WASHINGTON DC – It is one week until election day. As of now, there is no new COVID-19 stimulus plan coming out of Washington DC. The country is weathering a pandemic.
But, not to worry: U.S. Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) are hard at work playing video games.
The two far left leaning congresswomen set streaming records on Twitch with more than 435,000 people watching them play “Among Us.”
USA Today reported that the game was part of a voting outreach effort largely targeted to millennials and Gen Z-er’s on the gaming platform.
To spur voters to the polls, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Ilhan Omar played the video game Among Us on the livestreaming platform Twitch. At the peak, more than 400,000 people tuned in, making it one of the service’s most-watched streams. https://t.co/0SBE6JivwB

The supposed get-the-vote-out event last week involved “uber-popular” streamers Pokimane and Hasan Piker. Piker is a former employee of the left-leaning news site and commentary group the Young Turks.
As The Blaze reported, he’s perhaps better known as the activist vlogger who said last year:
“America deserved 9/11.”
The highly controversial statement came during a video attack on U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw. In it, the Young Turks criticized the Texas Republican who lost his right eye while serving in Iraq in 2012.
In full, The Blaze reported that Piker said:
“America deserved 9/11, dude. F**k it, I’m saying it.”
— Jack Brewster (@jbruce218) October 21, 2020
Later on, he rapidly tried to walk back his statement. With backlash hitting both Piker and the Young Turks, he said:
“I didn’t say Americans deserved 9/11. I said America deserves 9/11.”
He reportedly called his own word choice “inappropriate” and poorly executed “satire.”
His bosses had even more to say about it. Cenk Uyger of the Young Turks called his statement “incredibly crass” and “wrong.”
That’s when Piker decided to try to the blame game instead:
“Maybe you can chalk it up to English being my second language or whatever you want to chalk it up to.”
Twitch even went so far as to suspend Piker for his comments in 2019.
What is unclear now, after the headline grabbing screw-up, is why two U.S. lawmakers would align with the controversial figure for the recent get-out-the-vote event.
Neither acknowledged how they connected with the event, beyond Ocasio-Cortez mentioning at the beginning of the stream that Piker “wrangled” the group together at the last minute.
Her Minnesotan counterpart directly addressed voters as the game began. According to various media outlets, including USA Today, Omar said:
“If you are able to vote, we are here. Make sure you have your voting plan. If you can’t vote, if you’re under the age of 18, if you don’t live in the United States or any other reason for not being able to vote, make sure you talk to someone that can vote and try to get them direct them to IWillVote.com and make sure that they get their voting plan in place.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitch debut stream has broken records as one of the most viewed on the site ever.
She reportedly beat the record set in 2018 by rappers Drake and Travis Scott who played the game “Fortnite” with well-known gamer Ninja.
The site is known as a platform that draws young audiences.
USA Today said that in a now deleted 2017 report from the streaming platform, which is mostly oriented toward gamers who livestream themselves playing, Twitch said that nearly 55% of its audience was between the ages of 18 and 34.
One of the two lawmakers falls within that demographic: Ocasio-Cortez is 31. Omar is 38.
The two women refer to themselves as a “squad” along with other young, female lawmakers.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez shared an article from Teen Vogue featuring her squadmate Omar. She captioned the post:
“[email protected] opens up about surviving Congress with the help of her #Squad (@AOC, @RashidaTlaib + @AyannaPressley): “It is a spectacle. It is insane. But our sisterhood and friendship is real.”

She does not appear to have yet tweeted about her connection to Piker and his 9/11 comments.

Here’s a look back from Law Enforcement Today on the “squad” in DC:
Presidential candidate and her girl AOC want CBP and ICE eliminated from America
July 4, 2019
She wants to be your president. She also wants to eliminate Custom and Border Protection (CBP).
We’re talking about Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota.
On Wednesday, she called for the elimination of Custom and Border Protection.
She made her comments on the Black Entertainment Television (BET) series called “Black Coffee”, grouping CBP with other “rogue agencies” lacking in accountability and transparency.
“We know that they have spoken in the most vile ways about immigrants. We know that they have certain views of what brown and black people deserve,” Omar explained. “And so we should be having a conversation about eliminating their existence [and] reforming the agencies that deal with the most vulnerable, who are children and women.”
She called for Congress to eliminate border patrol agencies.
She added, “We are continuing to allow for them to terrorize people who are running away from the most horrific circumstances, and that’s… inhumane and that can’t sit well with the American values we have … about dignity and humanity.”
She’s also previously called for the elimination of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and has also backed Ocasio-Cortez’s claim that the U.S. is essentially “running concentration camps” along the southern border.
Speaking of AOC, apparently staging a dramatic photo of herself cringing at the sight of an empty parking lot and claiming it was a view of migrant children being locked in cages, was not enough. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is at it again.
The Congresswoman was just one of several Democratic legislators visiting a Customs and Border Protection facility in Texas on Monday.
She claimed that CBP agents are forcing migrants to drink out of toilets and live under other extreme conditions, all while the officers sit back and laugh.
“I see why CBP officers were being so physically &sexually threatening towards me,” the congresswoman tweeted. “Officers were keeping women in cells with no water & had told them to drink out of the toilets,” she said. “This was them on their GOOD behavior in front of members of Congress.”
Now I’ve seen the inside of these facilities.
It’s not just the kids. It’s everyone. People drinking out of toilets, officers laughing in front of members Congress.
I brought it up to their superiors. They said “officers are under stress & act out sometimes.” No accountability.

