WASHINGTON, D.C.- Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has flip flopped on his fracking stance multiple times during his bid for presidency. However, Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris made her opinion on the issue clear when she sued the Obama-Biden administration to end fracking in California.
While serving as California’s attorney general, Harris filed a joint lawsuit with the California Coastal Commission to challenge an environmental assessment that would allow for fracking off the states coast.
A 2016 press release by California’s attorney general’s office stated:
“Attorney General Kamala D. Harris and the California Coastal Commission today filed a lawsuit challenging the U.S. Department of the Interior’s final environmental assessment, which clears the way for hydraulic fracturing (fracking), acidizing, and other advanced well treatments on the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf off the coast of California.”

The statement then explained that the fossil fuel based activities, such as fracking, harm the environment and wildlife:
“In addition to extending our reliance on fossil fuels, research links these types of well stimulation treatments with increased water and air pollution, as well as the potential to harm marine life.”
The press release also included a statement by Harris who said:
“The U.S. Department of Interior’s inadequate environmental assessment would open the door to practices like fracking that may pose a threat to the health and well-being of California communities.”
The now Democratic Vice Presidential nominee also reinforced the impacts of fracking on the environment saying:
“We must balance our energy needs with our longstanding commitment to protecting our natural resources and public health.”
This lawsuit, which was filed in December of 2016, began suspiciously close to President Trump’s inauguration. Still, her actions within California indicate a broader stance that is applicable in the current presidential election.
Harris has also outright stated her desire to ban fracking if elected into office. During a town hall meeting in September of 2019 Harris responded to a question posed by a Western Pennsylvania resident who asked if Harris would ban fracking.
The Vice Presidential hopeful responded with:
“There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking.”

This is a stark contrast from Biden’s, still evolving, stance on fracking. The former Vice President has both indicated that he will and will not place a ban on fracking. In 2019 during a Democratic primary debate Biden was asked if there will be room for fossil fuels under his administration, to which Biden responded:
“No, we would — we would work it out. We would make sure it’s eliminated and no more subsidies for either one of those, either — any fossil fuel.”
The Democratic nominee also indicated that, under his administration, the U.S. would “transition from the oil industry.”
Additionally, Biden’s declaration is supported by the environmental plan listed on his website. Under “The Biden Plan For a Clean Energy Revolution and Environmental Justice” the campaign outlines its clear support for The Green New Deal, a plan that would end fracking.
The Biden-Harris campaign site states:
“Biden believes the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face.”

Although Biden has expressed clear support for banning fracking, he has also claimed that he will not place a ban on it. In a campaign speech delivered in late August of 2020 Biden proclaimed:
“I am not banning fracking. Let me say that again. I am not banning fracking. No matter how many times Donald Trump lies about me,”
If Biden and Harris are elected to office, it is still unclear what their energy policies would look like. However, it is known that a ban to fracking would cost the U.S. over 700,000 jobs. A 2015 study found that the fracking industry created 725,000 jobs in only seven years. Should the Democratic presidential hopefuls attempt to put an end to the industry, they would effectively demolish a large sector of the economy, and put millions of families at risk.

Kamala Harris appears to aim final appeal for election support…to illegal migrants
Las Vegas, NV – With less than 24 hours until election day, the Democratic challenger for vice president is making her final push.
However, she’s not aiming her appeal at voters. She is asking illegal migrants to help get her to the White House.
While campaigning along the U.S. Mexico border last week, California Senator Kamala Harris promised to reduce detention space for migrants.

According to Breitbart, she also asked an illegal immigrant activist to help Joe Biden win the presidency.
The media outlet reported that a child of illegal migrant parents and now activist, Astrid Silva, asked Harris:
“I’m undocumented. I can’t vote. What can we do during this election to help make sure that we get you elected?”
The vice presidential nominee reportedly responded:
“You can tell people who can vote what life is like for you now, and what life can be like.”

She continued on to say:
“We are committed to shutting down private detention centers and ending policies that have been about separating children from their parents at the border.”
Silva, who asked the question, runs the pro-amnesty group Dream Big Nevada.
The organization’s website reads:
“(Dream Big Nevada) was established in 2017 to provide aid to Nevada’s immigrant families through direct services and by empowering community members to advocate for themselves and others in similar situations.”

After the exchange between Harris and the non-profit leader, Breitbart reported that some have speculated that the want-to-be VP’s comments may be a coded message to illegal migrants and their supportive legal-immigrant relatives.
Among the speculation is the idea that Harris is trying to blur the difference between legal and illegal immigrants, and between illegal immigrants and American citizens.
She’s also told Silva:
“Define who you are, and you tell the world who you are. Don’t let anybody ever put you in a box because they have a limited perspective on who can do what and who can be one. We are all in this together. And so, chin up, shoulders back, right?
We speak our truth and know that there will always be people applauding and supporting that even if you can’t see them at that one moment, know that there are so many of us who are supporting your leadership and the power of your voice. It’s really important.”
Harris did not miss her chance to take a verbal shot at President Donald Trump too, saying:
“We’ve seen under the current president the kind of vitriol, the kind of hate, the vilification of immigrants in such a horrible way.”
She tweeted about the exchange this Sunday, saying:
“Last week in Nevada, I caught up with my friend @Astrid_NV, to discuss the Biden-Harris plan for immigration reform and how Dreamers can make a difference in this election. If you’re eligible to vote, show up at the ballot box for those who can’t: IWillVote.com.”

Both Harris and former Vice President Joe Biden have campaigned on the promise of shutting down private detention centers.
It is not the first time Harris has pushed for the borders to open.
Back in August, Law Enforcement Today reported on her stance on different political topics, including the migrant caravan that was, back in 2018, approaching the country’s southern border.
Harris said that Americans should be “welcoming” and “tolerant” of the crowd of 7,000 people.
In contrast, President Trump asked that U.S. laws be enforced at the border.
“To those in the Caravan, turnaround, we are not letting people into the United States illegally. Go back to your Country and if you want, apply for citizenship like millions of others are doing.”

Those concerned over Harris’ stance on illegal immigration say her proposed policies could cripple border patrol operations and force the agency to release detainees into the country before their asylum hearings.
