WASHINGTON, DC – Joe Biden has declared that 2 million illegal aliens may rush the southern border if immigration and asylum laws are immediately rewritten, while he also hinted at a “family reunification” policy that would encourage mass immigration at the southern border.
NEW — Biden will not immediately roll back Trump immigration and border restrictions, Susan Rice and Jake Sullivan tell Spanish news agency EFE, and Title 42, MPP etc will take time to undo, despite campaign promises for "Day One" reversals https://t.co/HcmH8cGBWx

Biden, who has long been an opponent of President Donald Trump’s views on securing the nation’s southern border, talked about his plans on reuniting families who have illegally crossed the border. At a Dec. 22 press conference, Biden said:
“We already started discussing these issues with the President of Mexico and our friends in Latin America, and the timeline is to do it so that we in fact make it better, not worse. The last thing we need is to say we’re going to stop immediately the [curbed] access to asylum the way it’s been run now and end up with 2 million people on our border.

“It’s a matter of setting up the guardrails so we can move the direction. I will accomplish what I said I would do – a much humane policy based on family unification.”
It is unknown what Biden means by this other than he does not seemingly want to open the borders immediately for fear of a dramatic rush from illegal aliens. However, his statement seems to imply that he wants to bring in relatives of children who illegally crossed the border and allow them to stay in the United States.
From 2009 to 2019, it is estimated that 3 million people from Central America illegally entered the United States under then-President Barack Obama. In 2019, Trump enacted changes to the immigration policies that dramatically curbed illegal migration.
Family members of unauthorized immigrants are now eligible to get stimulus checks under the $900 billion deal reached last night. That eligibility is retroactive, so adults excluded last time could get up to $1800 now https://t.co/UEyVqvPd4f

Breitbart News notes that the “family reunification” population could mean an additional million or more people. The increase of illegal aliens in the United States will mean a drain on federal programs that are designed to feed, house, educate, and provide medical care for illegal aliens.
Biden, in talking about the pace in which his reforms might take shape, said:
“But it requires getting a lot in place and requires getting the funding to get in place, including just asylum judges for example. It will get done, and it will get done quickly, but it’s not going to be able to be done on Day One, [because we would have to] lift every restriction that exists…and go back to what it was 20 years ago, and all of a sudden, find out that we have a crisis on our hand that complicates what we are trying to do…It is going to take probably the next six months to put that in place.”
Joe Biden’s pro-migration policies are inviting another blue-collar migration flood across the southern border, say his Democrat allies. https://t.co/N8Twl45ynE

While many progressives and Democrats would hail Biden’s initiative and thought process when it comes to allowing more illegal aliens into the country, the director of the Center for Immigration Studies, Mark Krikorian, believes that Biden will fail. Krikorian does not think that Biden will be able to successfully balance the interests of three groups: those who support a strong border, those who support his migration policies and those who wish to enter the country illegally. Krikorian said:
“[Biden’s aides] are not stupid. They understand [their views are] unpopular with the public, so they’re going to try to manage expectations – both of the voters and of potential migrants – so that two things happen. One, the changes are introduced slowly, not all at once, and they do what they can to hide the consequences…So that the Biden people can say ‘Look, we’re not crazy on immigration.’ And they hope to dampen the enthusiasm of prospective illegal aliens. I don’t think they’re going to succeed at that, but that’s their objective.”
According to Krikorian, Biden’s immigration reforms may just blow up in his and fellow Democrats’ faces during the 2022 midterm elections. He said:
“Biden’s attempt to slow walk this crisis are merely queuing up a crisis during the midterm elections. If they had a really big crisis now and then tried to do something to limit it, then the political effects might actually become less serious than by trying to kick the can down the road so that the beginning of 2022 is when things really explode.”

