Chinese sociologist claims China will overtake the US and effectively ‘put an end to it’

SHENZHEN, CHINA – MEMRI TV, a research organization that normally tracks Islamic extremism and anti-Semitism around the world, reported that Dr. Li Yi, a Chinese sociologist, stated that it is only a matter of time before China overtakes the United States and effectively puts an end to it.

MEMRI, a media source that according to their website, “bridges the cap between the West and the Middle East,” reported:

“Chinese sociologist Dr. Li Yi said in an October 16, 2020 speech delivered at the Shenzhenwan Dialogue Forum in Shenzhen, China that China would overtake the United States in GDP by 2027, and that COVID-19 has been harmful to the U.S. and Europe but beneficial to China and North Korea.

“Dr. Yi holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Illinois and according to his LinkedIn account, he is a full-time professor at Renmin University in China. Following Dr. Yi’s October 16 speech, Renmin University issued a statement denying his employment at the university.”

Dr. Yi made more daring claims, as reported on Twitter:

“We Are Driving America to Its Death; COVID-19 Has Been Beneficial for China, North Korea; There Will Be No U.S.-China War, But We Will Take Over Taiwan.”

Dr. Li Yi made a series of inflammatory statements during his speech:

“It turns out that China is going to overtake the United States in 2027. It was said that this might be delayed for a year or two, but this year, God has pulled off a little trick, right? God created COVID-19 and spread it to every country in the world.

“COVID-19 is bad for Europe and America, but it is beneficial for North Korea and China.

“We still have 4,000 dead, right? But if 4,000 (Chinese) die versus 220,000 in the United States, we haven’t really lost a single person, have we? We’re close to zero infections and zero deaths. If 4,000 people out of 1.4 billion die, that’s the same as no one getting sick and no one dying.

“In the global economy, China stands out. We are ahead of schedule in terms of overtaking the United States. There will be no problem reaching this goal in 2027. The U.S. will not survive.

“As long as 1.4 billion Chinese people eat, sleep, defecate, and urinate every day, as long as we go to work every day, we will drive the U.S. to its death.”

United States and British sources have disputed Dr. Li Yi’s claims about China and North Korea.

In a report filed by The New York Post, North Korea and Kim Jong Un reacted harshly, especially considering Dr. Yi’s modest statements:

“North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un executed two people, closed the country’s capital, and banned fishing at sea in a frantic attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus, South Korea’s spy agency told lawmakers Friday.

“The tyrant has been lashing out with ‘excessive anger’ and taking ‘irrational measures’ in recent weeks as a result of the pandemic, according to Ha Tae-keung, an official who was briefed by National Intelligence Service.”

The Daily Wire reported:

“North Korea is so isolated from the rest of the world and is so underdeveloped that a report last year from the prestigious Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health ranked the nation 193 out of 195 nations in terms of being prepared to face a pandemic.

“Kim spoke at an alleged military parade last month where he claimed that North Korea had not had a single coronavirus victim.”

CNN reported with similar skepticism:

“Few experts believe that North Korea, a country of nearly 25 million people, which shares a border with China, could have escaped the effects of a pandemic that has infected more than 36 million people worldwide, and killed more than 1 million people.”

Others are skeptical towards China’s continued success:

“And it only took them thousands of years, 5 times the population, and considerable theft & dishonesty to overtake a civilization made wholesale out of a vast wilderness less than 300 years ago.”

Coincidence? James Mattis, who slammed Trump’s ‘America First’ policy, has position with firm dealing with China

November 28, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC- This past week, Law Enforcement Today reported that former Defense Secretary James Mattis wrote a foreign affairs column in which he slammed President Trump’s “America First” policy, which gives American businesses priority over foreign businesses, including those in China. He suggested that Biden scrap the policy, should he be sworn in as president.

Now, the Washington Times and other outlets are reporting that Mattis failed to disclose one important fact—that he holds a senior position at The Cohen Group. The firm dedicates itself to making business deals in China—how weird is that?

The Times said that the president’s America First policy imposes a “get-tough” policy on China—which amount to tariffs and prohibitions on China’s cyber products. It runs in opposition to the Cohen Group’s objective of bringing Chinese and U.S. companies together in multimillion dollar deals.

Mattis co-wrote the column with three other writers in Foreign Affairs. However, he conveniently forgot to mention his ties to the Cohen Group, as well as failing to speak out against China slamming United States policies toward Taiwan, or the strict retaliation China took economically against Australia.

The Tennessee Star reported that Mattis slammed Trump administration policies toward Beijing, policies boosted by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Those policies run counter to The Cohen Group’s approach toward international business dealings with the communist country.

In true Washington-swamp style, The Cohen Group was founded by former defense secretary William Cohen and is staffed by a significant number of former high-ranking government and military officials, with two of its offices in China, the Washington Times noted.

While the Nov. 23 ForeignAffairs.com column was written with three others, the national media focused on Mattis due to his former status as a Trump cabinet official and high ranking general in the United States military.

