Claim: If Pelosi hadn’t turned down Trump request for National Guard at Jan. 6 protest, ‘there would have been no problem whatsoever’

NEW YORK CITY, NY – In a recent interview with Sean Hannity, former President Trump pointed the finger of blame at Nancy Pelosi for the chaotic events of January 6, 2021, saying she turned down a National Guard presence.

In an exclusive phone interview with Sean Hannity on January 20, 2022, Hannity questioned the former president about his and Pelosi’s involvement with security considerations for the January 6 protests.

Hannity asked:

“Did you authorize, as required by law, the calling up of up to twenty thousand National Guard troops on January the 4th, and maybe even other occasions, in the lead-up to what everybody knew would be a big rally, and in every big rally I guess you always have bad actors.

“But on the heels of the rioting, 574 riots in the summer of 2020 that killed dozens, injured thousands of cops, and caused billions in property damage, did you authorize calling up the Guard, and then… the chain of command went to Nancy Pelosi and to the mayor of D.C., Muriel Bowser.

“Did you, as required by law, authorize that?”

Trump responded by claiming that Pelosi and Bowser both turned down the National Guard troops, saying:

“One hundred percent.  And, attested to by many people, and they turned it down.

“Nancy Pelosi turned it down.  I guess they both did, but Nancy Pelosi turned it down, and she’s in charge of the Capitol.

“So they run the Capitol, the security of the Capitol.”

Trump continued by speculating on what would have happened had National Guard troops been present, saying:

“If you had 10,000 or 20,000, … if you had 5,000 soldiers wrapped around the Capitol, you would have had no January 6 as we know it.

“There would have been no problem whatsoever.

“But they turned it down.”

According to a Breitbart transcript, Trump also reiterated his claim, going on to say:

“But I wanted to have soldiers or — and I wanted soldiers and/or National Guard, and Nancy Pelosi turned it down.

“And if she didn’t turn it down, you would not have had any problem.

“It would have just been absolutely a lovely day.”

Also in his phone interview with Hannity, Trump offered up some criticisms of foreign relations under Biden.

He asserted that the U.S. is “disrespected,” largely due to the disastrous pullout from Afghanistan.  He told Hannity:

“We’re disrespected all over the world.  And don’t forget, President Xi of China, Putin, Kim Jong-Un, Iran, all of these people, these leaders are watching.

And when they watch our border, and maybe worse,… what happened in Afghanistan, the way we got out, it looked like a surrender.”

Trump continued:

“They look at that, and all of a sudden, they have great bravery.

“So now you have a problem in the Ukraine, which you would have never had in my administration.”

In relation to the developing situation with Russia and the Ukraine, Hannity and Trump also discussed President Biden’s most recent press conference, in which the president stated:

“Russia will be held accountable if it invades.

“And it depends on what it does.

“It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion and then we end up having to fight about what to do and not do, et cetera.”

Trump responded:

“Really, what he said when he said they may go in, they will go in, and he talks about a “minor incursion,’ I sort of said, ‘I don’t believe he said that.’

“Because that’s like giving him, they use the term ‘green light.’  He [Putin] was green lighted.”

Trump continued:

“Whether you’re for strong stoppage or not, you’re really telling him [Putin] he might as well go in.”

Trump added that discussion on the matter of the Ukraine should not be only in terms of sanctions, “because sanctions don’t mean too much to Russia.”

‘Just plain embarrassing’: Harris criticized for comparing January 6 to Pearl Harbor, September 11

Originally published January 7, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – One year after the so-called “insurrection” at the Capitol, Vice President Kamala Harris asserted that the events of January 6, 2021 were comparable to the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

At the very beginning of a speech at the Capitol on January 6, 2022, Harris compared those two horrific events to the events of January 6, 2021, saying:

“Certain dates echo throughout history, including certain dates that instantly remind all who have lived through them where they were and what they were doing when our democracy came under assault.

“Dates that occupy not only a place on our calendars, but a place in our collective memory: December 7, 1941, September 11, 2001, and January 6, 2021.”

Naturally, many individuals took exception to the egregious comparison.

TV personality John Cardillo pointed out the obvious differences in devastating loss of life, tweeting:

“9/11: 2977 innocents dead

“Pearl Harbor: 2403 Americans dead

“Jan 6th: One death. Unarmed #AshliBabbitt killed by an inept Capitol cop,

@KamalaHarris’s comparison is disgraceful and insults the memories of those we lost.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich pointed out that the attacks on Pearl Harbor and September 11 also both led to war, noting:

“Kamala Harris comparison ofJanuary 6 to Pearl Harbor and 9/11 was just plain embarrassing.

“Even with the decay of California schools she should have known that thousands died at both and both led to wars. Embarrassingly ignorant.”

Re-Fund the Police

Former New York Police Department Commissioner Bernard Kerik, who was at the helm during the response to the attacks on September 11, 2001, pulled no punches when he tweeted that Harris is an “incompetent fool” and a “disgrace”:

“VP @KamalaHarris’ comparison to the out of control protest and trespassing on 1/6, to the attacks on America on Pearl Harbor and 9/11 where 5,380 Americans died, is nothing more than political theater by an incompetent fool.

“She is a disgrace to the office she holds.”

Judge Jeanine Pirro referred to Harris’s comparisons as “outright fantasy,” tweeting:

“At a time of great consequence in history, Kamala Harris engages not in hyperbole, but outright fantasy.

“She is a joke, and not the funny kind.”

Others took to social media to point out Harris’ obvious hypocrisy of condemning the actions on January 6 while ignoring, if not enabling, the criminal activities involved in the widespread BLM/Antifa riots throughout the United States.

Twitter user Greg Price wrote:

“When a two-hour riot happened at the Capitol, Kamala Harris compared it to 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.

“When neighborhoods in Minneapolis were burned to the ground, Kamala Harris helped raise bail money for the people who did it.”

Author, conservative pundit, and BLEXIT founder Candace Owens noted additional hypocrisy on the part of Harris, asserting that Harris and Joe Biden made themselves available to talk freely about the events of January 6, but had relatively little to say after the Biden administration’s disastrous and deadly pullout from Afghanistan:

“Biden and Harris were unavailable to address the nation after they abandoned American citizens and troops to die in Afghanistan.

“But they are fully available to play-pretend about ‘January 6th’.

“The Democrats continue to be a national disgrace.”

Harris also came under criticism for playing fast and loose with history.

She intoned later in her speech:

“You know, I wonder how will January 6 come to be remembered in the years ahead.

“Will it be remembered as a moment that accelerated the unraveling of the oldest, greatest democracy in the world?”

Setting aside for a moment the fact that the United States is actually a Constitutional republic, Harris apparently ignored centuries of history, which Twitter users were only to happy to point out.

One wrote:

“The oldest and greatest democracy in the world”….. eh??? where did she go to school?”

Another threw in a bit of historical perspective, tweeting:

“Kamala Harris on Capital hill ‘we are preserving the greatest and oldest democracy in the world’

“Oh dear.

“The concepts (and name) of democracy and constitution as a form of government originated in ancient Athens circa 508 B.C.”
