Former WA State Democrats deputy field organizer among 2 charged in terror attack, detailed on ‘anarchist website’

SEATTLE, WA – Federal charges have been brought against two individuals for allegedly trying to compromise train tracks near Bellingham in Whatcom County by placing “shunts” onto the tracks.

These “shunts” are said to have the capacity to disrupt “the low level electrical current on the tracks and can disable various safety features,” which can result in a domino effect up to even derailments.

And according to a report from the Post Millennial, one of the accused is even  a former Washington State Democrats deputy field organizer.

The Department of Justice announced the charges against 27-year-old Samantha Frances Brooks and 23-year-old Ellen Brennan Reiche on November 30th, with both being charged with terrorist attack on a railroad facility.

U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran had been the one to announce the charges against the two, making mention on how railroads have become a target as of late with regard to terrorist attacks:

“Since January there have been 41 incidents of shunts placed on the BNSF tracks in Whatcom and Skagit counties—causing crossing guards to malfunction, interfering with automatic braking systems, and, in one case, causing the near-derailment of tanks of hazardous chemicals.”

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force has been taking a closer look into instances where “shunts” have been placed on train tracks ever since they began cropping up in January.

According to the DOJ, a “shunt” is composed of and accomplishes the following:

“The shunt is comprised of wire and magnets that are stretched between the tracks, disrupting the systems that indicate a train is on the tracks.”

Ten out of the 41 incidents recorded so far saw these “shunts” strategically placed “in areas that disrupt the crossing guards where the tracks cross streets,” which the DOJ noted could result in unsuspecting vehicle operators being struck by trains when crossing over tracks.

One of the most near-catastrophic incident was said to have occurred on October 11th, when numerous “shunts” were placed in three different locations in Whatcom and Skagit Counties.

What said “shunts” triggered was the automatic braking system on the train that was transporting hazardous and combustible material. A portion of the train wound up decoupling, which when that transpires, can result in a derailment.

While luckily a derailment did not happen that evening in October, it could have resulted in “tanker cars of flammable gas,” toppling through a residential area.

The DOJ report noted that an “anarchist website” had even published “a claim of responsibility” following the January 19th incident. Turns out that website is none other than “It’s Going Down” – a popular website used to spread the ideology of Antifa enthusiasts.

According to the post shared online by the website on January 22nd, the website noted that “The Following Communique Was Sent To It’s Going Down Anonymously, Which We Reprint Below,” in an effort to absolve them from sharing literal instructions on committing acts of terrorism against the BNSF railroad tracks.

The post shared by ITG, from the perspective of the anonymous author, explained in great detail how they were able to “interrupt” the supply chain from Washington to Canada by describing a method employed that only “shunts” could pull off:

“[W]e disrupted the high volume railway that moves resources from the active ports of Everett, Edmonds, Seattle, and further south to the Blaine border crossing into Canada. We were able to interrupt the track circuit used to detect the presence or absence of a train on the tracks.”

“With high resolution maps, Google Street view, good scouting, and a little flexibility, this tactic is fast and discreet. On a single rail track with a Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) system, this simple action can generate enough confusion in the system to cause big slow downs and bureaucratic delays.”

“You should do this too.”

Well, according to the DOJ, it seems Brooks and Reiche took a page right out of that call to action on November 28th.

BNSF Police were said to have observed via video surveillance two people kneeling on the tracks near a crossing in Bellingham. When Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies caught up with the suspects at the scene, they’d happened upon Brooks and Reiche.

A “shunt” was reportedly found applied to the tracks where the suspects were observed on camera and the two suspects were in possession of a bag containing wire, a drill with a brush head attached and some rubber gloves.

The DOJ report noted that the wire seized from the suspects happened to be of the same ilk sued in other incidents involving “shunts”.

In a reportedly now-deleted LinkedIn profile, Reiche happened to be the deputy field organizer for Washington State Democrats.

Both of the accused were said to have made their first appearance in federal on November 30th and the next court appearance is slated for December 14th. The duo could face up to 20 years in federal prison, but have surprisingly been afforded pre-trial release.

All this comes as an international law enforcement training organization is facing scrutiny after it distributed a document that referred to Black Lives Matter activists and Antifa members as “terrorist” organizations.

The International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA), an organization based out of Indiana, provides training and educational materials to law enforcement agencies on five continents. According to the website, they are:

“Committed to the reduction of law enforcement risk through the enhancement of training for criminal justice practitioners.”

The organization is currently under fire after they published a training document entitled, “Understanding Antifa and Urban Guerrilla Warfare,” which many are claiming painted a picture of Black Lives Matter and Antifa movements as radical militants in the midst of violent nationwide protests by members of those groups.

Allegedly, the document, which has since been removed from the organization’s website, contained language that painted the BLM movement as radical militants. The Hill reported that the document said, in part:

“Antifa and Black Lives Matter have no intentions to negotiate. These are revolutionary movements whose aims are to overthrow the U.S. government.”

