Documents show Canada was planning to train China’s military in cold weather tactics at military base in Ontario

According to documents revealed on Wednesday, December 9th, by Canada’s Rebel News Network, Canada planned to train China’s military in cold weather tactics at a military base located in Ontario.

However, the documents also indicated that Canada decided to cancel the program at the Trump administrations request. Ezra Levant, who founded the Rebel News Network, reportedly asked for the documents via an official information request that he filed after seeing a news report on Sputnik, the Russian propaganda site.

In that news report, Levant read that a Canadian official had attended an anniversary celebration for China’s navy in April 2019. The Canadian government gave Levant the documents, which have also been posted Rebel News’ website

The documents obtained by Levant suggested that a Canadian military official did in fact attend the “PLA Navy 70th Anniversary Fleet Review” in Qingdao, China back in April 2019. However, the documents also suggested that “6-8 personnel” from Chinas People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were to “participate in winter survival training” at the Canadian Forces Base Petawawa (CFB Petawawa) in Petawawa, Ontario.

Reportedly, one reason the Chinese might have been interested in winter tactics is so PLA soldiers would be better suited to fight should they become involved with conflicts with Indian troops in the Himalayas.

The documents also indicated that the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) had asked Canada’s Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) to cancel said winter training. In one of the documents posted by Levant, which was dated for January 28, 2019, indicated that:

“Back in December 2018, DND/CAF were keep to cancel the PLA’s participation in the winter survival training following the request from DOD to do so.”

Another document dated for the same day suggested that the request came because the U.S. approach to China “has shifted under the Trump administration.”

Then, reportedly, an email the following day asked:

“Whether several five eye countries have expressed concerns about knowledge transfer versus the U.S. only.”

A reply dated for January 30th, 2019 stated:

“The winter survival training will not take place this winter (2019)…The security concerns originated primarily from the U.S. We do not have a record of other five eyes countries expressing these concerns to Canada.”

The “Five Eyes” consist of the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, a group of allies who share intelligence and do not spy on one another by mutual agreement.

Another memorandum among Levant’s documents, which was labeled, “SECRET,” explained that the U.S. specifically asked Canada to cancel the training, stating:

“While this decision was taken following Ms. Meng’s provisional arrest, we understand that it was driven principally by concerns voiced by the U.S. that the training could result in unintended and undesired knowledge transfer from Canada to the PLA.”

Reportedly, China has been holding two Canadian citizens, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, as effective hostages since December 2018, following Canada’s arrest of a Huawei executive, Meng Wznzhou, also wanted in the U.S. The Canadians have been charged with espionage.

The document also warned that China could interpret the cancellation “in an unintended and unhelpful way” to Canada-Chia relations, possibly as a “retaliatory move” related to the Wznzhou case.

Allegedly, a draft letter by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ian Shugart to Deputy Minister of National Defense Jody Thomas, both serving in the Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, states:

“Any decision by Canada to reduce/cut ties should be carefully considered to avoid sending any unhelpful or intended messages.”

The letter also asked that the foreign affairs department (Global Affairs Canada) be consulted before canceling or postponing any future joint military activities with China. Levant provided a comment to Breitbart News:

“I don’t think any Canadians knew that Trudeau has been training the Chinese army, here on Canadian soil, at Canadian Forces Bases. It’s shocking to me that Canada would train a Communist dictatorship in winter warfare techniques that could theoretically be used against us and will surely be used against our ally India, as well as against Chinese citizens in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong.”

He added:

“The anti-American language in the secret documents is deeply worrying, as it shows that Canada is reorienting itself away from our traditional democracy allies and towards the world’s worst tyrants, much like Pierre Trudeau tried to do during the Cold War.”

China has done ‘human testing’ in attempt to create ‘super soldiers’, U.S. official says

December 4th, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. — According to U.S. intelligence, there is evidence that China has performed “human testing” on members of its army in an attempt to enhance its soldiers biologically.

On Friday, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe claimed that there were individuals in the People’s Liberation Army that were being experimented on in order to grant them “biologically enhanced capabilities.”

Ratcliffe included this statement in a lengthy op-ed he wrote for the “Wall Street Journal”. The article made the case that China currently stands as the greatest national security threat to the U.S.

Ratcliffe wrote the following in his article:

“If I could communicate one thing to the American people from this unique vantage point, it is that the People’s Republic of China poses the greatest threat to America today, and the greatest threat to democracy and freedom worldwide since World War II….There are no ethical boundaries to Beijing’s pursuit of power.”

According to NBC, Ratcliffe—who is a Republican and former member of Congress—and the CIA did not immediately respond to requests to explain what is meant by “biological enhancement”.

It is unknown if China was attempting to create “super soldiers” such as those depicted in Hollywood films like “Captain America.”

In 2019, Elsa Kania and Wilson VornDick, two American scholars, wrote a paper in which they examined China’s “priority” to bring biotechnology into military operations.

According to the paper, there were even signs that China could desire to use gene-editing technology to enhance human performance, and perhaps even that of soldiers.

Kania, an expert on Chinese defense technology at the Center for a New American Security, and VornDick, a consultant on matters regarding China and a former Navy officer, wrote in their paper that China’s research related to CRISPR was of particular interest.

