Biden doubles down on NRA targeting, says he will ‘defeat’ them

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a recent statement commemorating the tenth anniversary of the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords, Joe Biden placed the National Rifle Association firmly in his cross hairs.

On January 8, 2021, Biden gave a brief speech in which he recalled the attack of January 8, 2011.  On that day at a constituent event in Tucson, Arizona, a shooter killed six people, wounded many others, and seriously wounded Rep. Giffords.

Biden went on in the speech to praise Giffords, stating:

“Like so many survivors of violence, Gabby has turned tragedy into purpose, working with other leaders across the country to transform the fight for gun safety reform from a cause to a movement.”

Biden concluded his statement by saying:

“As President, I pledge to continue to work together with Congresswoman Giffords, and with survivors, families, and advocates across the country, to defeat the NRA and end the epidemic of gun violence in America.”

Biden reiterated this pledge in a January 8 tweet to Giffords, in which he said:

“@GabbyGiffords — Your perseverance and immeasurable courage continue to inspire me and millions of others.

“I pledge to continue to work with you — and with survivors, families, and advocates across the country — to defeat the NRA and end our epidemic of gun violence.”

Biden’s open opposition to the NRA is nothing new.

In a campaign stop in 2019 in New Hampshire, Biden bragged:

“I’m the only guy ever nationally to beat the NRA.”

Just over a year ago, on January 8, 2020, Biden tweeted:

“We have to beat the NRA.”

His 2020 campaign website even invoked his stance against the gun rights advocacy organization.

Under his proposal entitled “The Biden Plan to End Our Gun Violence Epidemic,” Biden’s campaign website proclaims:

“Joe Biden has taken on the National Rifle Association (NRA) on the national stage and won – twice.

“In 1993, he shepherded through Congress the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, which established the background check system that has since kept more than 3 million firearms out of dangerous hands.”

It goes on to say:

“In 1994, Biden – along with Senator Dianne Feinstein – secured the passage of 10-year bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

“As president, Joe Biden will defeat the NRA again.”

Ironically, the shooter who targeted Giffords and other victims in the 2011 attack passed his background check in order to obtain the firearm he used.

The NRA responded to Biden’s statement with a tweet encouraging gun owners to stay alert and involved.

They wrote:

“On Friday, Biden pledged to DEFEAT THE NRA.

“Biden wants to ban our semi-auto rifles, tax our guns/mags & more.

“He knows the only thing standing in his way to DISMANTLE THE 2ND AMENDMENT is NRA.”

The tweet concluded:

“Gun owners must stay vigilant & be engaged in elections and the legislative process.”

Biden’s campaign website does indeed include a number of plans that promise to limit the rights of law-abiding gun owners to bear arms.

Joe Biden has promised to “prioritize” repeal of legislation that protects gun manufacturers from civil liability for use of their products.

Gun purchases are to be limited to one per month, online sales of “firearms, ammunition, kits and gun parts” are to be prohibited, and safe storage is to be mandated by law.

Biden has also promised to ban the manufacture and sale of so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity magazines,” and to ban the import of “assault weapons” via “executive authority.”

In addition, he plans to require registration of “assault weapons” and “high-capacity magazines,” by forcing those who do not participate in a government “buyback” to register these items.

Biden also promised on his campaign website to incentivize states to insert themselves further in gun ownership, by encouraging “red flag” laws and enacting legislation requiring states to force gun owners to obtain a license before a gun purchase.

Biden also claims that the NRA and gun manufacturers are “bullying” those who sell so-called “smart guns,” and he plans for all guns sold in the U.S. to be “smart guns” in the future — guns which allow only “authorized users” to fire a weapon.

Biden to business owners: Help is on the way. But ‘white males’ aren’t on the priority list.

The following contains editorial content written by a retired Chief of Police and current staff writer for Law Enforcement Today.

WILMINGTON, DE- Kiss off white business owners. You better reach out to Barstool Sports because the incoming Biden administration has no interest in helping you out. Biden announced that his administration plans on helping small businesses hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While he didn’t say so specifically, those businesses were hard-hit mainly due to punishing “emergency” orders put in place by power-hungry mayors and governors. Oh, one little catch however. If you’re a white business owner, Biden is telling you to basically go pound sand.

In his announcement, Biden said:

“Our focus will be on small businesses on Main Street that aren’t wealthy and well-connected, that are facing real economic hardships through no fault of their own. Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian and Native American-owned small businesses, women-owned businesses and finally having equal access to resources needed to reopen and rebuild,” BizPacReview reported.

In other words, if you’re white and you own a business, screw you. You’re on your own.

Biden continued, “But we’re gonna make a concerted effort the help small businesses in low-income communities, in big cities, small towns, rural communities that have faced systemic barriers to relief,” old Joe said in a video clip on the transition team’s Twitter feed.

They apparently still have a Twitter feed because…well they’re Democrats.

Biden did not say whether businesses burned to the ground during Democrat-encouraged riots would also be eligible for relief funds, since many minority owned businesses were destroyed in the months-long riots which were encouraged by Democrats, including Biden’s choice for vice president, Kamala Harris.

Biden ignored the fact that businesses across all demographics have been eviscerated by the pandemic and related subjective business restrictions. He did not clarify why he believes there is some type of “systemic” barrier to relief for these businesses. But hey, it sounds good and plays right into the hands of the Democrat base.

Ironically, where Democrats like to accuse the Republican party of being the party of the rich and well-connected, it is the Democrat party that is beholden to Wall Street and Silicon Valley fatcats.

Biden, who has ZERO business experience (at least with American companies) then drew the notion that so-called “mom and pop” business owners don’t have the wherewithal to be able to call up a banker for help.

“Think of the mom and pop owner with a couple of employees who can’t pick up the phone and call a banker, who doesn’t have a lawyer, an accountant, to help them through this complicated process to know if they’re even qualified or who simply don’t know where this relief is available in the first place.”

Well, Joe isn’t that up to the government, whom you believe to be the be all, end all to reach out to small businesses through some type of ombudsman and let them know what is available? And not just minority-owned businesses but ALL businesses?

Biden then referenced “when we brought Detroit back off its knees.” We? Detroit? Really?

Biden then stammered through the rest of his statement:

“And as we saw in this morning’s jobs report, restaurants, bars and hospitality industry have been slammed by this virus. We’re going to direct those businesses and others that have been so badly hit—hit the hardest. We owe them that support to help them get through the other side of this crisis.”

Gee Joe, maybe you could start off with a phone call to people like Newsom, Garcetti, Cuomo, de Blasio, Murphy and the rest of the lockdown cabal? That would go a long way to stopping small businesses, including bars and restaurants from going under. Oh, and maybe you could tell them to stop fining businesses out of existence for committing the sin of trying to provide for their families and their employee’s families.

Remember when Biden said he wanted to “unify” the country? Is this how he goes about unifying the country? Picking winners and losers?

On Biden’s twitter feed, he was slammed by users who claimed just that.

It’s going to be a long four years.