Reportedly, the document also claimed that BLM is a terrorist group that is “supposedly funding by China and that money is then donated to the Democratic Party.”

The guide claimed that people who took part in the protests across the U.S. over the summer were “useful idiots” who were covering for “hard-core, terrorist trained troops.”

The Associated Press reported that in October, ILEETA sent a link to the 176-page paper in an email news update to its thousands of members. Allegedly, the document was labeled, “restricted to law enforcement only.”

The document claimed that some of the observations about Black Lives Matter and Antifa in the training materials had been made by people who had served in Iraq and Afghanistan, who have “witnessed these types of terrorist groups organizing, creating insurgencies, and the horrible consequences of it.”

The organization’s executive director, Harvey Hedden, defended the document, calling it “one member’s opinion and open for critique and debate.” He said that the association supports the exchange of ideas and strategies to improve criminal justice training, but does not endorse specific approaches.

Hedden also argued that fact-checking the paper or restricting its distribution would amount to censorship and that its publication would allow for peer review by other trainers. He said in a statement:

“There will always be differences of opinion on training issues, but so long as the disagreements remain professional and not personal, we do not censor these ideas. I am willing to allow the trainer to evaluate the information themselves.”

He added:

“Just like law enforcement, I am afraid BLM has earned some of these criticisms and others might be over-generalizations.”

An official with Color of Change, a nationwide racial justice organization, called on police departments across the country to cut training ties with ILEETA, saying that it encourages a “warrior-style” mindset that creates more conflict in communities.

Scott Roberts, its senior director of criminal justice campaigns said that police executives with whom he has discussed the document with were “disturbed by it.” He said that many of them said it was irresponsible for the organization to promote and publish the training document.

Sherice Nelson, assistant professor of political science at Souther University and A&M College who studies black political movements said:

“This document is below the belt because of how much misinformation there is, how many conspiracy theories there are, how much violence it promotes, and how many reasons it gives to justify dehumanizing people.”

She added:

“The paper repeatedly promotes wildly outlandish claims about Black Lives Matter, shows cultural ignorance by falsely conflating the movement with Antifa, and primes officers to use force by painting both as terrorists plotting to kill police.”

Hedden said:

“The paper was the work and opinion of an ILEETA member. It has since been removed and replaced with a new resource.”

Report: Phoenix announces intent to charge Antifa-supporters as criminal street gang

November 19th, 2020

PHOENIX, AZ- When riots broke out in almost every major city across the U.S. back in May, following the in-custody death of George Floyd, political leaders turned against its officers, and allowed the destruction.

Police departments were directly attacked from all sides, ranging from politicians, to major media outlets, to social media, to enduring actual physical attacks from the terrorists in the streets.

Cities were burned, looted, and destroyed. Crime rates have soared, officers have been injured, and businesses have lost everything. In the beginning, local leaders supported these actions, some going as far as condoning the mayhem by calling it the “summer of love”.

Several months later, as residents began to take issue with the ongoing violence, local leaders did not openly support the chaos, but just chose to turn a blind eye to it. Now, we are in November, and finally some leaders are starting to wake up, stand up, and take action against these individuals who are nothing short of terrorists.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has chosen to charge leftist rioters, such as Antifa, as a criminal street gang, and they should be applauded.

In May, President Trump declared Antifa a terrorist group, and the entire left went wild. With the similar announcement the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has just made, the left is once again flipping out.

Liberal advocacy groups are rallying together and demanding that the prosecutors drop riot charges against the Antifa-style “protestors”.

According to Big League Politics, 18 Left-wing militants have been charged with various counts of rioting, unlawful assembly, aggravated assault on a police officer, hindering prosecution, criminal damage and obstructing public thoroughfare.

The arrests were made on October 18th, during a Black Lives Matter riot where a Phoenix police squad car was destroyed and rioters deployed smoke devices at law enforcement.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has charged at least a dozen of the left-wing rioters with gang-related crimes, following an investigation into the event.

In response, on Tuesday, November 17th, the liberal left threw a temper tantrum and gathered outside of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office demanding prosecutor Allister Adel grant a free pass to the left-wing youths.

In a statement, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office has defended its decision to charge these delinquents as criminal gang members. Their justification was the fact that the individuals used textbook Antifa-style tactics, such as deploying incendiary devices, using umbrellas as weapons, and coordinating their attire in black.

The statement read:

“On October 27, 2020, a Maricopa County Grand Jury issued indictments on fifteen individuals for incidents that occurred on October 17, 2020. The indictment is for several crimes, including conspiracy to commit assault, riot, and assisting a criminal street gang. The attached Grand Jury Indictment outlines all charges.

“While some will attempt to describe these defendants as “protestors,” a grand jury found probable cause to *charge this group with crimes, including the planning of violence.

