The Boston Herald and the Boston CBS affiliate report that a woman was assaulted after pulling over at the direction of someone representing himself as a member of the Wareham Police Department. The woman, who has not been identified, was assaulted on Saturday night.
The woman was driving down Main Street and had been pulled over by a dark colored SUV with flashing interior blue lights along the dash board area. The individual advised her of a broken tail light, asked for her license, and ordered her out of the car. The alert woman became suspicious and started to roll up her window, intending to drive away. The officer impersonator hit her in the face with a flashlight.
The fake cop is described as white, in his forties, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with dark hair and a very noticeable Adam’s apple. Anyone with information about this case should call the Wareham Police Department at (508) 295-1212.
