Biden administration removes terror group that bombed World Trade Center from terror watch list

The following contains editorial content which is the opinion of the writer.

No words. That has to be what relatives of people killed in the World Trade Center bombing from 1993 must be thinking, after the Biden administration removed the group responsible for that terrorist attack from the terror watch list.

As a reminder, the Egyptian jihadist group Gamaat Islamiya bombed the World Trade Center in New York City and had plotted to also attack the Statue of Liberty and a number of other targets in the city.

Omar Abdel-Rahman, the so-called “Blind Sheikh” was the religious leader of the group and was subsequently arrested, according to Daniel Greenfield, writing for FrontPageMag.

During the original planned jihad in the Big Apple, an undercover informant told investigators of meetings to research potential targets, where a member of the jihadi cell told him:

“Stand here, brother, let me take your picture with the Statue of Liberty because it will not exist anymore” and “Brother, let me take your picture with the World Trade Center because it will not be here anymore.”

Those words proved prophetic eight years later when al Qaeda terrorists crashed two airliners into the towers of the New York City icon, which eventually brought them down.

After his arrest, Rathman said:

“The Jews and Christians are the ones that are fighting every Muslim resurrection. Oh, Muslims everywhere! Cut the transportation of their countries, tear it apart, destroy their economy, burn their companies, eliminate their interests, sink their ships, shoot down their planes, kill them on the sea, air, or land.”

Throughout the 90s, Gamaat Islamiya continued their reign of terror. For example, in 1997, they carried out a disgusting, sick attack in Luxor, Egypt, where they mutilated and disemboweled European and Japanese terrorists. Worse yet, the jihadists cut off the ears and noses of several of their victims, while a note praising Islam was found inside one disemboweled body. Pure evil. One of the victims was a five-year-old British girl, Shaunnah Turner.

That massacre was funded by al Qaeda, an ally of Gamaat Islamiya.

After the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., the group split into two distinct, but allied pathways, Greenfield wrote…al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood, both which had their origins in Egypt.

In 2006, some leaders of the terror cell announced they were merging with al Qaeda. However during the Obama presidency, the Muslim Brother hood forced out Egyptian Prime Minister Hasni Mubarak, who had been one of Gamaat Islamiya’s targets, while the Blind Sheik’s terrorist group joined the Muslim Brotherhood and reinvented itself as a political party.

Meanwhile, in 2011 Gamaat Islamiya relaunched itself as the Building and Development Party and was actually welcomed by the Obama administration, Greenfield wrote. Despite being still listed on the terror watch list, one of its members, Hani Nour Eldin was able to secure a visa to enter the United States. Worse yet, he was invited to meet with senior officials of the Obama administration, including then-National Security Adviser Denis McDonough.

At the time, Eldin complained about the treatment the Blind Sheikh endured in the United States.

“Abdel Rahman’s ordeal in America has been very severe,” he said. “I was encouraged that I was able to raise the issue with the Deputy National Security Advisor in America.”

Moreover, not only did the Obama administration welcome members of Gamaat Islamiya into the United States, they actually considered releasing Rahman. Fortunately, he died before that was accomplished, but the fact it was being considered is eye opening.

In equally bizarre fashion, the United States permitted his body to be sent back to Egypt, where he got a hero’s funeral.

“Don’t let the Americans enjoy safety and security. Kill them, keep a watch on them, and plant the fear in their hearts. Seek vengeance for your sheikh,” al Qaeda said.

In giving a reason for removing the terrorist group from the watch list, the Biden administration claims that the group is allegedly “defunct.” However, the group is not, in fact, defunct and has merely turned into an Islamist political party which is apparently favored by the Obama administration (face it, they’re still running the show) to run Egypt in conjunction with the Muslim Brotherhood, Greenfield surmises.

He notes that the Building and Development Party has “never disavowed its own atrocities” while continuing to hold the Blind Sheikh as something of a role model. That party was banned by the Egyptian government due to its involvement in terrorist activity following the overthrow of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Greenfield reminds us that the State Department’s most recent human rights report on Egypt slams the ban on the Islamist extremist party. Since the group was previously listed as a terror group by the United States, Egypt had a ready argument. However now that the group has been removed from the list, that argument no longer exists.

