Rejected again: DC mayor’s second request to deploy National Guard troops denied by the Pentagon. Mayor claims it’s political.

Washington D.C., USA: Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington DC recently sent a second letter to the federal government to activate the National Guard to assist with the thousands of migrants arriving from the southern border to DC in recent months.

Her request was denied by the Pentagon- again.

Mayor Bowser first sent a letter to the Pentagon in July, but was rejected August 4th. She then sent another letter Aug. 11th, but that, too, was rejected.

The Defense Department executive secretary Kelly Bulliner Holly cited several reasons for the refusal. She stated in the response letter to the mayor:

“The DCNG has no specific experience in or training for this kind of mission or unique skills for providing facility management, feeding, sanitation or ground support.”

She continued in the letter:

“Approval of this request would also result in a substantial readiness impact to the DCNG. Devoting the personnel or the facility for such an extended mission would force the cancellation or disruption of military training.”

Mayor Bowser did not take the refusal well. She voiced her frustration through Twitter, citing America’s ‘broken immigration system.’

In recent tweet, Mayor Bowser stated:

“We struggle with a broken immigration system in our country, and we know that cities alone cannot fix it. We will continue working with federal partners and local NGOs on the best way to set up systems that allow us to manage an ongoing humanitarian crisis.”

The Migrant Crisis Origins

Our nation’s capital, along with other areas of the country, have been recently receiving migrants by the busload. The ‘open border’ created by the Biden administration has led to thousands of migrants from Mexico, Central and parts of South America to cross into Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

Texas has been sending migrants to other states to lessen the burden it has been on its own humanitarian, economical and law enforcement resources.

Unlike Washington D.C., Texas, like all states, have command of their National Guard assets.

Because Washington D.C. is not a state, the Defense Department has authority over the D.C. Guard, which is overseen by the Defense Department Executive Secretary, Kelly Bulliner Holly. Specific reasons for Mayor Bowsers request are unclear at the moment.

The Cost to Handle the Migrant Crisis

Texas has deployed its own National Guard troops to help with the influx of migrants coming across the border.

This is an expensive endeavor. The troops must receive their standard pay as well as housing allowances, per diem and several other miscellaneous expenses.

This is all before other migrant related costs are factored in: social services, transportation, medical, and so on.

You can feel the Texas pain.

It’s no wonder Texas Governor Abbot wants other cities and states to feel the burden Texas has recently been under. In a statement issued by Gov. Abbot, he said:

“Before we began busing migrants to New York, it was just Texas and Arizona that bore the brunt of all the chaos and problems that come with it. Now, the rest of America can understand exactly what is going on.”

This issue has sparked controversary from other politicians, like the liberal New York City Mayor Adams. In a statement Mayor Adams said:

“This is horrific when you think about what the governor [TX Gov. Abbot] is doing.”

In a swift and heated response, Gov. Abbot’s top spokesman said:

“What’s horrific is the thousands of illegal immigrants overrunning the overwhelming our border communities with populations smaller than a New York City Borough, and Mayor Adams is hypocritically upset about welcoming a few dozen into his sanctuary city.

The spokesman continued:

“If the mayor wants a solution to the crisis, he should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border- something the President continues failing to do.”

Mayor Adams is at the head of one of the most liberal cities in America. His clear hypocrisy on the issue is simply mind- boggling. If he were to back up his words of being a ‘sanctuary city’, he should be thanking Gov. Abbot, not criticizing him.

Mayor Bowser, too, is looking for simple answers like throwing troops at the problem. She doesn’t need troops; she needs the backbone to follow the philosophy of being a liberal sanctuary city.

DC mayor denied request for help from the National Guard to assist with illegal immigrants overrunning city

Posted August 8, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC – Liberal Washington, DC Mayor, Muriel Bowser, recently made a request from the Department of Defense for the deployment of National Guard units in the city to help with the influx of illegal aliens flooding her streets.

A request that was quickly denied, leaving her to wonder what to do next.

Bowser, a card-carrying member of the Democratic party, has called out for help from the federal government over the influx of illegal aliens into her city.

She blames “political games” after Republican Governors Greg Abbott of Texas and Doug Ducey from Arizona have been chartering them out of their state into liberally run areas.

Why?  Because their states are overrun.

And of course she fails to recognize that if the illegal aliens were not allowed into the country, there would be no issue in the first place.

Bowser’s request to Democratic President Joe Biden’s Department of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was made on July 19th. In that request, Bowser informed him that her city has seen “over 4,000 individuals arriving on nearly 200 buses” since April. She added:

“Our collective response and service efforts have now become overwhelmed…our homeless services system is already under great strain; and tragically, many families arrive in Washington, DC with nowhere to go, or they remain in limbo seeking onward destinations across the United States.

