FBI now says group plotted to “target and kill police” to instigate a “civil war”. Here’s why law enforcement is on high alert.

LANSING, MI – The newly revealed details of the plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer also now have families of law enforcement on high alert.

Federal investigators have now said that the group of extremists accused of planning the crime also allegedly plotted to “target and kill police” in order to instigate a “civil war.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation closed the months-long investigation into the threat earlier this month. With that, the FBI also arrested 13 suspects who reportedly planned to violently overthrow law enforcement and government agencies.

In an interview with the Detroit Free Press, Michigan State Police First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said local departments have since upped security measures.

He said:

“We’re cautious. We’re absolutely more careful. Law enforcement is the face of the government. If you’re mad at the government, you’re mad at the police. This is one of the tactics these anti-government, domestic terrorism groups use.”

Investigators have said that members of the group called on followers to dig up home addresses for police officers and other members of law enforcement. The idea was to target officers, while planning the violent attack on Michigan’s state capitol.

A criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court on October 6 reads:

“The militia group had already been brought to the attention of the FBI by a local police department in March 2020 when members of the militia group were attempting to obtain the addresses of local law enforcement officers.

“At the time, the FBI interviewed a member of the militia group who was concerned about the group’s plan to target and kill police officers and that person agreed to become a CHS (confidential human source).”

It is not a unique situation for law enforcement. The industry has become a target for radicals and extremist groups at both ends of the political spectrum.

Retired Police Chief and current Executive Director of the Michigan Police Chiefs Association Bob Stevenson said investigators work hard to identify and neutralize threats.

In a remark to The Police Tribune, he said:

“The threat is always there, but this raises it to another level of alarm when you start to target the officers when they’re not in their uniform, not on duty, not working. Now they’re tracking you.”

Stevenson said he views all extremist groups as dangerous:

“We’re not under the illusion that because someone’s politics are left or right that they’re not dangerous.”

Since the time of their arrests, it has been widely reported that at least two of the thirteen suspects have prior military training.

The Detroit Free Press reported that suspect Joseph Morrison served in the Marine Corps Reserve since 2015.

The 26-year-old’s military role ended on October 8 when he was charged under the state’s anti-terrorism law.

23-year-old Daniel Harris was a Marine Corps rifleman from 2014 until 2019, according to another report from the Detroit Free Press.

He has now been federally charged with planning to kidnap and overthrow Michigan’s governor.

There is also evidence that points to internal training for other members of the group, including weapons trainings, surveillance, explosives building and communication via encrypted messages.

Security experts have described the planned attack as “a sophisticated terrorist plot.”

The Washington Post said that Harris attended a Black Lives Mater protest back in June, prior to his arrest.

The FBI has said it opened an investigation into the group earlier this year after social media discussions about the violent overthrow of law enforcement and state governments drew the attention of agents.

The FBI’s report said:

“The group talked about creating a society that followed the U.S. Bill of Rights and where they could be self-sufficient.  They discussed different ways of achieving this goal from peaceful endeavors to violent actions.”

Report: One of the men arrested for plot to kill police was previously pardoned by Democrat governor

October 11, 2020

LANSING, MI – On October 8th, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that they had taken six people into custody for a failed plot to kidnap the democratic governor of Michigan and kill police officers.

Of course, the mainstream media and democrats all try to point the finger at the President as the cause, now we learn that one of the suspects had been previously pardoned by a democratic Governor for the State of Delaware.

Barry Gordon Croft, Jr., one of the alleged suspects in the kidnapping and police killing plot, had faced numerous charges in Delaware during the 1990’s.  His charges ranged from assault, burglary, to possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Democratic Delaware Governor John Carney reportedly authorized a pardon for Craft.

Carney received the recommendation for a pardon of Craft from the Delaware Board of Pardons.  There are no recorded minutes of their meetings, so it is unknown what was presented to make them want to push forward with the pardon.

Bethany Hall-Long, the Democratic Lieutenant Governor of Delaware chairs the Board of Pardons.  Long told the News Journal that pardons are only given to the governor when they met certain criteria.  She said that is when:

“[The] position of the Department of Justice, the nature of the incident(s), the time lapsed from the last conviction, and the impact on employment and housing.”

Seems as if burglary, assault, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony meets those criteria.

Not only did the Board of Pardons and Carney believe that it was a good idea to pardon Craft, so to did Democratic Attorney General Kathy Jennings.  Her spokesman, Mat Marshall, said:

“It appeared to everyone involved that his [Craft] offenses were in his past and that he had gotten himself on the right track…Croft’s actions are horrific and another reminder about the rising tide of political violence by so-called ‘militias,’ the boogaloo boys, the Proud Boys, and other extremist groups.”

Croft was one of the six men that were arrested in the plot to kidnap Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.  Croft and his group, the Wolverine Watchman, were allegedly trying to incite a civil war by attacking the state Capitol and killing police officers.

Federal authorities also have alleged members of this group and been conducting surveillance around Whitmer’s vacation residence to determine her comings and goings and matters of security.  They are also accused of a plan to place a bomb under a bridge in order to draw law enforcement attention away from what they were really planning and doing.

Other members of the group were arrested along with Croft at a residence in Hartland, Michigan.  The additional five people were Adam Fox, Ty Garbin, Kaleb Franks, Brandon Caserta, and Daniel Harris.

Whitmer and other democrats blamed the plot on President Trump and his supposed support of white supremacist groups.  Never mind that the President has denounced these groups several times and is pushing to designate the KKK as a terrorist organization, but they said it so it must be true.  Whitmer said:

“Hate groups heard the president’s words as a rallying cry, as a call to action.”

Not sure what words she is accusing the President of saying, but, let’s be real, neither is she.  However, beyond lying that it is somehow President Trump’s fault, word has been trickling out that shows that this specific group has more ties to liberalism then they ever could to the Republican Party or the President.

One of the alleged suspects, Caserta, was known for his very public hate of the President and was even featured in one of his online posts calling him a “tyrant.”  A line straight out of the democratic talking points.

Another alleged suspect, Daniel Harris, was known to attend at least one Black Lives Matter Protest in June of this year.  According to Lawrence Hurley:

“One of the alleged plotters, 23-year-old Daniel Harris, attended a Black Lives Matter protest in June, telling the Oakland County Times he was upset about the killing of George Floyd and police violence.”

A man who is believed to be the same Daniel Harris, is quoted in the Oakland County Times while he was at a Black Lives Matter event in Michigan saying:

“It is a shame what happened with George Floyd and instances where law enforcement officers murder an unarmed man/woman who isn’t resisting arrest, was complying with the orders is wrong and need to be stopped…

“We went to the BLM protest yesterday in Lake Orion to show our support that everyone’ voice should be heard, no matter the color of your skin.  Protesting is important to me because it gives us all a voice to be heard.”

While the democrats may tell everyone that the people involved in this plot are ultra-right-wing individuals, it is very clear, by at least these two examples, that is far from the truth. Specifically, Harris, who, unless he was attempting to provide a very elaborate cover, is not a white supremacist.  Were any of them?
