Declassified CIA Documents: Brennan briefed Obama on Clinton’s plan to tie Trump to Russia

WASHINGTON, DC- As a follow up to our previous reporting, Law Enforcement Today is presenting additional information gained from Breitbart News on the stunning revelations from Tuesday in which Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe released declassified documents which showed that former President Barack Obama had been briefed by then-CIA Director John Brennan about Hillary Clinton’s scheme to tie President Trump, then a presidential candidate, to Russia.

The plot was intended to take attention away from Clinton’s email server scandal.

The two pages of handwritten notes from Brennan, as well as a CIA memo that was sent to the FBI for potential further investigation was released by Ratcliffe after being declassified.

An intelligence official said about the revelation:

“The American people deserve to see how the Obama-Biden White House and their appointees at DOJ and CIA politicized our work, because many of them are trying to regain power now.

We just want to keep the American people safe. It’s what we spend every waking hour focusing on. We don’t want to go back to our important work being abused as a political weapon of the Democrats.”

The sum of Brennan’s notes look to be linked to various officials within the Obama administration, such as James Comey, Susan Rice and former White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough.

Paul Sperry, an investigative journalist with RealClearInvestigations tweeted out that the Clinton foreign policy adviser who proposed steering the Russia collusion narrative toward Trump is Jake Sullivan, now a top campaign aide for…wait for it…Joe Biden.

According to Sperry, Clinton gave her approval to Sullivan’s scheme on July 26, 2016, which was just four days before the FBI opened up its investigation into Trump’s campaign. Coincidence? Probably not.

In the CIA memo declassified by Ratcliffe and dated September 27, 2016, was intended for Comey, however addressed to the attention of Peter Strzok for potential further investigation.

It read:

  1. [Redacted] Per FBI verbal request, CIA provides the below examples of information the CROSSFIRE HURRICANE fusion cell has gleaned to date [Source revealing information redacted]:

a. [Redacted] An exchange [redacted] discussing US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning US presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering US elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.

[Redacted] According to open sources, Guccifer 2.0 is an individual or group of hackers whm US officials believe is tied to Russian intelligence services. Also per open sources, Guccifer 2.0 claimed credit for hacking the Democratic National Committee (DNC) this year.

There is no evidence that the FBI every investigated Clinton relative to this proposal and no members of Congress were informed of the intelligence obtained by the CIA.

On Tuesday, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-OH) tweeted Tuesday:

“We now know that John Brennan and Hillary Clinton conjured up the phony Russian hoax with the Obama/Biden Administration to distract Americans from the Clinton email scandal. The witch hunt was worse than we ever thought!”

Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) tweeted:

BREAKING: Brennan’s handwritten notes prove he briefed Obama on Hillary Clinton’s “approved” plan to “vilify Donald Trump by stirring up” the Russian collusion hoax. Yes, there was a coup to take down @realDonaldTrump. And it was even worse than we thought!”

Former Acting DNI Richard Grenell said that the declassified documents prove that Obama and Biden directed their administration to use the power of the federal government to attack Donald Trump’s campaign and then the transition after he was elected.

“The Susan Rice email to herself after the Oval Office meeting was part of the cover-up,” he tweeted.

Grenell was referring to the January 24, 2017 email that Rice memorialized to herself regarding a January 5, 2017 meeting in the Oval Office.

Participants in that meeting included Obama and Biden during which they were briefed by Comey on its investigation into members of the Trump campaign.

In that memorialized email, Rice repeatedly used the term “by the book” to describe the investigations.

Others tweeting about the revelations included White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, Donald Trump, Jr., and Ryan Fournier, founder of Students for Trump.

WASHINGTON, DC- Sing to The Wheels on the Bus…

“The wheels on the coup are coming off, coming off, coming off…the wheels on the coup are coming off…all through D.C.”

