HOUSTON – Prosecutors in Houston charged ex-NBA All-Star, Steve Francis, 39, with felony retaliation. They say he threatened a Houston-area deputy during a traffic stop reported ESPN.

According to the same report, court records show Francis also faces a DUI charge stemming from the incident Saturday. Jail records indicate he was released on $5,500 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.

Local news KHOU-TV reports Francis was pulled over in Harris County, Texas, for speeding. The station said a deputy smelled alcohol and Francis was belligerent. The report says more deputies were called to the scene and Francis was arrested. Authorities said no deputies were assaulted. The nature of the felony threat of retaliation was undisclosed.

Francis played collegiately for the University of Maryland before for 11 seasons in the NBA, including seven in Houston with additional stops in New York and Orlando.
