that they “let her be attacked.” In the video she posted, it does not seem that any officer told her to stay away.

In the video, an individual wearing a cop costume and a pig mask is seen pushing a microphone in her direction. In another video posted by Potash, that same individual is seen harassing police officers trying to maintain the peace.

The New York Post reported that as hundreds of Antifa protesters marched through Midtown Manhattan, they chanted “Burn it down” as they passed an NYPD substation. The group marched from Central Park down to Madison Square Park.

The group was led by two dozen members carrying shields and wearing helmets. According to authorities, there were no reports of violence and no arrests made. Only Szczpanski and her online videos claimed any type of violence.

The Daily Mail reported that an Antifa group in New York claimed the march was an “anti-fascist victory” after few Trump supporters turned out to challenge them, saying that “MAGA and the Proud Boys didn’t show up because we mobilized.”

The New York City protest came a day after clashes between Trump supporters and Antifa protesters in San Diego. Reportedly, rocks, bottles, and eggs were thrown at police during what was declared an unlawful assembly.

Footage of the protest showed black-clad Antifa protesters throwing a folding chair and spraying a chemical irritant at another group of people on the Pacific Beach boardwalk.

Federal and state officials are said to be working together in all 50 states to monitor online chatter about efforts to organize protests that could lead to further violence in the days leading up to and including inauguration day.

Brian Harrell, former Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary said that he expects much more substantial security will be implemented prior to the inauguration. He said that the biggest threats to the event will be an active shooter scenario, vehicle ramming, and the deliberate targeting of critical infrastructure.

Police, Trump supporters violently attacked by Black Lives Matter and Antifa supporters in San Diego

January 10th, 2021

SAN DIEGO, CA – A peaceful, scheduled protest by pro-Trump supporters was attacked by members of Black Lives Matter and the left-wing radical movement Antifa Saturday. The attackers also threw rocks, eggs, and glass bottles at police trying to restore order.

Pro-Trump supporters had scheduled a protest along Ocean Front Walk for early Saturday afternoon on the Pacific Beach Boardwalk. A flyer called the event a “patriot march.” The event was scheduled prior to the attack on the Capitol Wednesday.

Trump supporters gathered peacefully when a larger group of counter-protesters confronted them.

A video tweeted by Fox5’s Paul Makarushka showed some Trump supporters standing in a small group when about 100 counter-protesters approached, many dressed in black outfits often associated with Antifa. One person waved an “Antifaschistische” flag, the symbol of the Antifa movement.

The much larger group began yelling at the Trump supporters, and some could be heard shouting, “Fuck Trump.” Counter-protesters began surrounding the group of Trump supporters, who were being backed against a wall.

During the confrontation, one man identifying himself as a Black Lives Matter activist told Ruptly:

“Well, I mean we’re here today because a bunch of fascists decided they were going to come down and throw a rally in Pacific Beach, so we came down here to reject them.”

A pro-Trump protester said:

“There was supposed to be a rally down here with music for our friends. And then these freaking paramilitary freaks came and decided to march and attack.”

The two groups exchanged words, and then a man dressed in all-black battle fatigues sprayed the pro-Trump group with pepper spray. Trump supporters turned and began moving away choking, but the attackers followed.

One man could be seen carrying a wooden baseball bat. Another man threw a wooden folding chair at a Trump supporter who was running away.

A Trump supporter fell to the ground, and left-wing attackers swarmed over him, beating and kicking him. Some Trump supporters attempted to help the man but were held back by the attackers by throwing eggs and physical assault. The video ended at that point.

Police began to arrive and were confronted by the attackers, who began throwing eggs and glass bottles at them. Police eventually declared an unlawful assembly and riot police moved in. The two groups were separated around 2:30 p.m.

Police tweeted:

“The demonstration/protest at Hornblend St. & Mission Blvd has now been declared an unlawful assembly due to acts of violence.  Please clear the area and head away from the scene.

“Those who remain or return against this lawful order may be cited/arrested and risk exposure to chemical agents & less-lethal force applications.”

Shortly before 3 p.m., San Diego police released a tweet stating officers had been struck by a glass bottle and eggs. Rocks and eggs were thrown at officers, and pepper spray was being directed toward the police from the crowd.

