Three people including a sheriff’s deputy were shot on Wednesday morning after police responded to reports of a domestic dispute, Fox 8 News reported.

Now local authorities say they have their suspect in custody.

Though many details have not yet been made public, we have heard confirmed reports that deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a domestic dispute around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When the deputies arrived at 167 Cox Avenue in Linwood, the suspect was reportedly already standing outside of the residence.

It’s not clear exactly what happened next, but what we do know is that a male deputy, who has not yet been identified, was first to arrive on scene and was struck at least one time by gunfire. A Davidson County Sheriff’s deputy returned fire, striking the suspect.

The suspect was hit twice, allowing officers to move in and place him under arrest.

The wounded deputy was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for his gunshot injuries. The sheriff’s office confirmed that he was awake and alert, able to talk as he received medical attention.

There is no word on the condition of the suspect of the female victim at this time.

Reporters on the scene quickly flooded social media with updates to the situation, stating that in addition to the wounded officer and suspect, a woman had also been shot.

A perimeter was quickly setup around Old Linwood Road and Belmont Road, which is near Lexington.

When media crews initially began arriving at the scene, they were told that they could not go any further onto the street as the responding deputies and suspect were “still shooting.”

That was around 10:30 a.m.

A medivac helicopter arrived at the scene to transport one of the victims. Reporters trying to get to the scene reported seeing armored vehicles racing toward the shooting.

Reporters described a massive police presence at the scene.
