Couple Arrested After Hitting Vancouver Officers with Car
Just after 9 a.m. police located 30-year-old Cody J. Stewart and 25-year-old Ashley Belle Isle getting into a car outside the home of Stewart’s mother, in the 7500 block of Delaware Lane, according to Kim Kapp with Vancouver police.
Stewart and Isle were wanted on felony warrants and were being investigated in a criminal impersonation case.
When officers attempted to take the suspects into custody, Stewart’s mother came out of the home and started arguing with the officers. Isle restarted the car and backed up at a high rate of speed while the officers were distracted.
One officer was hit in the arm by the car door while the other was hit by the rear of the car and lifted off of the ground. Neither officer was seriously hurt.
The suspects left the area in a teal Toyota Yaris with license plate number 589-YIH. Both suspects were safety risks, Kapp said.
Stewart’s mother was arrested for obstructing and second-degree criminal assistance.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the vehicle was asked to call Vancouver Police.
