Eyewitness to murder of pro-police demonstrator says killer was ‘huddled’ with news producer and aggressor

DENVER, CO- More details regarding the murder of military veteran Lee Keltner are being revealed. An eyewitness claims that, moments before the shooting occurred Keltner’s killer, a unlicensed security guard, was seen “huddled up” with a local news producer and a violent agitator.

LET previously reported on the shooting that took place on Saturday night. Matthew Dolloff, the criminal that took Keltner’s life, was a security guard who was contracted by the local news channel 9 News.

The news station spoke about the shooting saying:

“A private security guard is being held as a suspect in a deadly shooting near the Denver Art Museum, according to the Denver Police Department (DPD).

The private security guard in custody was contracted through Pinkerton by 9NEWS. It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests.

DPD originally took two people into custody and later found the second individual, a 9NEWS producer who works in the investigative unit, was not involved in the incident. The producer is no longer in police custody and is not a suspect.”

Pieces of Dolloff’s online presence are beginning to surface now. The murderer is proven to have a long history of disliking conservatives and being anti-Trump. In one tweet Dolloff even claims to have approached a Trump supporter to call them racist:

“Ran into a Trump supporter with a Trump Button on their shirt. Told them i like their im a racist button. They had nothing to say. #f*cktrump”

Dolloff’s history of confronting others over differing political views calls into question his motive for the shooting on Saturday night.

Now, additional details are emerging that imply that the violence leading up to the murder of Keltner was planned.

John Tiegen went on Tucker Carlson Tonight to share details about the moments leading up to the shooting. Tiegen claims that while at a pro-police rally a counter-protester appeared and harassed demonstrators.

The aggressor, who donned a “Black Guns Matter” t-shirt, was relentless in his ploy to cause trouble. He called to multiple black members of the group racial slurs and even asked to be maced in a desperate attempt to create chaos.

As the rally winded down and people began to head home Tiegen noticed that the shooter, the aggravator, and a 9 News producer were engaging in conversation. Tiegen told Carlson:

“The producer, the murderer, and the aggressor were all huddled in the corner having a nice little conversation.”

When Carlson asked the witness what he meant Tiegan clarified:

“They were huddled just before we started exiting.”

Tiegen also implied that the three seem to been working together or have known each other. The pro-police demonstrator told Carlson:

“Everywhere this agitator went, they went.”

In the wake of the tragedy, a fundraiser has been set up for Keltner’s family. The GoFundMe page has raised over $24,000 for funeral costs and aid for the family.

DENVER, CO – New details are are emerging in the incident we reported yesterday where a man was shot and killed as opposing protests were ending and people were heading home.

As we shared yesterday, the Denver Police Department tweeted out that the suspect in the shooting was a private security guard that had no affiliation with either group. We also detailed that a local TV affiliate, 9News, claimed that it had two employees taken into custody and had not heard from them.

Now those two pieces of information are being tied together.

That very NBC affiliate, KUSA, reported on their website:

“A private security guard is being held as a suspect in a deadly shooting near the Denver Art Museum, according to the Denver Police Department (DPD).

The private security guard in custody was contracted through Pinkerton by 9NEWS. It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests.

DPD originally took two people into custody and later found the second individual, a 9NEWS producer who works in the investigative unit, was not involved in the incident. The producer is no longer in police custody and is not a suspect.”

While the message behind the Instagram post below seems to point to Antifa as being responsible, it is still not known if the shooter was completely independent or if he had a ties to the “Soup Drive” group.

However, the photo in the post, when coupled with this one from the Associated Press, show what appears to be a gunshot wound to the head, inflicted at close range.

Police have confirmed that a verbal altercation occurred and a gun was discharged. Two guns and a spray can of mace were found at the scene. It is not known at this time what led to the altercation or if the mace was produced first or the fire arm.

DENVER, CO – All hell is breaking loose in the Mile High City. Clashing ideologies met today, with Antifa-inspired ‘ideas’ on one side, and pro-police patriots on the other.

It left one person dead.

As the rallies took place, the two sides had very little face-to-face interaction. Police had cordoned off the Greek Amphitheater, making it hard for the two sides to come into contact. Denver Police had help from at least one other metro-area sheriff’s department.

As the rallies were ending and people were heading home, things turned sour quickly. According to witnesses, one of the law enforcement supporters sprayed mace at a protester. That patriot was then shot at point blank range.

In the video below, a cloud of red mist can be seen, presumably the pepper spray. The videographer moved towards the scene after the shot rang out. As they get closer, you can see police move in on a suspect, while a man can be seen laying on the ground.

It was not immediately known of the man that was shot randomly sprayed mace at the suspect, or of it was done in self-defense.

According the the US Sun, whose headline billed the victim as a right-wing militia member, reported:

“The victim sprayed mace at another demonstrator, who then shot the mace-wielding protester with a handgun, the Denver Post reported.

Ambulances rushed to the scene immediately after the violent clash and transported the victim to a hospital, where he died.

Hours after the shooting, Denver authorities confirmed to KUSA that the victim died.”

The Patriot Muster was organized by John “Tig” Tiegen. For any of our readers unfamiliar with Tiegen, he was one of the survivors of the US Consulate in Benghazi, Lebanon that led to the deaths of four Americans, including to members of the security team that Tiegen was a member of.

Their story was put on the big screen in the movie 13 Hours. Tiegen is a ardent supporter of both President Trump and law enforcement.

He told a local radio station last week that he hoped that the events were non-violent.

“But, if they come towards me and come at me violent, I’m coming back 10 times fold.”

The other rally, as reported by the Denverite, was:

“the Denver Communists, Colorado Socialist Revolution and other groups organized what they called ‘A Black Lives Matter Anti-Fascist Soup Drive.’ That appears to be a reference to Trump’s July claim that protesters had assaulted police officers with cans of soup. The event’s original title was ‘Rally to Oppose Fascism.’”

But, the Antifa rally was scheduled to “drown out” the Patriot Muster.

The Denver Communists, posted Friday on Facebook:

“We feel it is our responsibility to vocally oppose fascists every time the try to assemble. And we hope you feel the same way! And what are our options? To cede our streets to them?

We scheduled our action after learning that the militia-fascists had called a patriot muster against the Black Lives Matter movement, anti-fascists and Marxists,’ a spokesperson for Denver Communists told Westword.

That’s us — guilty as charged and happy to oblige with our presence.”

Yes, Antifa communists see John Tiegen as a militiaman.

As seen in the cellphone video above, after the shots rang out, police on the scene immediately took the shooter and one other person into custody. Ambulance crews nearby went to work on the victim, transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to 9News:

“The shooting is being investigated as a homicide, DPD said.

DPD originally said that two suspects were in custody, and later found that the second individual was not involved in the incident. DPD said the second individual was a person of interest at the time of their arrest.”

While the reasons are unknown, a 9NEWS employee and contractor were taken into custody ay the scene. 9News states that they have not been contacted by either of their employees and do not currently know where either of them is.

As we have been writing this story, Denver police released an update via their Twitter feed.

Law Enforcement Today has not been able to find any details regarding private security firms that were engaged in working the event for either group.

It is not known at this point why a security guard would pull a weapon and fire it at someone from point blank range, or if it was done in the line of “on-the-clock” responsibilities or in a civilian capacity.

This is an ongoing story and we will provide updates as they become available.