Remember when Biden called to build a wall and crack down on drugs from Mexico and illegal immigration?
April 29, 2020
This editorial is brought to you by a former Chief of Police.
The internet is forever. And that spells a bit of a problem for Democrat Joe Biden, at least where it concerns securing our southern border. Biden’s website speaks to his position on the southern border, and says that he is opposed to building a wall on the border. However, Biden’s own past statements about a wall contradict his own platform.
On his campaign website under “immigration,” Biden speaks to President Trump’s desire to build a wall to secure the southern border:
“His obsession with building a wall does nothing to address security challenges while costing taxpayers billions of dollars. Most contraband comes in through our legal ports of entry. It’s estimated that nearly half of the undocumented people living in the U.S. today have overstayed a visa, not crossed a border illegally.”
Biden’s campaign also called for an end to the “so-called National Emergency that siphons federal dollars from the Department of Defense to build a wall.” Building a wall will do little to deter criminals and cartels seeking to exploit our borders.
“Instead of stealing resources from schools for military children and recovery efforts in Puerto Rico, Biden will direct federal resources to smart border enforcement efforts, like investments in improving screening infrastructure at our ports of entry that will actually keep America safer.”
Well, in a rather inconvenient look back on Biden’s “I was for it before I was against it” moment, video has resurfaced once again in which Biden was unabashed in his support for a 700-mile southern border wall.
HuffPost reported that in the speech, he also warned of “tons” of drugs coming into the country from “corrupt Mexico” and called for a crackdown on American employers who hired “illegals.”
The speech, given at the Rotary Club in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2006 has Biden saying:
“Folks, I voted for a fence. I voted, unlike most Democrats—and some of you won’t like it—I voted for 700 miles of fence.
“But, let me tell you, we can build a fence 40 stories high—unless you change the dynamic in Mexico and—and you will not like this, and—punish American employers who knowingly violate the law when, in fact, they hire illegals. Unless you do these two things, all the rest is window dressing.”
Besides Biden, both former President Barack Obama, as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton—who were senators at the time—also supported the bill.
HuffPost also notes that Biden had actually mirrored many of the talking points currently held by President Donald Trump. Biden told those in attendance:
“Now, I know I’m not supposed to say it bluntly, but they’re the facts, they’re the facts. And so everything else we do is in between here. Everything else we do is at the margins. And the reason why I add that parenthetically, why I believe the fence is needed does not have anything to do with immigration as much as drugs.”
“…people are driving across that border with tons, tons, here me, tons of everything from byproducts for methamphetamine to cocaine to heroin, and it’s all coming up through corrupt Mexico.”
In September of that same year, Biden said that he would not permit sanctuary cities to ignore the federal law.
Again, at a separate event prior to being announced as Obama’s running mate, Biden doubled down on accountability for businesses that employ “illegals.” He said:
“In fact, the person we should send to jail is not the illegals, we send to jail the employers.”
Of course, now that Biden is running for president as a Democrat, the party of open borders, anything goes good time rock and roll, Biden has done a 180.
In a campaign event last year, Biden said that he would “stop separating families at the border,” as well as double down on the DACA program, whereby children of illegals whose parents brought them here when they were young could remain in the United States.
Biden also wants to “rescind the un-American travel and refugee bans,” saying the Trump Administration’s so-called “anti-Muslim bias” has a negative effect on the American economy and somehow serves as a terrorist recruiting tool.
Biden’s campaign makes the not-so-veiled claim that the travel ban is “racist” because that’s the go-to for Democrats…everything is racist.
Biden’s flip-flop is of course nothing new for Democrats. For example, Obama underwent a period of political dyslexia concerning same-sex marriage; he was for it in 1996, wasn’t sure about it two years later in 1998, turned against it six years later in 2004, and then supported it as president in 2012. That’s called political expediency.
Then Hillary Clinton “evolved” on matters ranging from same-sex marriage to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), to her vote for the Iraq war. See, that’s pretty much how Democrats roll.
They stick their finger in the air, see which way the breeze is blowing, and then form their “policy” decisions based upon consensus.
Of course, Republicans can be just as guilty. They used to be for limited government, but just went on a $4 trillion spending spree to try to have the federal government buy our way out of a recession caused by the government-mandated shutdown of businesses across the country.
