Congressional Democrats propose bill to outlaw militias, would criminalize 'intimidation' of public officials

The hypocrisy runs deep within the Democrat Party. The latest example is a bill proposed in Congress prohibiting paramilitary activity, already outlawed in all 50 states. Democrats, however, have absolutely no problem with organized groups like Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and pro-Hamas groups operating. According to News Nation, the bill is allegedly to prevent incidents such as the US Capitol siege on January 6, 2021. 

The Preventing Private Military Activity Act would impose criminal penalties on people who engage in certain conduct, including “intimidating” elected officials, interfering with government proceedings, and pretending to be law enforcement. 

The bill’s sponsor, far-left loon Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), laughably described the Jan. 6, 2021 incident as being carried out in part by “white supremacists,” an allegation that is absurd on its face and which has never been proven. 

“Three years ago, white supremacists affiliated with paramilitary organizations stormed the U.S. Capitol, shattering windows, walls, and the families of five U.S. Capitol police officers,” Markey said in a press release. “Private paramilitary actors, such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, pose a serious threat to democracy and the rule of law, and we must create new prohibitions on their unauthorized activities that interfere with the exercise of people’s constitutional rights. The forces of bigotry, hatred, and violent extremism must be stopped for the sake of our democracy.” 

Evident by its omission was any reference to pro-Palestinian groups that have exposed their “bigotry, hatred, and violent extremism.” Antifa or Black Lives Matter were not mentioned. That is no doubt because all those groups function as the paramilitary wing of the Democrat Party. 

The bill is co-sponsored in the House by another far-left lunatic, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland). 

Interestingly, Markey mentioned interfering “with the exercise of people’s constitutional rights.” The bill he proposes would stomp, at a minimum, on both the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution. 

The proposed bill is a fool’s errand. As we’ve seen since January 6, the federal government has had no problem locking people up for “interfering with government proceedings,” whether they were inside the Capitol or not. Everything already addressed in the bill is illegal in all 50 states. 

“Intimidating state and local officials?” You mean, like showing up at school board meetings and speaking out against policies that teach children that men can have babies, that the United States is a systemically racist country, and that boys can play girls’ sports? This is a clear, unadulterated attack on the First Amendment, trying to undermine the rights of the people to address their grievances against elected officials. 

Raskin gave the following statement: “Patrolling neighborhoods, impeding law enforcement, and storming the U.S. Capitol, private paramilitary groups like the Oath Keepers, the Three Percenters, and the Proud Boys are using political violence to intimidate our people and threaten democratic government and the rule of law.

"Our legislation makes the obvious but essential clarification that these domestic extremists’ paramilitary operations are in no way protected by our Constitution. I’m grateful to Senator Markey for his partnership on this critical effort to protect the rule of law, deter insurrection, and defend our democracy.” 

Raskin and Markey have obviously never read any of our founding documents, including the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, which stated that the People have the “right” to abolish or alter any government that has become destructive to the pursuit of happiness. 

“When a long train of abuses and usurpations” have reduced the country to “absolute despotism,” it is the people’s “duty to throw off such government and to provide new guards for their future security,” as noted by InfoWars columnist Kelen McBreen. 

Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) slammed the proposed bill, as well as Markey and Raskin:

“There’s no way guys like that are going to mandate the everyday life and behaviors of who I associate with. What we decide to do. What we decide to discuss. If we decide to go to the range and train. Those same guys would be lost on a tactical training range. They’d go hide in their car.

"They don’t qualify to hang out with me. And I don’t expect them to understand the kinds of skills that men like me honed over the course of my life. They are only required to be quiet and stay out of our way if the shit hits the fan anywhere in any way so that we can protect them.” 

All you need to know is what organizations have endorsed the unconstitutional bill. They are the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress, Protect Democracy, a philanthropic organization with many prominent leftists as advisors, and the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection at Georgetown University Law Center. 

We’ll finish with this little ditty from the Declaration of Independence:

When, in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government and to provide new Guards for their future security.