“Ethical rules regarding trial publicity prohibit MCAO from trying this case in the media or saying anything that might influence a jury in these cases. Therefore, we cannot provide details about the evidence that was presented to the grand jury.

“The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office is responsible for felony criminal prosecution in Maricopa County. This office does not condone or support political prosecution of any kind and we encourage members of this community to lawfully exercise their first amendment rights regardless of the cause.

“As County Attorney Adel has publicly stated numerous times, MCAO is committed to protecting the safety of everyone in this community, law enforcement and demonstrators alike. While we fully support the rights of everyone to exercise their first amendment rights, we will not allow violence to take over our streets.

“A charge in a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.”

One can only hope that more major cities follow suit, and start taking a stance against this terrorist organization, and begin holding them accountable.

Here is more on the hatred Antifa projects, and the protection they receive from social media.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR – The Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front, a group closely tied to the Portland area Antifa organization, has applauded the arson of a police officer’s or sheriff’s deputy’s home in Washington County, the area south and west of Portland.

Washington County contains Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Tualatin, Aloha, Hillsboro, and other large suburban towns.

Local authorities have involved federal law enforcement agencies in an investigation of a home fire that occurred west of Portland.  The home belongs to a local law enforcement officer.  The details and background of this story are chilling.

“This is so cool,” indicates the Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front via Twitter:

For reference, the name of the officer, the location of the home, and the officer’s department are not being released by publics news sources.

On Wednesday, the home and a vehicle parked next to the home were set ablaze, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

Speaking on behalf of a joint-department effort, WCSO indicated that they are still investigating, but believe the incident may be linked to recent protests in Portland and could be a form of intimidation:

“There’s concern in this case that the officer was surveilled and followed home.”

Since at least June, with protests occurring almost nightly in the Portland area, and Antifa being the primary motivator and participant group, stories have circulated through the greater Portland police community about online harassment and home vandalizing.

Lieutenant Greg Pashley of the Portland Police Bureau has explained that the department has allowed officers to cover up the nametags on their uniforms in an effort to stop personalized attacks, both digitally and in-person.

Lt Pashley states:

“There were officers who had concerns that their personal information would be shared, and that somehow their personal lives would be impacted negatively either by threats or intimidation or criminal activity.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATFE), the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue are investigating the fire.

Twitter did not censor the above Tweet from the Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front for hate speech, nor did it suspend the group’s account.  In a surprise move, though, Facebook deleted the group’s Facebook page.

For more background, many groups related to Antifa don’t bear the Antifa name.  The primary group, Rose city Antifa, proudly proclaims their anti-fascist status.

Rose City Antifa (RCA) was founded in Portland in 2007, and is the oldest Antifa group in the nation.  While this movement of anti-fascism started in the 1980s, Rose City Antifa is the first to use the “Antifa” name.

The irony of anti-fascism is that the groups are primarily comprised of privileged white people, likely reaching out for identity attention.

One sociologist, Stanislav Vustotsky, tries to convince everyone that these are marginalized people:

“Many militant anti-fascists become involved in this form of activism because aspects of their identity are directly targeted by fascist violence; they are queer, transgender, gender non-conforming, people of color, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, and certainly identified in ways that intersected across these categories.

For them, anti-fascism was a means of ensuring their safety from a movement that threatens their very existence and venerates violence as the highest form of action. Even the Antifa activists who identify as cis heterosexual white males are the targets of fascist violence as ‘race’ and ‘gender’ traitors.”

David Marcus with The Federalist directly counters that claim:

“Antifa’s goals are not those of most non-white Americans. Most non-white Americans don’t want to destroy the systems of government, abolish the police, end capitalism, or cripple corporations. The group is absolutely trying to impose a style of anarchy that is steeped in (and almost unique to) whiteness.”

On Thursday after the election, a group of Antifa extremists vandalized a bio-cleaning business in Portland as part of a string of targeted attacks on property since Election Day.

“Last Thursday night, a couple dozen Antifa dressed in black bloc gathered at Colonel Summers Park in southeast Portland.

The planned “direct action” was announced via a digital flyer on social media.  From there, they marched to the office of Rapid Response Bio Clean, a business that contracts with the city of Portland to clean biohazardous material from public spaces.

Part of its contract includes removing and cleaning homeless encampments.

Shielding themselves with black umbrellas, Antifa proceeded to disable the building’s security cameras with spray paint and smash its windows. They wrote, ‘Sweeps kill’ and ‘ACAB’ (all cops are bastards) on the property.”

We at Law Enforcement Today must give proper credit to Andy Ngo (@MrAndyNgo on Twitter).

Andy is a Vietnamese-American who has taken extreme mental and physical abuse to report almost daily on the movements of Antifa nationwide.

With the group’s activity most prevalent in Portland, many of his stories generate from the Pacific Northwest.
