LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Police in Little Rock say a road rage incident led to a three-year-old being shot and killed Saturday night.

Officers say the shooting happened at Warren and Mablevale Cutoff in southwest Little Rock.

A woman was at a stop sign at the intersection of Warren and Mablevale Cutoff in southwest Little Rock, according to police. She told officers that a black Impala pulled up behind her and the driver honked his horn, reported ArkansasMatters. The woman had her three-year old grandson with her.

The driver of the Impala got out of his vehicle and fired one shot at the car, according to the initial report from LRPD.

The woman continued driving to JC Penney at Shackleford Crossing Shopping Center. She arrived about 6:25 p.m. Upon arrival she noticed her grandson was shot.

The Little Rock Police Department believe the grandmother and three-year-old are innocent victims and have no relationship with the suspect.

Police Chief Kenton Buckner was also on scene Saturday. He said the shooting was a senseless act of violence.

“I certainly have no information to say that anyone in this family has done anything to cause this young person’s life but this is about as frustrating as you can be as a public safety official or just a plain citizen,” said Buckner.

Little Rock Police Department is requesting help locating the older black Chevrolet Imapla driven by a tall, black, male. Anyone with information that can help find the shooter should contact LRPD.