Bowing to the Biden administration, Egypt’s president has called for “a national political dialogue with all forces without exception or discrimination.” Meanwhile, the Middle Eastern country has been freeing members of the Muslim Brotherhood who have been imprisoned, all despite the fact that courts inside Egypt continue to sentence other members of the Muslim Brotherhood to death for their part in the violence.

In defending the decision to delist the terrorist organization from the watch list, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “the circumstances that were the basis for the designation…have changed in such a manner to warrant revocation of the designation.” Once again, the Biden administration risking our national security for purely political reasons, Greenfield wrote.

Despite Blinken’s obliviousness, the true believers within the organization defend the terrorist attacks committed by al Qaeda, Gamaat Islamiya and other organizations.

“The whole al Qaeda issue has been blown out of proportion internationally. Do the mistakes made by al Qaeda over the past 12 or 15 years equal one-billionth of the mistakes and crimes perpetrated by the US and Britain against the Arab and Islamic nation?” Tarek al-Zuma, a terrorist leader hiding out in Qatar said.

“Bin Laden will become a symbol of resistance to occupation” Al-Zumar ranted. “The U.S. killing of bin Laden will undoubtedly galvanize reaction and retaliation attempts.”

The removal of Gamaat Islamiya, which has longstanding ties to al Qaeda and now ISIS, from the terror watch list is an insult to those who died in the World Trade Center bombing in 1993. Greenfield believes the Obama, er Biden administration is looking for another so-called “Arab Spring” in Egypt, because the last one worked out “so well.”

The Biden administration has betrayed the seven Americans killed at the Trade Center, among them John DiGiovanni, a sales manager who committed the “sin” of trying to park his car when the bomb went off. Or perhaps Stephen Knapp, a father of two who was taking his lunch break. Or how about Monica Rodriguez Smith, seven months pregnant and on her last day working before going out on maternity leave.

Why does the Biden administration love terrorists and appear to hate Americans? We would love the answer to that.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- According to reports, the Biden administration has authorized the release of five more detainees from Guantanamo Bay, including an al Qaeda “associate” and suspect with links to a 2002 Kenyan car bombing.

As the prison marks 20 years in operation, a U.S. government review panel met and authorized the release of five men who have been detained at Guantanamo Bay. Three of the prisoners are Yemenis, one is Somalian, and one is Kenyan.

Approved for transfer are Yemenis Moath al-Alwi, Zuhail al-Sharabi, and Omar al-Rammah, Kenyan Mohammed Abdul Malik Bajabu and Guled Hassan Duran of Somalia. All men are reportedly in their 40s.

Bajabu, is an Islamic terrorist who allegedly “participated in the planning and execution of the terrorist attacks” from Guantanamo Bay.

He was arrested in 2007 for a suspected role in the 2002 car bombing in his homeland that killed 13 people at the Israeli-owned Paradise Hotel.

According to Bajabu’s lawyer, he is a peace-loving man who can “quote Mohandas Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King like teenagers quote Taylor Swift.”

A Guantanamo Bay threat assessment noted that Bajabu “admitted that he participated in the planning and execution of the terrorist attacks in Mombasa, which including the bombing-of the Israeli-owned Kikambala Paradise Hotel and a missile attack on an Israeli airliner.”

Bajabu was also allegedly “involved in a plot to attack the Kenyan Anti-Terrorism Headquarters located in Nairobi and the Mombasa Marathon, with the intent of killing Americans and Israelis.”

Alwi was considered by the panel to be a “low-level” trainee with no leadership role in al-Qaeda or the Taliban. Duran was captured in 2004 on alleged involvement with al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

None of the men approved for release, including Mohammed, have been charged with a crime. They have been held as prisoners of the war on terrorism.

Reportedly, half the prison’s 39 detainees have been approved for transfer so far. Twelve have been charged with war crimes and two have been convicted.

