WASHINGTON, D.C.– Former Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Chief Mark Morgan said that President Joe Biden’s administration has released more than 45,000 border crossers and illegal immigrants into the United States interior.

According to reports, the Biden administration restarted the “Catch and Release” program, which means that border crossers are apprehended and them promptly released into the U.S. interior.
For context, the current totals indicate that the Biden administration has released a foreign population into the U.S. via the southern border that exceeds the resident population of Burlington, Vermont.
Because of Biden’s “sanctuary country” orders, after their release, border crossers as well as illegal immigrants with deportation orders, can only be deported if they are convicted of an aggravated felony, are a terrorist, or are a known gang member.

During a press conference with House Republicans at the southern border, Morgan said that internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data shows that the Biden administration has released more than 45,000 border crossers into the U.S. interior.
“Right now, if you’re an unaccompanied minor in Mexico, you’re being released into the interior of the United States. If you’re a family from the western hemisphere, right now, you are being released into the interior of the United States.”
“If you were once enrolled in the ‘Remain in Mexico’ program, you are now being brought to our border and released into the interior of the United States. The border is wide open and it’s not monitored.”

Morgan also said that internal DHS data predicts that an estimated 1.4 million border crossers will be apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border this year, which is a foreign population larger than the resident population of Dallas, Texas.
He added that in addition to those numbers, about 1,000 border crossers are successfully illegally entering the U.S. every day, going undetected by federal immigration officials. In one month, this equates to 30,000 illegal immigrants successfully thwarting federal immigration officials.
Forming Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Thomas Homan said that the restart of Catch and Release along with Biden’s sanctuary country orders preventing most deportations is “done by design.”
“This isn’t incompetence. This isn’t they don’t know what they’re doing. They know how to stop it. They’re doing the complete opposite.”

Morgan said that he and other Trump administration officials warned Biden’s transition team that by ending the Remain in Mexico program, by canceling U.S. asylum agreements with Central America, and by end the Centers for Disease Control’s Title 42 order, a surge of illegal immigration to the U.S. would be inevitable.
“We specifically told them, if you ended Remain in Mexico, if you ended Title 42, if you ended the asylum cooperative agreements with the Northern Triangle countries, you will cause, you will drive an unmitigated crisis that will make 2019 pale in comparison.”
“We told them that again and again. We told them that the surge numbers would skyrocket.”
From March 1st to March 22nd, alone Biden’s DHS released nearly 15,600 border crossers into the U.S. interior. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has suggested that border crossers receive COVID-19 testing before their release, however, the agency has yet to confirm any such testing and quarantine requirements.

In the final full three months of the Trump administration, DHS released just 42 border crossers into the U.S. interior. Compare that to Biden’s rate, a nearly 56,000 percent increase in the Catch and Release program.

Former acting ICE director slams Biden for blaming Trump for current border crisis: ‘They planned this whole thing’
March 15th, 2021
WASHINGTON, DC- A former Trump administration official lit into the Biden administration this past weekend, taking them to task over attempting to lay blame on former President Donald Trump for the disaster at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Tom Homan, former acting ICE director addressed claims that the current crisis at the border was “planned” during last year’s presidential campaign.
Homan, appearing on Fox News’ Fox and Friends told anchor Pete Hegseth that the current administration has undermined the previous, very successful policies implemented under the Trump administration where it concerns immigration policy, including the since-scuttled remain in Mexico policy.
Homan told Hegseth that in 2020, the number of alien minors entering the U.S. was down 70% from the year before. He also said that illegal entry into the country was down anywhere between 50-80%, depending on which month was being looked at.
“Last month, Joe Biden’s policy created a 300% increase in alien children,” Homan said.
“The border is not secure because the Biden administration has undone all the success of the Trump administration. You got a job to do, educate yourself, give me a call, I’ll tell you how to fix it,” Homan continued. “But you can’t go on national TV and say this is President Trump’s fault.”
Homan then went on to lay the blame squarely on Biden and the Democrats, claiming they planned the crisis during last year’s presidential campaign.
“When Joe Biden made those promises during the campaign of ending ICE detention, ending the remain in Mexico program, giving amnesty and DACA and healthcare…”
Homan said those promises are directly responsible for the current border situation, noting that “when you make those types of promises you know they’re going to come.”
He further blasted members of the Trump administration, as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for going on national TV and laying the blame on Trump and his team. Homan also said that Democrats cannot go on national television and admit to the American people that they had sold out the country to win an election.
“When you make those types of promises, you know they’re going to come. SO they can’t go on national TV and say we sold out America to win an election. Joe Biden can’t say ‘I folded to the left to get votes and gave up the security of the border.’
“Again, the most secure border we’ve ever seen under President Trump.”
Hegseth then brought up the fact that Alejandro Mayorkas, Department of Homeland Security Secretary had ordered FEMA to the border to help with the situation down there, noting that agency typically deals with “storms, floods and other major disasters, and questioned Homan if this was an admission that the border situation was in fact a “disaster.”
“Absolutely,” Homan said. “Actions speak louder than words,” while then noting that FEMA’s own mission statement, “Helping people before, during and after a catastrophic disaster or crisis” accurately describes the current situation at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“It is a disaster; it is a crisis,” Homan said.
He also noted that “you never saw anyone coming across the border wearing a Trump shirt” while noting that a lot of them were wearing Biden tee shirts coming across.
Meanwhile, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) laid blame squarely on Biden for the surge of migrants crossing into the country at the southern border.
On Fox News Sunday, Cassidy told host Chris Wallace in response to a question as to what degree Biden’s policies have caused the crisis.
“Empirically it is entirely. You can’t help but notice that the administration changes and there is a surge,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy also noted that one of Biden’s advisers had made a statement in Spanish that the border was not closed, and only changed her mind and claim in English that she had misspoken.
“I can tell you the Spanish version is being heard, not the English,” he said, noting that message is resonating with those coming to the U.S. and those who are sending their children here, even if it means putting them at risk.
“And so when people think they can get in, they begin sending their unaccompanied child on a train ride across Mexico where she may be kidnapped and trafficked, on the hope they’re going to be waved through at the border.”
Cassidy also addressed Mayorkas’ deployment of FEMA to the border.
“They’re sending FEMA for reinforcements—not for today, not for tomorrow, but for three weeks from now,” he said.
