The vehicle occupied Rhonda Pasek, 50, and James Acord, 47, was spotted by East Liverpool Police Department, Officer Kevin Thompson while it is weaving erratically. The Officer Thompson, who wasn’t even on duty yet, followed the vehicle as it passes along the road where a school bus dropping off children. Fortunately, the driver hit the brake and skidded to a stop avoiding any collision.
Jessica Haberley reported that the officer took the key out of the ignition when Acord tried to drive away but it wasn’t long before he too, lost consciousness.
The City Police have expressed their concern when they posted on their Facebook Page and attached the graphic photo.
They said they are sorry if some may be offended but their intention is to make the “non-drug using public” to see what they are now dealing with on a daily basis and the effect of the poison known as heroin on many communities.
“We feel it necessary to show the other side of this horrible drug. We feel we need to be a voice for the children caught up in this horrible mess. This child can’t speak for himself but we are hopeful his story can convince another user to think twice about injecting this poison while having a child in their custody.”
” We are willing to fight this problem until it’s gone and if that means we offend a few people along the way we are prepared to deal with that.”
The four-year-old boy was taken into custody by county children’s services.
Pasek, who’s the grandmother of the boy, see the attached video, were charged with endangering children.
Pasek pleads not guilty to child endangerment and public intoxication charges. Acord, on the other hand, pleads guilty to the charges against him which included operating a vehicle while intoxicated and endangering children.