“With pledges from Texas and Arizona to continue these abhorrent operations indefinitely, the situation is dire…and we consider this a humanitarian crisis – one that could overwhelm our social support network without immediate and sustained federal intervention.”

Shortly after sending that request through, she turned her pleas to President Biden’s Homeland Security Advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall and Intergovernmental Affairs Director Julie Chavez Rodriguez, asking them to help with her request to the DOD.

She wrote:

“The DCNG was instrumental in our Public Heath Emergency and can be even more impactful in addressing the needs of asylum seekers…

I know the President shares my empathy, and I look forward to working with the administration to secure the DCNG and a federal facility to process migrants as they seek asylum and a better life in the United States of America.”

Regardless of Bowser’s apparent attempts to win President Biden’s favor, the Department of Defense sent a letter back to her stating that they will not be accommodating her request.

It read:

“After careful consideration, the Department has concluded it cannot fulfill your request…I understand a non-Governmental Organization, SAMU First Response has received federal grant funding via the Emergency Food and Shelter Program by FEMA for this mission.

Notably, this program supplements funding for humanitarian relief efforts by government and social service organizations for the purposes of providing shelter and supportive services to families and individuals.”

Bowser addressed the response at a news conference, saying that her office may attempt a second request.

She said:

“When we have a growing humanitarian crisis that we expect, that the federal government expects is only going to worsen I have got to deploy the resources that I need to handle it and we need our National Guard.”

Bowser, who once lauded former Democratic President Barack Obama’s several executive orders on immigration reform has certainly changed her tune from what she had said in 2014:

“We applaud the Obama Administration for looking to address immigration reform in a responsible and respectful way.

These new policies will ensure that thousands of undocumented immigrants in the District of Columbia are given a fair shot at the American Dream. They will also help protect families, improve our economy and strengthen our nation.”

There are other plans for migrants.

GOP warns America that Biden plans to use Amtrak to ship illegal immigrants into interior US

Posted August 23, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC- We’ve often heard old “lunch bucket Joe” wax poetic about the millions of miles he’s traveled on Amtrak…you know, a regular man of the people. Now, according to Town Hall, old Joe may be sharing his train car with an illegal alien or two.

The outlet reports that the Biden administration is poised to use the beleaguered rail system to transport illegal aliens from areas near the U.S-Mexico border.

Nineteen House Republicans claim the Department of Homeland Security has hatched a scheme to use taxpayer money to ship illegals from the border to the interior United States.

Stock photo:

The Republicans lay blame squarely on Biden’s messaging and his push to end Title 42 restrictions as the reason for an unprecedented invasion of illegals at the southern border, which led the Republicans to expose Biden’s plot.

GOP lawmakers drafted a letter to Amtrak officials, in which they warned that Biden was planning on using the train service to process illegals if immigration checkpoints become overrun with new arrivals, which they say will exacerbate the current crisis at the border.

“We are concerned about the impact that a significantly greater border surge could cause to your services and the potential use of Amtrak in the Administration’s response to its self-created border crisis,” the letter warns.

“Such a situation would cause disruptions for Amtrak customers as well as interrupt freight traffic that could further exacerbate the supply chain crisis…would also constitute an unconscionable use of significant amounts of taxpayer funds and resources to aid in the vast movement of illegal migrants into American communities,” the letter continued.

The Republicans said they are “deeply concerned” that the railroad may be used to move illegals, in particular the Sunset Limited route.

“We are deeply concerned that Amtrak’s resources—especially those supporting the Sunset Limited route—will be used to transport these undocumented persons,” they wrote.

The invasion into the United States at the southern border is unprecedented, with Customs and Border Protection announcing earlier last week that some 200,000 illegal aliens have entered the U.S. in July alone, bringing the total in this fiscal year to over 1.9 million encounters.

Republicans on the House Transportation Committee are seeking a briefing regarding any discussions that may have occurred between Amtrak officials and the White House on the topic.

Things could get much worse if Title 42 is lifted as Biden attempted to do earlier this year, only to have a federal judge intercede and block the move. The issue is undergoing litigation at the moment, and if it is indeed lifted, even the White House admits illegal immigration into the U.S. will swell, which is unsustainable.

One group of individuals who are looking forward to Title 42 being scuttled are drug cartels and human smugglers south of the border, who “will seek to take advantage of and profit from vulnerable migrants,” admitted feckless Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, admitting the border will be overrun, Fox News reported.

As regards the letter to Amtrak, a spokesman for the railroad said they are currently reviewing the letter and would send a response to GOP lawmakers. Meanwhile, Fox News reached out to the White House and DHS, neither of which returned requests for comment.
