CNN poll: 2% of those polled think America is doing “very well” under Biden

Share:

In a recent poll commissioned and released by CNN, reportedly only 2% of survey participants say that America is doing “very well” while currently under the Biden administration.

Strangely though, while survey participants find that things aren’t going swimmingly well in the country, the same survey also found that President Joe Biden is averaging over a 50% approval rating for how he’s handling the presidency.

According to the survey results, which consisted of 2,119 respondents polled, participants were asked a variety of questions between August 3rd and September 7th pertaining to how President Biden is handling his role in office, overall sentiments of the state of the country, and questions about important issues like the economy, pandemic, and immigration.

One of the questions featured in the survey went as such and rendered the following results:

“How well are things going in the country today?”

  • Very well: 2%
  • Fairly well: 29%
  • Pretty badly: 45%
  • Very badly: 24%

However, despite that being the general sentiment regarding the status of the country, President Biden seemingly had – by slim margins – a greater than 50% approval rating, according to the survey results:

“Do you approve or disapprove of the way Joe Biden is handling his job as president?”

  • Approve: 52%
  • Disapprove: 48%

“Do you approve or disapprove of the way Joe Biden is handling the coronavirus pandemic?”

  • Approve: 56%
  • Disapprove: 44%

“Do you approve or disapprove of the way Joe Biden is handling the economy?”

  • Approve: 51%
  • Disapprove 49%

Despite President Biden getting a 51% approval rating on the economy, the same survey also noted that many respondents are generally concerned about the economy:

“How worried are you, if at all, about the state of the economy?”

  • Very worried: 37%
  • Somewhat worried: 39%
  • Not too worried: 20%
  • Not worried at all: 3%

During the same period in 2020, only 26% of respondents found themselves “very worried” about the economy, and only 32% were “somewhat worried”.

A more detailed breakdown was offered with regard to aspects of the economy causing concern that would likely give Jimmy McMillan a smug chuckle – a.k.a., the leader of the Rent is Too Damn High Party who also became famous in 2010 for the slogan of the same name – finding that the top concern (43% of respondents) cited “expenses/cost of living” impacting the economy.

Areas within the realm of “expenses/cost of living” on the survey noted inflation, housing costs, insurance costs, gas prices, food prices and the ilk.

The survey also found that there have been increased concerns over crime, as during the same period in 2020 there was a “net worried” level of 37%, yet in the recent results, the “net worried” level regarding crime rose to 57%.

Without much surprise, immigration issues also cropped up on the survey, where participants noted that illegal immigration needs to be addressed:

“How important is it to you that the federal government stops the movement of undocumented immigrants into the United States?”

  • Very important: 49%
  • Somewhat important: 24%
  • Not too important: 17%
  • Not important at all: 9%

Infrastructure also happens to be another big area that survey participants want the federal government to address:

“How important is it to you that the federal government makes a significant investment in improving infrastructure?”

  • Very important: 49%
  • Somewhat important: 39%
  • Not too important: 9%
  • Not important at all: 3%

Other areas that participants overwhelmingly thought the government should address involved creating laws to “counteract racist policies and institutions” (net importance 77%), addressing gun crime (net importance 77%), create laws that expand voting access (net importance 69%), and taking action to slow climate change (net importance 74%).

Biden requests $6.4B in taxpayer money to resettle 95,000 Afghans, give unvetted migrants Green Cards and citizenship

(Originally published September 9th, 2021)

WASHINGTON, DC – President Biden requested Congress to authorize at least $6.4 billion in American taxpayer money to provide aid and resettlement support to about 95,000 Afghans that he hopes to bring to the U.S. over the next 12 months.

Administration officials said Tuesday that the White House would request $6.4 billion to resettle the Afghan refugees across the United States.

The U.S. anticipates bringing 64,000 Afghans to the U.S. by the end of this month and 30,000 over the next 12 months.

President Biden’s goal is to resettle about 95,000 Afghans into the U.S. The resettlement would be the largest since President Barack Obama brought 12,000 Syrians to the U.S. from 2012 to 2016.

According to NBC News, the administration submitted a continuing resolution budget request linking resettlement funding to other disaster aid marked for Hurricane Ida, the fires ravaging the West, and other natural disasters.

Administration officials said the funds would be used for “funding and resources to the Afghans to help them set up a new home in the U.S.”

The funding for Afghan refugees would also support transportation costs between overseas processing locations and the United States, security screenings, humanitarian assistance, public health screenings and vaccinations.

After 12 months in the U.S., the Afghans will be eligible to apply to become LPRs (lawful permanent residents) and receive “green cards.”