CRISPR, short for “clusters of regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats”, is a gene-editing tool that has been used for a variety of genetic experiments, such as treating genetic diseases and modifying plants.

The ethical dilemma of using CRISPR to manipulate genes to “enhance” otherwise healthy individuals, however, remains debatable. Kania and Vorndick, for instance, are unsure if the tool could even be used for such practices, although they mention that China is intrigued by it:

“While the potential leveraging of CRISPR to increase human capabilities on the future battlefield remains only a hypothetical possibility at the present, there are indications that Chinese military researchers are starting to explore its potential.

“Chinese military scientists and strategists have consistently emphasized that biotechnology could become a ‘new strategic commanding heights of the future Revolution in Military Affairs.”

According to the two scholars, one prominent Chinese general stated in 2017 that even at that time, China was already looking into the capabilities of biotechnology:

“…modern biotechnology and its integration with information, nano(technology), and the cognitive, etc. domains will have revolutionary influences upon weapons and equipment, the combat spaces, the forms of warfare, and military theories.”

In a phone interview on the subject, VornDick specifically stated that he was more concerned with the consequences of tampering with human genetics than he was with how this could affect future battlefield activities:

“When we start playing around with genetic organisms, there could be unforeseen consequences.”

Representatives of China have not responded to either the scholars’ research or Ratcliffe’s article. Ratcliffe, however, makes his opinion clear on the threat he believes China poses to the U.S. on all fronts:

“The intelligence is clear: Beijing intends to dominate the U.S. and the rest of the planet economically, militarily and technologically.”

In an interview with Fox News, Ratcliffe expressed that he hoped President-elect Joe Biden would “be honest” about China.

According to NBC, Biden and his advisors agree that China is a threat to the U.S., but that they believe the Trump administration has “offered more bluster than substance in response.”

Chinese sociologist claims China will overtake the US and effectively ‘put an end to it’

December 2, 2020

SHENZHEN, CHINA – MEMRI TV, a research organization that normally tracks Islamic extremism and anti-Semitism around the world, reported that Dr. Li Yi, a Chinese sociologist, stated that it is only a matter of time before China overtakes the United States and effectively puts an end to it.

MEMRI, a media source that according to their website, “bridges the cap between the West and the Middle East,” reported:

“Chinese sociologist Dr. Li Yi said in an October 16, 2020 speech delivered at the Shenzhenwan Dialogue Forum in Shenzhen, China that China would overtake the United States in GDP by 2027, and that COVID-19 has been harmful to the U.S. and Europe but beneficial to China and North Korea.

“Dr. Yi holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Illinois and according to his LinkedIn account, he is a full-time professor at Renmin University in China. Following Dr. Yi’s October 16 speech, Renmin University issued a statement denying his employment at the university.”

Dr. Yi made more daring claims, as reported on Twitter:

“We Are Driving America to Its Death; COVID-19 Has Been Beneficial for China, North Korea; There Will Be No U.S.-China War, But We Will Take Over Taiwan.”

Dr. Li Yi made a series of inflammatory statements during his speech:

“It turns out that China is going to overtake the United States in 2027. It was said that this might be delayed for a year or two, but this year, God has pulled off a little trick, right? God created COVID-19 and spread it to every country in the world.

“COVID-19 is bad for Europe and America, but it is beneficial for North Korea and China.

“We still have 4,000 dead, right? But if 4,000 (Chinese) die versus 220,000 in the United States, we haven’t really lost a single person, have we? We’re close to zero infections and zero deaths. If 4,000 people out of 1.4 billion die, that’s the same as no one getting sick and no one dying.

“In the global economy, China stands out. We are ahead of schedule in terms of overtaking the United States. There will be no problem reaching this goal in 2027. The U.S. will not survive.

“As long as 1.4 billion Chinese people eat, sleep, defecate, and urinate every day, as long as we go to work every day, we will drive the U.S. to its death.”

United States and British sources have disputed Dr. Li Yi’s claims about China and North Korea.

In a report filed by The New York Post, North Korea and Kim Jong Un reacted harshly, especially considering Dr. Yi’s modest statements:

“North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un executed two people, closed the country’s capital, and banned fishing at sea in a frantic attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus, South Korea’s spy agency told lawmakers Friday.

“The tyrant has been lashing out with ‘excessive anger’ and taking ‘irrational measures’ in recent weeks as a result of the pandemic, according to Ha Tae-keung, an official who was briefed by National Intelligence Service.”

The Daily Wire reported:

“North Korea is so isolated from the rest of the world and is so underdeveloped that a report last year from the prestigious Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health ranked the nation 193 out of 195 nations in terms of being prepared to face a pandemic.

“Kim spoke at an alleged military parade last month where he claimed that North Korea had not had a single coronavirus victim.”

CNN reported with similar skepticism:

“Few experts believe that North Korea, a country of nearly 25 million people, which shares a border with China, could have escaped the effects of a pandemic that has infected more than 36 million people worldwide, and killed more than 1 million people.”

Others are skeptical towards China’s continued success:

“And it only took them thousands of years, 5 times the population, and considerable theft & dishonesty to overtake a civilization made wholesale out of a vast wilderness less than 300 years ago.”
