Atty. General William Barr believes Durham is building a case for prosecution in collusion hoax

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Are the wheels about to come off of the deep state’s attempt to take out a duly elected president in Donald Trump? It is beginning to look that way.

Law Enforcement Today has learned from Breitbart News that Attorney General William Barr seems to think we are headed in that direction.

Last Thursday on Fox News’ Laura Ingraham program, Barr seemed to hint that United States Attorney John Durham’s investigation is leading toward the possibility that people will be facing prosecution as a result of his probe.

“He is looking to bring to justice people who are engaged in abuses if he can show that they were criminal violations, and that’s what the focus is on,” Barr told Ingraham. “He’s diligently pursuing it.”

Americans who care about the rule of law and who saw the whole Russia collusion hoax for what it was have been awaiting the outcome of Durham’s investigation since it began.

Of course, this comes out of the bungled FBI investigation into a phony dossier that was developed by former British spy Christopher Steele, which was funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Over the weekend, Law Enforcement Today reported that FBI investigators were aware that Steele’s dossier was based on a “Russian disinformation campaign” and that footnotes which were recently declassified proved it.

Also, Inspector General Michael Horowitz had noted in December that the FBI applications for FISA warrants contained “17 significant inaccuracies and omissions.”

Durham was appointed by Barr last year to investigate how the Obama administration came to investigate the Trump campaign in the run-up to the November 2016 election, as well as activities leading up to President Trump’s inauguration in January, 2017. The investigation was upped to a criminal probe last fall.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Durham has relocated to Washington, D.C., from Connecticut in order to continue his probe amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Barr noted that he would like to get the investigation done sooner than later, especially with the election coming up in the fall. As former U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy told WMAL over the weekend, anything done too close to election day would be viewed suspiciously as being politically motivated, and it is a definite that the administration would prefer to avoid that narrative.

“The closer we get to Election Day, the more any charges he brought would be framed by the media as kind of a Trump campaign stunt,” McCarthy said.

“So I really think it’s in his interest, especially after pouring two years of effort into this, to get with it by the late spring at the latest, because we all know if the president doesn’t win reelection, this investigation is going down the memory hole,” he said.

“We’re getting to the point where a decision has to be made, one way of the other,” McCarthy stated.

The focus of Durham’s probe appears to be the role of officials from the intelligence community in the investigation into the Trump campaign; Durham’s team reportedly targeted CIA officials in interviews earlier this year.

In addition, they are also looking into former CIA Director John Brennan, who has become a major antagonist of President Trump in his new role as a “media analyst” with NBC and MSNBC.

Brennan’s investigators are looking at whether or not Brennan had pushed for what is referred to as an “intelligence community assessment” (ICA) that would be more damaging to Trump.

In particular, Durham’s investigators are zeroing in on whether Brennan “pushed for the ICA to include that Russia had interfered to help Trump, when not all intelligence agencies concurred with the same degree of confidence,” Breitbart said.

Breitbart noted that while the CIA and FBI had “high confidence” the interference was aimed at helping the president, while the National Security Agency (NSA) had only “moderate” confidence.

Durham has already met with the former head of NSA, Ret. Admiral Mike Rogers. Breitbart also notes that Durham’s team has been looking closely at current and former National Intelligence Council officials.

The NCI is a unit of the Director of National Intelligence’s office charged with coordinating the ICA.

In addition, Durham’s team is looking at the ICA’s reliance on the debunked Steele dossier, and slosh whether or not former FBI Director James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe insisted on the inclusion of the dossier as part of the assessment’s appendix, the Washington Examiner reported.

Durham’s team is also seeking to interview Christopher Steele, although an initial request to do so was denied by British authorities, according to the Wall Street Journal. It is currently unknown if Durham will try again through more formal channels, which would take longer to be approved.

In addition, Durham’s investigators contacted Sir Andrew Wood, who is the former British ambassador to Russia and who told the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in fall, 2016 about the existence of the Steele dossier at the Halifax Security Form in Nova Scotia, and who arranged to have it sent to his colleague, David Kramer.

Investigative journalist John Solomon recently stated in an interview that Durham’s team has issued numerous grand jury subpoenas.

Barr was unclear about his knowledge of the intimate details of the investigation, however he seemed confident that wrongdoing would be uncovered. He also said that while Durham was focusing on prosecution in his investigation, a report will also be forthcoming as a result of it.

“My own view is that the evidence shows that we’re not dealing with just mistakes or sloppiness,” he said. He then added:

I think what happened to him was one of the greatest travesties in American history. Without any basis, they started this investigation of his campaign, and even more concerning, actually is what happened after the campaign, a whole pattern of events while he was president. So I—to sabotage the presidency, and I think that—or at least have the effect of sabotaging the presidency.

Of course, liberals are all up in arms over Barr’s interview, and have been attacking him ever since. Some left-wing group called “Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington facilitated a petition the same day the interview aired calling for Barr to resign.
