Hypocrisy? Biden takes hardline approach to European border mayhem while ignoring same problem at home

POLAND – The Biden administration is gearing up for new sanctions against Belarus in coordination with the EU as Poland threatens force to repel migrants massing at their border.

In stark contrast to current U.S. border policy, Polish forces defending against migrants massed at the border from Belarus into the European Union have warned that force may be used to defend the crossing.

Migrants, mostly from the Middle East and Asia, who are hoping to travel on from Poland deeper into Europe, have been gathering on the Belarusian side of the Kuznica border crossing. Authorities closed the crossing last week, with aerial footage showing large crowds congregating in the area.

Earlier today, Polish security forces fired water cannons at migrants who were throwing rocks toward guards on the Belarusian border, according to a report by Reuters.

This signals an increase in tactics being deployed at the border, which has witnessed thousands of migrants trying to cross into Poland and the EU. Poland’s Defense Ministry has claimed that large groups of migrants were escorted to the border by Belarusian forces in retaliation for sanctions against the country.

Poland and other EU members have accused Belarus of encouraging people to cross the Polish border in revenge for Western sanctions on Minsk over a disputed August 2020 election that gave longtime President Lukashenko a sixth term and sparked mass anti-government protests.

A spokesperson for Poland’s border guards claimed there had been “forced mass attempts to cross the border” in the Kuznica area by a group of people over the weekend, and that the situation was “very tense and very dangerous,” according to a report in CNN.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko denied playing any part in the border crisis, and said Belarus was doing everything possible to prevent people from accumulating at the border.

A Polish government spokesperson and the Ministry of Defense released a video showing escalating violence at the border, with migrants throwing rocks and Polish forces issuing warnings to the migrant mob, saying:

“Attention, attention, if you don’t follow orders, force will be used against you”

The video also showed migrants throwing bottles and wooden logs at soldiers. They also used sticks to try breaking through border fencing.

While the United States government is taking a lenient stand on its own porous, southern border with Mexico, the Biden administration is taking a hardline with the border crisis in Poland. The administration is gearing up for new sanctions against Belarus in coordination with the EU.

The sanctions planned are being aimed at the Lukashenki regime over the “inhumane facilitation” of the migrant crisis, which has left upwards of 4,000 people trapped in the area between the two countries as winter sets in.

Poland plans to begin building a wall along the border with Belarus starting next summer at an estimated cost of $407 Million (U.S. dollars). The wall, equipped with motion sensors and a monitoring system, will cover about half the length of Poland’s 400km (250 mile) border with Belarus.

President Biden joined other Democrats in lambasting former President Donald Trump for his efforts to build a wall along America’s southern border, where record numbers of illegal crossings have occurred since President Biden took office.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the Biden administration was calling on Russia to use its influence to push President Lukashenko to cease his “callous exploitation and coercion of vulnerable people.”

Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed solidarity with Poland:

“We are deeply concerned about the way the (Belarusian leader Alexander) Lukashenko regime is using vulnerable migrants as a hybrid tactic against other countries.

“We stand in solidarity with Poland and all the allies affected.”

Editor note: In 2020, we saw a nationwide push to “defund the police”.  While we all stood here shaking our heads wondering if these people were serious… they cut billions of dollars in funding for police officers.  And as a result, crime has skyrocketed – all while the same politicians who said “you don’t need guns, the government will protect you” continued their attacks on both our police officers and our Second Amendment rights.

And that’s exactly why we’re launching this national crowdfunding campaign as part of our efforts to help “re-fund the police”.

They’re coming: Video shows massive migrant caravan overwhelming Mexican forces enroute to U.S. border

October 24, 2021

MEXICO – In a shocking video shared on social media, more than 2,000 migrants in a migrant caravan surged past a blockade by Mexican forces attempting to stop them from traveling to the interior of Mexico and eventually getting to the U.S.-Mexico border.

The video shows Mexican National Guard members standing four men deep with riot shields attempting to repel the surge of migrants, but the massive crowd quickly overwhelmed them. The crowd can be heard shouting  “Libertad! Libertad! (Freedom! Freedom!)”

After the crowd broke through the ranks of Mexican forces, no National Guard members chased the migrants, and no weapons were deployed.

The caravan set off from Tapachula, Mexico carrying American flags and signs with President Joe Biden’s name. The migrants plan to enter the U.S. and seek entry and settlement emboldened by the Biden administration’s calls for leniency in immigration enforcement.

The President’s calls for leniency have been complicated by a disorganized and overwhelmed immigration system, and the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has struggled to control the wave of immigrants crossing into the United States this year.

Prior to the departure, caravan organizer Irineo Mujica criticized U.S. immigration policy in interviews shared on social media.

“They’re just in denial of their own fault. They haven’t been able to handle immigration,” he said. “If I tell you the truth, I believe at least with Donald Trump we knew what we had. With Biden, we don’t know. He doesn’t seem to have a clue what to do with immigration because he says one thing and does another.”

Another video posted to Twitter by Independent journalist Ali Bradley shows migrants walking with banners and using ropes to stay grouped together. She wrote:

“Thousands of migrants marching from Tapachula and are using a rope to stay together so “no one falls behind” as the caravan moves north.”

Many migrants reportedly told Bradley that they are leaving Central America for the U.S. to pursue “the American Dream,” similar to an earlier group that departed Tapachula in early September.

The group, made up of mostly Haitians, entered the U.S. in Del Rio, Texas and created a makeshift camp under the International Bridge until government officials finally intervened. Many of those migrants were either authorized to remain inside the U.S. or flown back to Haiti.

Mujica said that migrants have a perception of ineptitude in the Biden administration regarding its immigration policy:

“If I tell you the truth . . . at least with Donald Trump we knew what we had. With Biden, we don’t know. He doesn’t seem to have a clue what to do with immigration because he says one thing and does another.

“Tell me something different that Joe Biden has done? He promised immigration reform. He hasn’t done it.”

In a separate interview, Mujica said many migrants do not want to travel to the U.S., and that Mexico could have a lasting effect on the migrants if they would support them inefforts to remain in Mexico:

“What Mexico should do like every country is to make sure they do their share…Money is not going to solve the problem. Money thrown into governments like Mexico…they (migrants) should be given papers here, the opportunity to work here, because a lot of them don’t want to go to the U.S. Because Mexico, it’s a good place to live and to work.”

The caravan is expected to stop in Mexico City before moving on to the Mexico-U.S. border.

The caravan’s departure from Tapachula, a city in the south of Mexico bordering Guatemala, was not a surprise. Media have been reporting that at least 3,400 migrants who have petitioned the court for permission to travel through Mexico were planning to depart October 23 at 6 a.m., with or without authorization.

The Texas National Guard has been mobilizing in preparation for the arrival of the massive caravan, and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said, “Texas is securing the border.”

Gov. Abbott tweeted a photo of National Guard members preparing to defend the border earlier this month. He wrote:

“Texas National Guard is gearing up at the border for increased caravans attempting to cross the border caused by Biden’s open border policy.

“They are working with the Texas Dept. of Public Safety to seal surge locations at the border & arrest trespassers.”

In October, the Texas National Guard is doubling the number at the border by stationing approximately 2,500 troops.

Tracy Norris, the adjutant general of the Texas Military Department and commander of the Texas National Guard, said the Governor wants to stop illegal drugs, illegal immigration, and human trafficking at the border.

He said he never saw the border in such chaos:

“(I have) never seen the border like this. … One of our soldiers described it as like a Six Flags that in some places they’ll be lined up to come across.”