The Times noted that the policies advocated in the column strongly mirror the U.S. China approach under the Obama administration. It offered a glimpse by how a potential Biden administration could reverse Trump’s approach toward China and put their interests ahead of this country.

While Mattis was identified in the column as a former defense secretary and a fellow at Hoover Institution, it conveniently neglected to mention his role as senior counselor at the Cohen Group, with headquarters in Washington, D.C.

In the column, Mattis and the other three authors discounted Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s policy of encouraging Asian countries to kick back against China’s attempts to dominate world trade.

However, in the column, the four never mentioned China’s declared economic war against Australia, retaliation for that country’s call for an international investigation into the origins of the coronavirus.

The Cohen Group says on it’s website:

“China is a market of enormous opportunity and complexity,” while adding that the group’s China Practice “has a solid record of success with professionals in offices in Beijing, Tianjin, and Washington, DC.”

Cohen has been involved with China since 1978, according to the organization’s website, where he met with Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. It goes on to say:

“Since then, he has been a constant presence in the U.S.-China relationship, including commercial development and security cooperation.”

The organization noted that Cohen serves on the Board of Directors of the U.S.-China Business Council.

Mattis joined the Cohen Group in 2019 as a senior counselor. Not too long after, he resigned to protest the administration’s troop withdrawals from Syria.

The recent op-ed wasn’t the first time Mattis has criticized President Trump. Earlier this year, Mattis, along with a group of retired four-star officers, slammed the president in a series of articles, tweets and other commentary. As we said, the swamp runs deep.

In the op-ed, Mattis wrote:

“Crucially the United States should not press countries to choose outright between the two powers. A ‘with us or against us’ approach plays to China’s advantage, because the economic prosperity of U.S. allies and partners hinges on strong trade and investment relationships with Beijing.

“Rather than treating countries as pawns in a great-power competition, a better approach would emphasize common codes of behavior and encourage states to publicly promulgate a vision for their country’s sovereign future and the types of partnerships they need to pursue it.

“It would also expand the cooperative space in which all countries supporting a rules-based order can work together to advance shared interests.

“Cooperation across different ideological systems is difficult but necessary, and there should be opportunities to cooperate with China in areas of overlapping interests such as pandemic response, climate change and nuclear security.”

Mattis also urged Biden to remove “America First” from American foreign policy across the board.

When Mattis joined The Cohen Group in September 2019, the announcement called Mattis “a national treasure.” Mattis’ picture is prominently displayed on the company’s webpage.

The website continues:

“Building upon decades of experience, on-the-ground management expertise, and longtime personal and professional relationships throughout the region, TCG’s China Practice helps companies succeed in the Chinese market.

“TCG enables Fortune 500 companies, as well as small-and medium-sized enterprises to achieve their commercial goals in China through tailored government, business, and media relations strategies.”

Despite Mattis’ sucking up to China, another former defense secretary, Robert Gates, praised President Trump’s foreign policy. On Meet the Press, Gates said:

“At least he has not started any new wars. And he has robustly funded the military. I thought his challenging China was about time.”

Gates noted that China was welcomed into the family of nations around 20 years ago, which China repaid by violating trade rules in order to gain advantages.

Under President Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo released a series of sanctions against China’s drive to lead the world in trade. The sanctions used tariffs to cease China’s unfair trade practices and called out the communist nation for illegal theft of U.S. inventions and personal identities, while also spying on colleges, businesses, and the government.

The FBI opened numerous counter-intelligence investigations into Chinese nationals, and estimates the country broke into computer networks, while stealing personal information from around half the American population.

The administration also ordered the shutdown of the Chinese consulate in Houston, while referring to it as nothing more than an intelligence hub. In addition, the administration has forbidden U.S. companies from doing business with Chinese companies who support the People’s Liberation Army.

Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications company, has been referred to as a spying tool.

Far worse, Pompeo and congressional Republicans accused the communist country of hiding the origins of the coronavirus outbreak, initially suggesting that it was not contagious while travelers from the country visited the U.S. and Europe. President Trump has referred to COVID-19 as the “China virus.”

Biden, while serving as vice president under Obama, was the administration’s point man in China. Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that Biden’s son Hunter, and his brother James, made multi-million dollar deals in the nation.

A Senate Republican report showed the flow of cash to Hunter and James Biden. It was based on Treasury Department suspicious activity reports (SARS), which are filed by lending institutions when they suspect illegal activity such as money laundering.

But don’t worry folks, nothing to see here. Biden’s connections with China were hidden by the mainstream media and Silicon Valley tech companies in the leadup to the election.

However, in a 2011 speech, Biden promised to integrate China into American life, this as his son was making business contacts in the country.

Biden said:

“In order to cement this robust partnership, we have to go beyond close ties between Washington and Beijing, which we’re working on every day, go beyond it to include all levels of government, go beyond it to include classrooms and laboratories, authentic fields, and boardrooms.”

Meanwhile in the past year, several Chinese in the U.S. on education visas have been arrested for integrating with Chinese communists.

It is now clear why Mattis is trying to convince Biden to ditch the America First mantra. Given Biden’s ties to China, it shouldn’t be too hard to do so.