According to a report from The Los Angeles Times, officers fired what appeared to be pepperball rounds into the Antifa crowd during one confrontation.

Around 4:30 p.m., pro-Trump supporters regathered to continue their lawful protest. Police allowed the group to continue protesting, saying:

“We will continue to monitor both groups to help facilitate peaceful protests. However, we will not tolerate acts of violence. When rocks, bottles, pepper spray, and other objects are thrown or used on our officers, actions will be taken against those who commit violent acts.”

Police remained in the area and reported that both groups had left by 6 p.m. Police tweeted:

“We will always facilitate peaceful protests. However, we will not tolerate acts of violence.”

San Diego is home to Ashli Babbitt, the 35-year-old Air Force veteran who was shot and killed by police during the uprising at the United States Capitol on Wednesday. She lived in Ocean Beach with her husband.

Ocean Beach is about five miles from Pacific Beach, where the confrontation occurred.

Portland Mayor admits failure in dealing with Antifa, asks for federal, state help

January 2, 2021

PORTLAND, OR – For months now, many have wondered when someone was going to try to put a stop to the all out chaos raging through the streets of Portland. From Antifa burning buildings to the ground and attacking police officers, to residents and business owners fleeing, Portland has officially lost control.

Now, Portland’s Mayor, Ted Wheeler, has finally come to his senses it seems, and has admitted his flawed approach when dealing with Antifa, in addition to asking for federal and state assistance to help put an end to all of the madness taking place.

On New Year’s Day, Wheeler said in a press conference:

“My good-faith efforts at de-escalation have been met with ongoing violence and even scorn from radical Antifa and anarchists,”

He continued:

“In response, it will be necessary to use additional tools and to push the limits of the tools we already have to bring the criminal destruction and violence to an end.”

The Mayor went on to say:

“It’s time to push back harder against those who are set on destroying our community and to take more risks in fighting lawlessness,”

The Mayor’s remarks follow the violent Antifa attacks on New Years Eve that Law Enforcement Today reported on. The New Year’s Eve celebrations in Portland reportedly “devolved” into riotous acts, with fireworks and other incendiary devices being lodged against the federal courthouse and law enforcement within the city.

LET reported that according to reports from Portland Police, firebombs were said to have been hurled at police officers and fireworks were aimed at the courthouse, which has been the target of rioters for most of 2020:

“A gathering in downtown Portland has devolved into a riot. Participants have thrown multiple firebombs at officers and launched commercial grade fireworks at the Federal Courthouse and Justice Center.”

The firebombs described by the PPB were later clarified to have resembled Molotov cocktails, in which two of them were reportedly thrown by members within the amassed crowd.

In an announcement made on Twitter, the PPB declared the gathering to be a riot and instructed all those in the area to clear out:

“The violence from the crowd has prompted a declaration of a riot. All persons in the area of Southwest 3rd Avenue around Southwest Main Street are ordered to leave to the south and west immediately.”

“If you do not leave you are subject to arrest, citation, and/or the use of force, including but not limited to impact weapons and tear gas.”

“We should be clear what this was last night, it was about violence and criminal destruction, period,”

Mayor Wheeler called upon federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners to work with him to develop “clear plans to address anarchist violence.” He also asked the Oregon Legislature to increase the penalties for people who engage in repeated acts of criminal destruction and vandalism, according to Breitbart.

In his New Year’s Day statement, Wheeler made an attempt at sounding authoritative, saying:

“We need more accountability and we need to hold people responsible for their criminal conduct.”

Following the apology statements, Wheeler admitted his lack of authority and enforcement of the laws may have added to the chaos.

According to Breitbart, Mayor Wheeler said in an article published by The Oregonian:

“I hope it is not an ongoing phenomenon,”

He continued:

“Our objective is to protect lives and end the occupation. And nobody should take this as an invitation to do it anywhere else. The end result could turn out very differently.”

The mayor claimed that he did not understand how when most people should be focused on hope and the future in the New Year, others can cause such destruction, saying:

“hope and optimism that can come with the dawn of a new year, why would a group of largely white, young and some middle-aged men, from all reports, destroy the livelihood of other people who are struggling to get by?”

He continued:

“It’s the height of selfishness,”

He concluded his statement by saying:

“There are just some people who want to watch the world burn. That’s what we’re up against here.”
