BURLINGTON, Vt. – Last week, the popular Ice Cream Company in Vermont declared support for the Black Lives Matter, which gained backlash from pro-police citizens. In response, Blue Lives Matter is asking all Americans to boycott Ben & Jerry’s products.

LET reported this story earlier in the week if you’d like to read more.

In a blog post on Oct. 10, Blue Lives Matter wrote its viewpoint on Ben & Jerry’s statement of support for the Black Lives Matter, criticizing it as a misinformation campaign.  In their perspective, Ben & Jerry’s accuses law enforcement of widespread systemic and institutionalized racism.

Part of the post read: “Blue Lives Matter is calling on all Americans to send a message to Ben & Jerry’s, and parent company Unilever, to boycott all Ben & Jerry’s products. Black Lives Matter is not a civil rights group. Most people have their own personal beliefs about what Black Lives Matter means to them. They think that their personal definition for Black Lives Matter is what the organized BLM groups stand for; this is not the case. While we believe that other companies were misguided, Ben & Jerry’s campaign is dangerous.”

In fairness to Ben & Jerry’s, they made the following qualifying remarks:

“We want to be clear: we believe that saying Black lives matter is not to say that the lives of those who serve in the law enforcement community don’t. We respect and value the commitment to our communities that those in law enforcement make, and we respect the value of every one of their lives.”

Will this boycott resolve any problems? What do you think?
