In a bold move, Gov. Ron DeSantis has made the decision to allow Florida correctional officers to begin the process of identifying criminal illegal immigrants who are in their custody to help combat the wave of illegal immigration.

Breitbart News reported that, “State officials confirmed to local media that as part of Florida’s 287(g) agreement with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a handful of prison guards will be authorized to “identify and process” criminal illegal aliens who are booked into state prisons and deemed a public risk.”

In a statement released by Gov. DeSantis he stated,

“I believe public safety is important to maintain the best quality of life in our communities which is why I am extremely pleased that the Legislature gave me a sanctuary city bill I signed into law.”

The underlying purpose would be to ensure that criminal undocumented migrants are not released into from prison into the general public after serving their sentences. For anyone that might argue with that rationale since they “did their time” — there’s still that pesky little fact that they are not supposed to be in the country at all, because they did not do so the correct way. Additionally, these are convicted criminals who would be coming right out of prison.

DeSantis has started his term as governor as Florida making some strong choices when it comes to protecting the legal citizens of his state. As reported by Breitbart News,

“DeSantis has implemented one of the most pro-enforcement agendas in the nation, banning sanctuary cities in Florida last year and now pushing for statewide mandatory E-Verify to ban employers from hiring illegal aliens over American citizens.”

The Orlando Sentinel reported that “Under the state’s sanctuary-city prohibition, local law enforcement agencies have to hold undocumented immigrants in custody for up to 48 hours if a federal immigration agency sends a detainer request.”

While many are in support of DeSantis’s efforts sources report that, Democrats as well as many immigrant-rights groups have outwardly opposed DeSantis’ ‘tough immigration policies’.

Casey Bruce-White, who is the director of communications for the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida stated,

“Turning our state employees into ICE agents at Florida taxpayer expense will not make our state safer.”

The ACLU and other immigration-rights advocacy groups feel that policies like the sanctuary city ban will now force local governments into spending resources to do the jobs of federal immigration agents. They have also noted their concerns that policies such as DeSantis’ will lead to racial profiling across Florida.

Although the ACLU and other immigration rights groups are against DeSantis’s new policies many voters in the state are in support of these new actions. Breitbart News reported that,

“In the latest University of North Florida poll, 82 percent of Hispanic voters in Florida said they approve of the job DeSantis is doing as governor, along with 72 percent of all Florida voters, 76 percent of white Floridians, and even 56 percent of Democrats.”

Breitbart News also notes that,

“Florida has the fourth largest foreign-born population in the county, with more than 4.1 million illegal aliens, legal immigrants, and foreign-born naturalized citizens.”

However, “California, Texas, and New York continue to have the largest foreign-born populations in the county.” Although, “California, a sanctuary state, has almost as many foreign-born residents as New York, Texas, and Florida combined, with more than 10.5 million illegal aliens, legal residents, and foreign-born naturalized citizens living in the state.”

Once this plan receives the final approval from ICE, Florida will join the ranks with Arizona, Massachusetts and Georgia who have also entered into similar contracts with the federal government.

DeSantis for his part has been an outspoken supporter of President Trump and his immigration reform policies.

Florida Democrats aren’t the only ones that have voiced their anger about these types of policies.  Earlier this week we brought you the story of presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warrens claims that there is no actual crisis at the border.

During last Wednesday night’s Democratic presidential debate, Elizabeth Warren claimed that illegal immigration at America’s southern border is a “man-made crisis” that was “created” by President Donald Trump.

“The real point here is that we need to stop this man-made crisis at the border,” Warren said.

“Trump is the one who has created this crisis…When I found out that our government was actually taking away children from their families, I went down to the border.”

So, that would have been back when she took office in 2013? Because what she is describing took place in the Obama era. President Trump as worked diligently to stop the illegal border crossings and the exploitation of children for the purpose of entering our country.

He has also begged Congress for the funds necessary to build facilities to house the overwhelming influx of people needing shelter while awaiting the disposition of their case.

Yet, many members of that same Congress, to include Warren, have obstructed his efforts the entire way.

“There’s like a giant Amazon warehouse filled with cages of women, cages of men, and cages of little girls and little boys,” Warren claimed. “A great nation does not separate children from their families.”

For the record, there are no giant Amazon warehouses filled with cages of people.

The current illegal immigration crisis is the fault of every president and most politicians who came before Donald Trump, who did nothing to strengthen America’s porous southern border.

Donald Trump is the first to recognize the problem and have the will to do something about it. Elizabeth Warren couldn’t be more wrong in her claim.

As Breitbart points out,

“Since 2009, there have been more than 250,000 homicides in Mexico and at least 30,000 disappearances,” the news outlet notes. “In 2017, there were 26,573 murders, 1,275 kidnappings, and 5,357 extortion cases in Mexico, marking the bloodiest year in the country in 20 years, despite these figures not capturing the scope of the cartel violence occurring in Mexico.”

Neither President Trump nor his policies caused these awful events in any way.

“In the last year alone, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested more than 6,600 convicted murderers and convicted sex offenders who were in the United States illegally,” Breitbart notes. “Of that total, 4,975 of the illegal aliens arrested were convicted sex offenders. The other 1,641 illegal aliens had been convicted of homicide.

Another 1,913 illegal aliens that were arrested by ICE had pending sex offense charges against them, while 387 illegal aliens had pending murder charges against them. For each one of these crimes, there are at least one or more American and legal immigrant victims.”
