Border Patrol Council endorses Rep. Elise Stefanik for House GOP chair – to replace Liz Cheney

In a recent report from Breitbart News, the National Border Patrol Council has reportedly endorsed Rep. Elise Stefanik to replace Rep. Liz Cheney as the new House GOP conference chair, following reports that Rep. Cheney potentially faces a removal from House GOP leadership.

In recent weeks, Rep. Cheney has come under heavy scrutiny by members of her own political party, much of it stemming from her voting to impeach former President Donald Trump and her continued remarks criticizing him.

According to a recent report from Politico, outside of Rep. Cheney facing the ire of her colleagues in Congress, her constituents in Wyoming could very well vote her completely out of office.

In a matter of months, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney has gone from a rising star in the Republican party to a near pariah, which Politico pointed out in their report:

“The collapse in support is a remarkable fall from grace for Cheney, who just last year passed on an open Senate seat in her state to remain in House leadership instead.”

“After ascending to GOP conference chair — the same post her father once held — she was touted as a future House speaker. Now, it’s impossible to call her anything other than an underdog in her own congressional seat.”

This fall from popularity has spawned potential contenders for Rep. Cheney’s current role as the House GOP conference chair, considering that she may very well be ousted by her colleagues in Congress.

One person in particular that has been getting touted as a possible replacement of Rep. Cheney is Rep. Elise Stefanik.

Recently, National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd issued an endorsement from the entity in favor of Rep. Stefanik:

“As President Biden’s policies continue to create the worst surge in illegal immigration in our history, it is more important than ever for our leaders to share a unified message in Congress on the importance of border security.”

“Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is the strongest member to share and grow our message of securing our border and protecting our communities.”

In Judd’s released statement on the matter, he pointed out that he’d met with numerous lawmakers over the years while having served as the president of the union that represents Border Patrol agents, noting that some have been lackluster while others have been inspiring:

“I have been impressed by some and underwhelmed by others. I am happy to say Congresswoman Stefanik easily fits into the first category. She is one of the most ardent supporters of the Border Patrol’s mission as well as law enforcement generally.”

Judd believes that Rep. Stefanik’s positions on matters align almost perfectly with what’s needed to effectively accomplish the mission the Border Patrol is tasked with:

“Representative Stefanik supports funds to build the wall, technology to augment the Border Patrol’s capabilities, and more resources for the men and women on the front lines.”

“I am truly grateful to say in the strongest possible terms that Elise opposes policies that have been so dangerous for our communities such as sanctuary cities, licenses for illegal immigrants, and public assistance for those who chose to violate our immigration laws (the magnets that draw people and encourage them to cross our borders illegally).”

“She also opposes amnesty for those whose very first act in coming to the U.S. was to knowingly and willingly cross our borders illegally. Representative Stefanik has been a true border security champion.”

However, Rep. Stefanik does have a record of voting and taking positions that is questionable on whether she’d be as much of a modern Republican stalwart as current supporters think she would be.

For instance, Rep. Stefanik voted against former President Trump’s effort to declare a national emergency regarding the construction of the border wall. Additionally, she also crossed party lines and supported DACA in 2018.

That’s not all either – Rep. Stefanik also co-sponsored a bill that would see 4,000 new green cards handed out to Afghanis and co-sponsored the “Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2019”.

Not to mention, Rep. Stefanik also lobbied for foreign workers to keep coming into the country while millions of Americans were jobless during the height of the pandemic. Furthermore, she called then-President Trump’s 2017 decision to separate from the Paris Climate Accords a “mistake” and “misguided”.

In other news related to matters involving Congress members, Rep. Majorie Greene recently revealed the real reason behind a recently postponed “Back the Blue” rally that was slated to occur earlier in May.

Here’s that previous report.

In a recent Facebook post, U.S. Rep Majorie Greene shared the truth about why the “Back the Blue Rally ‘that was supposed to take place on May 1st in Columbus, Ohio, has instead been postponed.

According to her post, with less than 48 hours before the planned event, that the organizers paid and received a permit for, Ohio State Patrol called to inform them that a large counter “protest” by Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa was also being planned and there would be no security fencing provided for the permitted and paid for rally. Greene wrote:

“At all their events they have had at the Columbus Capitol in the past, there has been security fencing provided and a counter protest area provided so that everyone’s first amendment rights were met and so that everyone’s security needs were met.

However, within less than 48 hours before the event, this time all past security measures were thrown out the window.”

Greene continued:

“Why? The organizers were told that legal counsel for Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board and legal counsel for Ohio State Patrol had met and decided there would be no security fencing allowed to separate the Pro-Police rally attendees and the organized domestic terrorist BLM/Antifa forces after having a conversation with BLM, who told them they would be there, that BLMS’s first amendment rights cannot be denied.”

She added:

“Why? My security director, who called to organize security for me as a promoted speaker for this event, was also told by the liaison for the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board that they would not provide security for me.

When he asked if there were any off-duty officers we could hire for security, he was told no.”

According to reports, Greene and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Josh Mandel were among some of the confirmed speakers for the event. The “Back the Blue Freedom Rally!” was organized by Ohio Gun Owners. Chris Door, executive director of the group, said in a statement:

“I think it’s high time that we let the law enforcement community know that they regular, law-abiding community has their backs, we definitely support them. We didn’t want them to be forgotten, so it’s a good time to throw a rally in support of them.”

He added:

“We want people most of all to come away with hope. So many people are prone to try and make law-abiding, peaceful, normal citizens feel guilty in some way.

We want them to know that they’re not forgotten, that law enforcement officers are not forgotten, that there’s nothing to be ashamed of, that there’s nothing to back down from or apologize for, that we’re free Americans and we still live in the greatest country on earth.”

In her post, Greene pushed on about there not being any security or security fencing for this rally. She wanted to know why would people purposely put the lives of innocent people in danger. She wrote:

“Why would attorneys demand that radical violent BLM/Antifa be allowed in a Pro-Police rally after they have burned cities, looted businesses, attacked and killed innocent people like former police Captain David Dorn, attacked police officers night after night and day after day, taken over police precincts, attacked federal property and monuments, and wreaked terror and destruction for the past year on cities all across America?”

She continued:

“Is it really about BLM’s first amendment rights? This sounds like these attorneys were demanding the perfect scenario for BLM/Antifa to come in and provoke violence and attach innocent Pro-Police rally attendees and police officers so that they would be forced to defend themselves.”

Greene added:

“This sounds like these attorneys were demanding the perfect scenario for the left and the media to be able to lie and blame any violence on Pro-Police people and police officers, when it reality these attorneys were the ones who demanded there be no security fencing in the first place, putting innocent lives in danger by the radicals planning to attack.”

According to reports, on Thursday, April 29th, Dorr posted a Facebook video declaring that the event has been postponed, citing concerns about counterprotests. Dorr said:

“We have to let Antifa and Black Lives Matter and some of these violent protesters into our event and they have equal right to stand there and say what they want to and antagonize our members and our supporters, all the people there to back the blue. Our legal counsel says yes.”

Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) spokesman Mike Rupert said that the board did not deny Ohio Gun Owners’ permit or cancel the event. He said:

“The Ohio Gun Owners reached the decision to postpone their event and any question regarding that decision should be directed to them.”
