Governor says Trump isn’t helping Michigan. Won’t let anyone verify assistance through formal channels.

MICHIGAN – Michigan’s Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer claims that the federal government isn’t – or wasn’t – helping the people of Michigan.

Not only is that a false statement, but she won’t let anyone verify the assistance through formal channels.

This is just like when Trump sent millions to Puerto Rico for hurricane relief and the majority of supplies rotted away in aircraft hangers while the governor there and the mayor of San Juan cried foul and claimed Trump wasn’t supporting their people.

This is also like the recent conundrum NY Governor Andrew Cuomo found himself in where he claimed the government wasn’t helping provide ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it turns out he was sitting on thousands of the units – and playing political poker against the President.

Same dangerous game, different person and location.

Mary Papenfuss of the Huffington Post wrote that Trump spoke directly about Governor Whitmer to Sean Hannity of Fox, stating that he didn’t like to see the complaints when he was certainly helping their state.

Evidently, the governor tried to call the president during that very interview and she couldn’t get through to him, and in turn, trashed him the next day to a local Michigan radio station.

Gov. Whitmer said in her radio interview on Friday that “medical supply vendors informed her they’ve been told ‘not to send stuff’ to her state amid the battle against COVID-19.”

She didn’t explain if the alleged orders came from Trump or perhaps if vendors had been intimidated by Trump’s public feud with her.

She appeared to link the issue to the president, though, since she told WWJ-AM in Detroit that she’d tried to call the White House to discuss it.

Whitmer told WWJ:

“When the federal government told us that we needed to go it ourselves [on medical supplies], we started procuring every item we could get our hands on.

But what I’ve gotten back is that vendors with whom we had contracts are now being told not to send stuff here to Michigan.”

She added:

“It’s really concerning. I reached out to the White House last night, asked for a phone call with the president, ironically at the time that all this other stuff was going on.”

Well, he WAS doing a live interview with Hannity about this very subject at the time.

Wayne Dupree reported that even though the Michigan governor and the president have had a “back and forth,” Michigan is getting the relief they need via Trump’s emergency declaration this past Saturday.

From waynedupree.com:

“Whitmer said in a news release she appreciates the approval as ‘a good start,’ but said the federal government has not approved Michigan’s request in full.

Separately, Whitmer announced Saturday that Michigan has received a shipment of 112,800 N95 masks from the strategic national stockpile, with an additional shipment of 8,000 masks on the way.

The approvals came despite Trump’s public complaints as recently as Friday that Whitmer has not shown sufficient appreciation for what his administration has done to fight the pandemic.

Trump attacked Whitmer on Twitter Friday and said on Fox News Thursday that Whitmer’s criticism of federal planning and action has not been ‘pleasant.'”

In a section posted on truepundit.com, a quip from Crain’s Detroit further enhanced the governor’s statement back with conspiracy theory, with no actual sources or proof:

“Whitmer didn’t say who had told vendors to stop sending medical supplies to the state, but strongly implied the order ‘came from President Trump’s administration.’  She didn’t back off from her earlier claims during an interview with CNN late Friday.”

Liberal playbook:

Make outlandish claims that explode emotional tension and warrant reactions.  Liberals are driven by emotional responses, not facts and logic.

Never substantiate the claims with any actual source.  Only conservatives need to cite actual sources.

Double down and reiterate previous made-up stories about the president to quantify the current “story.”  Make as many appearances as possible.

Reemphasize the emotional toll on people for the alleged (false) accusation.  “But look what the mean orange man did to our PEOPLE!” (Secondary emotional response)

Rest assured it will be impactful, since the mainstream media will take the ball and run with it, and a week later when the truth comes out, no one will care.