Among those still awaiting trial is alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Pre-trial hearings were originally scheduled for the week of January 10th, but were again put off due to COVID-19 concerns.

While on the campaign trail, President Joe Biden made it clear that he wanted to shut down Guantanamo Bay, but just weeks ago approved millions in upgrades to the facility.

A new “secret” courtroom at Guantanamo should cost taxpayers about $4 million.

President Barrack Obama also tried to close Guantanamo Bay, but ran up against opposition in Congress where lawmakers passed a law that prohibited any detainees held on the island off Cuba to be transferred to the U.S. mainland.

Reportedly, nearly 770 men and boys have been held at Guantanamo Bay as war prisoners, with the prison population peaking at 677 in 2003.

The Bush administration, which opened the prison after 9/11, released 540 detainees, mostly sending them back to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia.

The Obama administration released another 200 and President Donald trump placed an effective hold on releases while in office.

In August 2021, it was revealed that 229 “rehabbed” former Guantanamo Bay detainees had returned to terrorism and killing Americans with an alarming 66 percent of them having not been recaptured.

Even with that news, Biden was still quietly freeing more and more terrorist suspects from the prison.

Some have American blood on their hands with at least 12 released detainees having launched attacks on U.S. forces in Afghanistan and killed about a half-dozen American soldiers and civilians.

Funding terrorists? Biden administration reportedly wants to release money to the Taliban

December 26th, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC – Recent news reports from Khaama Press, an Afghanistan News Agency, reported that the Biden Administration was considering unfreezing Afghanistan’s financial assets so that they could be accessed by the known terrorist group that overtook the country, the Taliban.

Afghanistan had its assets frozen by the United States when it became clear that the country would fall. The reason was to prevent the Taliban from ever getting access to those funds and potentially funding more terrorist activities.

However, that could all change if a report published by the Khaama Press is at all accurate.

On December 21st, the media group published a report that they had allegedly learned from the BBC that an unnamed United States official reported the Biden Administration is prepared to release at least a portion of the frozen assets.

According to the Khaama Press:

“The [BBC] source has said that the US administration has held a meeting in which easing sanctions on Afghanistan has been discussed in order to allow international aid organizations to deliver humanitarian aids to Afghanistan.”

They note that the news of this supposed release of financial aid comes at the heels of an OIC session on Afghanistan that had ended in Islamabad where it was decided that humanitarian aids would be sent to the country immediately to “prevent the economic collapse of the country.”

They note that the news came as the US Special Representative to Afghanistan, Thomas West, allegedly met in private with the Taliban’s foreign minister, Amir Khan Motaq, a report that cannot be confirmed.

While this news cannot be independently verified in any manner, it is interesting to note that the State Department spokesman, Ned Price, spoke to reporters about the terrorist country on December 20th. Price said:

“When it comes to humanitarian assistance, the United States is the global leader…We have provided, since August, $208 million alone, we provided nearly $475 million over the course of this year.

We have taken other steps as a government to do what we can to facilitate the provision of additional humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.

“We are working with various UN bodies, including the UNDP, to find creative ways that we can infuse not only humanitarian aid but also liquidity into the Afghan economy…Thomas West was recently in Pakistan, where he attended a meeting of the OIC.

And the OIC recently announced in the context of that meeting the establishment of a trust fund, which will provide another important tool to provide money to the people of Afghanistan.”

While providing humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan that are subjected to the violent and bloody rule of the terrorist organization, the Taliban, seems noble… how is it that the United States and other countries plan on ensuring the people, not the terrorists, receive the money?

An even better question would be how does any country that provides financial assistance to the terrorist organization ensure that those funds are not used to fund terrorist activities?

Of course, the questions are rhetorical in nature as they most likely will never be asked by political leaders of any country. However, that has not stopped progressives and Democrats from calling on the Biden Administration to release the funds.

Democratic leaders, Pramila Jayapal, Jamaal Bowman, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Cori Bush authored a letter to Democratic President Joe Biden urging for the release of funds to the terrorist organization.

