If you work in law enforcement, you may find comedian George Lopez a bit insulting. Actually, you will probably believe he is extremely offensive. Lopez has a message for President Trump: “Deport the police.”
Comedian George Lopez on Instagram
The performer wrote on Instagram, “The Trump administration is deporting Latinos to make the streets safe . . . You wanna make the streets safer deport the police.”
He added, “This is not an indictment of all Law Enforcement, some still just beat you.”
After the message went up, Lopez faced backlash and has since made his account private, reported Fox News.
Some fans felt his statement on Friday was “irresponsible” and suggested Lopez “stick to comedy.”
“This is a very irresponsible comment bro. You have really disappointed me bro, I thought you were better than that,” one commenter wrote, according to Breitbart.
Another said, according to the site, “Not cool @georgelopez. I’m Latina and I’ve been pulled over more than enough times for speeding. All but one cop were nice and respectful.” One more commenter said, “I realize there are some bad apples in the bunch but your statement puts all cops in the bad bunch category. Please stick to comedy. You’re not that funny when you bring politics into your posts.”
A representative for Lopez did not return Fox News’ request for comment.
Comedian George Lopez Joins Other Celebraties
Lopez joins a list of Hollywood celebrities that have stuck their foot in their mouth.
A few years ago, Samuel L. Jackson went further than that. You might remember he released an incendiary video in which he sang, “Call out the violence of the racist police. We ain’t gonna stop ‘til people are free.” He then encouraged other celebrities to follow his lead.
Law Enforcement Today would like to thank Lopez for showing his ignorance! It’s always good to let the paying public know where the entertainment industry sits on issues related to peace keepers. Consequently, we can avoid Samuel L. Jackson movies and now comedian George Lopez shows can be added to the list of undesirables.