Sen. Tom Cotton spoke out this week against President Biden’s relocation plan and a request by the administration to give “unlimited green cards” to unvetted Afghans.

Biden made a request to Congress to allow Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to give green cards to at least 50,000 Afghans by waiving vetting procedures, and to allow him to eventually confer naturalized U.S. citizenship to them.

Sen. Cotton (R-AR) said of the plan and budget request:

“Joe Biden left behind thousands in Afghanistan who already have American citizenship, green cards, or pending visas, but now he wants to award unlimited green cards to people who didn’t serve alongside our troops and who may even threaten our safety and health.

“All while exempting them from the normal refugee screening process.”

Through his office, Sen. Cotton added:

“(The plan would allow) any Afghans who come to the United States over at least the next year to obtain green cards, backdated to the day they entered the country, without completing the normal refugee screening or approval process.

“The only screening required under the proposal is whatever screening Secretary Mayorkas deems sufficient.”

Afghans are being evacuated to allied countries like Germany for processing before being brought to the U.S.  Those brought to the U.S. arrive under refugee status and have not undergone immigration processing.

Refugee resettlement in the U.S. costs American taxpayers nearly $9 million every five years, according to research cited by Breitbart News. Each refugee costs taxpayers about $133,000 over their lifetime. Within five years, an estimated 16% of all refugees admitted will need taxpayer-funded housing assistance.

Democrats block vote to require Biden to rescue all Americans, military equipment abandoned in Afghanistan

(Originally published September 2nd, 2021)

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republicans are demanding accountability for the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Freedom Caucus is demanding the President resign.

President Biden’s plan to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by an August 31 deadline fell into chaos after Afghan security forces collapsed and the Taliban took hold of the country.

Biden’s plan left thousands of Americans and allied Afghans scrambling to escape the country before the deadline, and American military forces were forced to withdraw, leaving massive stockpiles of weapons and unknown numbers of Americans and Afghans who aided in the war effort behind.

In the logjam that formed at Kabul Airport, ISIS-K terrorists detonated two suicide bombs, killing nearly 160 Afghans and 13 American service members.

On Tuesday, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, attempted to bring a bill up for consideration during a pro forma session of the House to demand answers about President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.

House Republicans also wanted to read the names of the 13 fallen service members into the record on the House floor.

Included in the bill was a request for the plan the administration has to get over 100 American citizens left behind in Afghanistan back home, a demand for an inventory of all equipment left behind, and transparency on any deals reached between the Taliban and the administration.

The bill also states that Congress believes the Taliban should not be recognized as the official government of Afghanistan.

The Democratic House chairman refused to recognize the Republicans and gaveled out the session without further action.

“How can you not read the names?” one member yelled. Another exclaimed: “Turn your back on our country.”

The move by the Democrat-controlled House did not surprise Republicans. The attempt to introduce the bill was primarily symbolic and was intended to gather support for the bill when the House returns to session on September 20.

At a press conference held following the session, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said:

“We listened to Gen. McKenzie say, ‘American troops have left Afghanistan, but we did not get out everybody we wanted to get out.’

“I heard the Pentagon say, ‘The time just wasn’t there to get more Americans out.’

“But let me be crystal clear. This isn’t the U.S. government’s timeline. It’s the Taliban’s timeline.”

The last American troops departed Afghanistan on August 30, minutes before the deadline set by President Biden. After the withdrawal of American troops was completed, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby acknowledged that American citizens were left behind:

“Americans and other individuals that want to be able to leave Afghanistan after our withdrawal is complete, the State Department is going to continue to work across many different levers to facilitate that. We do not anticipate a military role in that.”

McCarthy then called out Speaker Nancy Pelosi for allowing the House to end the session with consideration of the bill:

“Now is not the time to act like you could not see us on the floor. Now is not the time to hide. We are a co-equal branch.”

McCarthy said that the Biden administration’s handling of the withdrawal was a massive failure:

“I believe right now we should get every American home. I believe there should be accountability for what I — what I see is probably the biggest failure in American government on the military stage in my lifetime.”

He followed up with:

“We can never make this mistake again.”

In a Tweet the same day, McCarthy wrote:

“Democrats just blocked a vote to require a plan from President Biden to bring Americans home and to account for all the military equipment he left behind.

“Republicans will not stop until every American is home safely.”

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) said he plans to call the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction to brief Congress on the failed withdrawal:

“Committee Republicans invited the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction to brief Congress today, and I appreciate his willingness to come forward and his commitment to testify before the full Committee in the coming weeks.”