The letter states in part:

“As you transition into a new phase of our relationship with the country and people of Afghanistan, we stand with American allies and humanitarian experts in urging the United States to avoid harsh economic measures that will directly harm Afghan families and children.

This means conscientiously but urgently modifying current U.S. policy regarding the freeze of Afghanistan’s foreign reserves and ongoing sanctions.”

Report: Afghan refugees under Biden get free food, housing, $2275, but questionable vetting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Under the Biden administration, thousands of Afghans transported to the United States are receiving free food, housing, and $2,275 in federal aid, along with questionable vetting.

According to the Washington Post, as Afghan refugee families are moved from temporary housing and care on military bases to cities throughout the United States, resettlement agencies are struggling to keep up with the volume of families waiting for permanent housing and additional aid.

KTRH NewsRadio reports that the White House has provided a “loose” estimate of 95,000 Afghans total coming into the United States.

The Washington Post notes:

“Federal officials say they are working to spread the evacuees to different parts of the country as they begin to shut down the temporary housing camps at seven military bases that are still home to 34,000 Afghans.

“The process is expected to be completed by mid-February.”

In some areas of the country, Oklahoma for instance, resettled refugees are being offered “free housing” to relocate there.

The Post adds:

“The evacuees are each entitled to receive $2,275 in federal support that is meant to cover housing costs, job training and other expenses over a three-month period once they are matched with a resettlement agency.”

Funding for such expenses is covered nationally by massive dollar amounts earmarked for Afghan refugees.

As we previously reported, Congress has now authorized a total of $13.3 billion for the Biden administration to settle Afghans in the United States.

Other areas of the country are working on additional local funding for Afghan refugees.

For example, according to Breitbart, New York taxpayers will be covering at least $5 million in relocation expenses, after Governor Kathy Hochul (D) earmarked an additional $2 million for that purpose.

Also for example, in Oregon, Yahoo News reports that SB5561, passed on December 13, 2021, will “support Afghan individuals and families with housing, education, legal aid, job training and culturally-specific support as they settle in the state.”

The news outlet goes on to note:

“Of that $18 million, $5.25 million has been earmarked for short-term food and shelter, $2.9 million will support case management services, $5.9 million will be for rental assistance and $2.89 million is for immigration and legal services.

“An additional $807,600 will be available for culturally specific assistance and interpretation classes.”

These costly efforts are not without criticism, especially given the question of vetting, or possible lack thereof, of these Afghan refugees.

According to Breitbart, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing that “not all” of the thousands of Afghan refugees entering the country have been interviewed by federal law enforcement, even though that is “standard vetting protocol.”

Ira Mehlman, spokesperson for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, recently told KTRH NewsRadio:

“We need to be concerned about the fact we really don’t know who is has gotten out of Afghanistan. And at the same time, we need to be doubly concerned about the growing humanitarian crisis in that country.”

He added:

“We have no idea for the most part who those people are.”

Mehlman continued:

”Most of them no doubt are just decent people who understandably wanted to get out of there. But as we’ve learned at a very high cost, it only takes a few people to cause an awful lot of trouble.”

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton echoed these sentiments.

Noting that the “federal government has not shared its vetting procedures with Texas,” Paxton told Alex Marlow:

“We don’t have any confidence in the Biden administration [to vet Afghan migrants].”

He continued:

“When you look at the border and how they’re just inviting people to come across … obviously the cartels are involved in every transaction, because you have to pay them to get across the border….

“We’ve got the Biden administration helping the cartels, helping them import drugs, helping them import COVID into our state, helping them import sex trafficking and other human trafficking…. and yet here we are with the Afghan refugees.”

Paxton went on to say:

“I don’t know that we’ll vet [Afghan refugees] at all. I think it’ll just be whatever the federal government says they’ve done. We won’t really know if it’s true.

“We won’t even know if they’ve done anything, and so, they’ll be dropped wherever the federal government wants to drop them, and they’ll disappear into our society.

“We’ll never know, until something bad happens, if we have a terrorist.”
