Please meet our newest HERO, 11-month-old Mila Thorn. her dad Jake is a SWAT officer for Texas DPS stationed in Austin. On 8/12/2023, Mila was admitted to Dell Children’s Oncology facility in Austin, TX with a malignant tumor on her right kidney.

On 8/14/2023 the tumor and her right kidney were removed. The tumor was determined to be a Stage 2 Wilms Tumor that had spread to the veins leaving the kidney. This requires a 19-week chemotherapy treatment that will begin on 8/28/2023.

The DPS Troopers Foundation is raising money to assist Mila and the Thorn family with expenses during her treatment. DPSTF is a 501(c)(3) foundation and contributions made are tax deductible.

100% of your contribution goes to the family. Help-a-Hero charges you a small fee up front when you donate to keep costs down and allow the family to receive all the funds.

It's impossible to imagine what it feels like to have to watch your child go through that type of treatment, especially at such a young age. Jake has served his community selflessly for so long, now we have a chance to help him in return.

If you are able, please consider donating. Please keep Mila and the Thorn family in your prayers.