On Tuesday, President Trump said he has “fully authorized the total Declassification of any & all documents” related to the Russia investigation and the FBI’s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

Fox News reported that the president said, “I have fully authorized the total Declassification of any & all d ocuments pertaining to teh single greatest political CRIME in American History, the Russia Hoax. Likewise, the Hillary Clinton Email Scandal. No redactions,” Trump tweeted Tuesday night.

Earlier Tuesday, in yet another bombshell in the Russia hoax, Fox News and other outlets are reporting that Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe on Tuesday declassified additional documents.

Those documents show that former CIA Director John Brennan briefed Barack Obama on Hillary Clinton’s “plan” to tie Donald Trump, then a candidate for president, to Russia for the purposes of “distracting the public from her use of a private email server.” Remember this is the administration, according to Joe Biden, that “never had a sniff of a scandal.” That didn’t age well.

The news outlets report that the declassified notes were transmitted to the House and Senate Intelligence Committees on Tuesday afternoon.

“Today, at the direction of President Trump, I declassified additional documents relevant to ongoing Congressional oversight and investigative activities,” Ratcliffe told Fox News in a statement.

According to a source familiar with the documents, Brennan’s handwritten notes were taken after he briefed Obama on the matter.

In addition, according to The Federalist, CIA officials also requested the FBI investigate Russian knowledge of the Clinton campaign’s collusion smear operation.

According the notes from Brennan, U.S. intelligence resources knew in 2016 that Russian intelligence was actively involved in furthering Clinton’s anti-Trump Russian collusion narrative. The notes show that Russian assets were actively monitoring and placing disinformation into the operation.

The declassified notes from Brennan show that he and U.S. intelligence sources were aware months prior to the 2016 election of the smear operation implemented by the Clinton campaign.

“We’re getting additional insight into Russian activities from [REDACTED],” Brennan’s notes state. “Cite alleged approval by Hillary Clinton—on 26 July—of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisers to vilify [sic] Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security services.”

It is believed that Brennan used the notes to memorialize a meeting held at the White House with Obama and other top national security advisers. Brennan included responses from other meeting participants in his notes, including former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, former White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, and former DNI James clapper, however those responses have been redacted.

Obama asked at one point if there was any evidence of collaboration between Russia and the Trump campaign, however responses to that question, if any have been redacted.

The margins of the notes have the following: “JC,” “Denis,” and “Susan.”

Those are believed to be the initials of James Comey, as well as references to McDonough and Rice.

Just last week Ratcliffe released newly-declassified information and shared it with the Senate Judiciary Committee. That information showed that in September 2016, U.S. intelligence officials had forwarded an investigative referral on Hillary Clinton allegedly approving “a plan concerning U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections” to distract the American public from her email scandal.

In that case, the referral was sent to both Comey and disgraced then-Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok.

“The following information is provided for the exclusive use of your bureau for background investigative action or lead purposes as appropriate,” the CIA memo to Comey and Strzok read.

“This memorandum contains sensitive information that could be source revealing. It should be handled with particular attention to compartmentation and need-to-know. To avoid the possible compromise of the source, any investigative action taken in response to the information below should be coordinated in advance with Chief Counterintelligence Mission Center, Legal,” the memo said. “It may not be used in any legal proceeding—including FISA applications—without prior approval…”

The memo continued:

“Per FBI verbal request, CIA provides the below examples of information the CROSSFIRE HURRICANE fusion cell has gleaned to date. An exchange [REDACTED] discussing US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning US presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering US elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.”

Fox News noted that the memo is heavily redacted.

The cover notes of the memorandum noted that the information within was provided to the FBI “for the exclusive use of your Bureau for background, investigative action, or lead purposes, as appropriate.”

The Federalist noted that no evidence was found indicating any action by the FBI to ensure Russia’s knowledge of Clinton’s plans “did not lead to infiltration of that campaign’s operation by Russian intelligence agents.”

