As LET reported this weekend, Michael (call me Mike) Bloomberg is reportedly considering having one Hillary Clinton as a running mate as vice-president should he position himself to win the Democratic nomination for president.
Internal polling in the Bloomberg campaign has apparently shown that this would be a formidable ticket to opposed President Trump.
What would that mean for the Second Amendment? Nothing good.
Bloomberg and Clinton are two of the most pro-gun control politicians on the planet and having them on the same ticket would be a nightmare for proponents of Second Amendment rights.
Bloomberg famously is funding Moms Demand Action and Everytown, U.S.A., two far-left gun grabbing organizations. Both of these groups are on a mission to literally and figuratively gut the right to keep and bear arms.
What do Bloomberg and Clinton support? Let’s see…” assault weapons” ban, a “high-capacity” magazine ban, criminalization of private gun sales by implementing universal background checks…basically a nightmare scenario for gun rights in this country.
How radical a gun control nut is Bloomberg? Even when a good guy, armed with a gun took out the shooter at the church shooting in December that occurred in White Settlement, Texas, Bloomberg said that while it was good the attack was ended, taking out the shooter was a job for law enforcement, not a congregant of the church.
Jack Wilson, the hero congregant who wasted no time taking out the shooter likely saved dozens of lives by acting within mere seconds.
Wilson spoke out a few weeks later and said that Bloomberg’s idea would have resulted in people sitting there defenseless as the shooter picked people off while waiting for the police to arrive.
“Even though the White Settlement police department did arrive in roughly two minutes from the time the first call went in, by that time…the carnage would have been much worse,” Wilson said.
Wilson further said that if Bloomberg would give up his armed guards, he could better understand the struggle of the common man. BOOM!
Texas Department of Safety Director Joeff Williams praised Wilson and the other congregants for their fast response in taking out the shooter. ABC News quoted him as saying:
“The citizens who were inside that church undoubtedly saved 242 other parishoners. That might get swept aside in this whole conversation about active shooter response, and Go knows law enforcement has done a whole bunch of work to make our response better.”
Williams also mentioned that “over half of these [shootings] are over before [police] get there,” and he praised “the people who were sitting in the pews,” whom he called “immediate responders” who saved their fellow parishoners.
You will never see Bloomberg or any of the other gun-grabbing policiticans ever give credit to people such as Jack Wilson, instead deferring to law enforcement who unfortunately in many cases get there too late to prevent a number of deaths.
It is not the fault of law enforcement, it is simply a case that these incidents are generally over very quickly.
As much as Bloomberg would go all in on pushing stricter control on all types of firearms, Clinton has indicated her support to use executive power to secure gun control in spite of Congress.
In 2016, Wikileaks released emails that showed Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon acknowledged Clinton’s plan to use executive powers to implement gun control, specifically closing the so-called “gun show loophole.”
Fallon also said in no uncertain terms that Clinton supported opening gun manufacturers up to lawsuits over the criminal use of their products. What could possibly go wrong with that??
Clinton has also supported punitive taxes on gun sales, upwards of 25 percent. ABC news reported that Clinton had supported such a tax when Bill Clinton was president, and on June 5, 2016 told George Stephanopoulos that her support for the tax was part of a push for nationalized healthcare.
As far as what Bloomberg has in store for gun owners, here are a few tidbits:
-Require point of sale background checks for all gun sales and close the so-called “private sale loophole” which allows prohibited people to buy guns by finding unlicensed sellers at gun shows or on the Internet
-Require every gun buyer to get a permit before making a purchase
-Allow for extreme risk screening before guns are purchased so that issuers would be equipped to deny permits to troubled people who pose a danger to themselves or others
-Require all gun buyers to wait at least 48 hours before any firearm purchase
-Pass a federal red flag law that expands extreme risk orders to 50 states—and funds state efforts to maximize that policy
-Reinstate the federal ban on so-called “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines
-Require secure storage of firearms which have been shown to reduce the risk of child gun injuries by up to 85 percent, yet an estimated 4.6 million children live in houses with an unlocked gun
-Ban all guns in K-12 schools, colleges and universities—except for law enforcement.
-The laws which are advocated by Bloomberg and Clinton, both those which they jointly support or which they support individually would mirror only California as to the level of gun control that would be possible.
California currently has the strictest gun-control laws in the country and has virtually every gun control law that a Bloomberg/Clinton ticket would push on Americans at a federal level.
This would mean that on a national basis, a Bloomberg/Clinton team in the White House would impose California-like gun control across the country, whether it was Texas or Jew Jersey.
For what it’s worth, the Bloomberg campaign is downplaying the rumor about a possible Bloomberg/Clinton ticket. But the responses to the tweet are priceless.

Realistically however it does not really matter who the Democrats nominate for president. All the candidates are anti-gun zealots and were they to win, they would be the most anti-gun president in the history of the United States.