By specifically referring to CROSSFIRE HURRICANE, it would seem to suggest that the Obama administration’s anti-Trump efforts were not limited solely to the FBI, and may have in fact also utilized CIA assets and surveillance, leading to the obvious concern that the CIA was utilized and weaponized against the campaign of Donald Trump.

Late last month, Law Enforcement Today reported that much of the information of so-called collusion came from a suspected Russian spy, Igor Danchenko. In September, Attorney General William Barr told Congress that the FBI had been so concerned about Danchenko, dubbed the “Primary Sub-Source” and used by the architect of the phony Russia dossier, Christopher Steele, that the agency had in fact deemed him a national security threat and had him under investigation to determine if he was in fact a spy.

Once Danchenko left the United States, the FBI called off its investigation.

Democrats are downplaying the latest revelations, claiming without evidence that the current spate of declassified information is part and parcel of a Russian disinformation campaign.

However, the Federalist learned from multiple senior intelligence officials that the CIA still believes that Russian intelligence was under the impression early in the summer of 2016 that the anti-Trump collusion smear campaign was being used by the Clinton campaign to distract attention from Clinton’s email fiasco.

In October 2017, the top attorneys for the Clinton campaign, and the Democratic National Committee, Perkins Cole, admitted they had hired Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on then-candidate Trump. Fusion GPS then hired Steele to foment allegations that Donald Trump was a Russian agent working on behalf of Vladimir Putin.

Ratcliffe also on Tuesday declassified parts of a CIA investigative referral dispatched on Sept 7, 2017 to Comey and Strzok, asking them to investigate the Clinton campaign’s anti-Trump collusion smear because Russia gained knowledge of the plan, and there was concern it could then be tainted by a deliberate Russian disinformation campaign. Neither Strzok nor Comey initiated an investigation, refusing to do so.

More disturbing, not only did the FBI refuse to investigate Russian involvement in the Clinton campaign to interfere in the 2016 election, but Comey in testimony last week to Congress said he knew nothing about the CIA investigative referral.

In that hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Comey was asked by Sen. Lindsey Graham if he remembered receiving a referral from the CIA which was personally addressed to him. Comey denied having any recollection of that request.

Comey said, under oath, “That doesn’t ring any bells with me.”

Uh huh.

Graham pressed, asking, “You don’t recall this inquiry I just read about September 2016?” referring to the CIA referral Comey was sent on Sept 7, 2016.

“No as I said it doesn’t…it doesn’t sound familiar,” Comey said.

The DOJ conducted a long investigation about reported abuses of power by the FBI under the direction of Comey. The DOJ Office of the Inspector General determined that Comey had indeed “repeatedly violated FBI policies and cast a cloud over the entire bureau, damaging its reputation and that of its 35,000 employees.”

The report said, “Comey set a dangerous example,” while referring Comey to the DOJ for criminal investigation and possibly prosecution. The DOJ let Comey off the hook, as well as Comey’s deputy Andrew McCabe, who lied to DOJ officials under oath. It is unknown why neither was prosecuted.

It should be noted that one of Comey’s attorneys at the FBI who was also a member of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s legal team has pleaded guilty on charges of fabricating evidence used in a FISA application to spy on former Trump campaign official Carter Page.

In response to Democrats’ complaint that the unredacted information was “Russian disinformation,” Ratcliffe told Fox News that, “I’ll be briefing Congress on the sensitive sources and methods by which it was obtained in the coming weeks.”

An anonymous source told Fox News that the allegation was “not disinformation.”

“This is not Russian disinformation. Even Brennan knew, or he wouldn’t be briefing the president of the United States on it,” the source said. “There is a high threshold to orally brief the president of the United States and he clearly felt this met that threshold.”

Yet another source told Fox News that:

“this information has been sought by hundreds of congressional requests for legitimate oversight purposes and was withheld for political spite—and the belief that they’d never get caught.”

Meanwhile, the source added that the Brennan notes are significant because it is “their own words, written and memorialized in real time.”