“Now I’ve seen the inside of these facilities,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.“It’s not just the kids. It’s everyone. People drinking out of toilets, officers laughing in front of members Congress.” She added, “I brought it up to their superiors. They said, ‘officers are under stress & act out sometimes.’ No accountability.”
But there’s one big problem.
According to The Washington Examiner’s Anna Giaritelli, the freshman Democrat didn’t actually tour the facility.
In fact, according to the report, she apparently refused to and instead chose to scream at federal law enforcement officers “in a threatening manner” Monday while visiting the U.S.-Mexico border.
It is interesting that she would use the concept of accountability. AOC was visiting, in spite of CBP agents making what she called “threats to her life on social media.”
She said a “secret Facebook group” of 9,500 officers discussed making a GoFundMe to harm her and the other Dems during their visit. “This isn’t about ’a few bad eggs,’” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted early Monday afternoon. “This is a violent culture.”
And to these CBP officers saying they felt “threatened” by me –
They were literally discussing making a GoFundMe for an officer who attacked my on my tour.
They confiscated my phone, and they were all armed. I’m 5’4”.
They’re just upset I exposed their inhumane behavior.

The Congresswoman made multiple accusations of criminal wrongdoing against CBP agents on Monday. As always, no one is above the law, and if officers and agents are guilty of the things she claims, they must be held accountable.
However, law enforcement officers, at the state, local and federal levels are consummate professionals. It would be difficult to believe that they are guilty of the things she claims.
Who would act so brazenly in front of a Congressional delegation? Certainly not professional officers.
Like the officers being held accountable, if guilty of wrongdoing, so to should the Congresswoman if she cannot substantiate these claims.
These accusations are far-fetched at best — defamatory at worst. All this coming from the same person who compared the migrant detention facilities to German concentration camps.
She faced a tremendous amount of backlash for that statement, but somehow doubled down it when she challenged “Republican Holocaust Experts” to prove her wrong. More recently, she is backtracking and saying that she wasn’t referring to the concentration camps run by the Nazis in World War II.
She also famously posted a video on her social media, asking her followers to help her figure out the sound coming out of her kitchen sink. As it turns out, it was the garbage disposal.
Ocasio-Cortez, as well as several other Democrats, are using this as an opportunity to blame the current conditions at the border on President Trump and his administration. Never mind the fact that this administration has been working tirelessly to fix a broken immigration system. Never mind the fact that it these same people who are voting not to provide the funding necessary to make improvements at these facilities.
While Ocasio-Cortez was saying, “It is hard to understate the enormity of the problem,” she wrote. “We’re talking systemic cruelty w/ a dehumanizing culture that treats them like animals,” Trump said in an interview, defending conditions at migrant detention facilities during his tenure, “No, the conditions are much better than they were under President Obama.”
A CBP official denied the toilet accusations on Monday, insisting that the locations Ocasio-Cortez visited have standard-issue jail-type appliances with sinks that dispense safe drinking water attached to toilets in a single unit.
“‘No one is drinking toilet water,” the official said. “They’re drinking potable water from the sink attached to the toilet.” It’s what you would find in every municipal jail in the United States.”
No doubt the conditions at these facilities are hard. They were never designed to accommodate the numbers that are currently housed. Also undoubtedly, the officer, agents and administrators charged with the safety and well-being of the people residing there, take their responsibilities very seriously and act professionally and compassionately.
Lost in all of this: U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials confirmed they deployed “port hardening measures” just before 2 a.m. Monday at the Paso Del Norte bridge in order to control a “large and unruly group” that formed on the Mexican side of the crossing and “posed a threat to overrun the facility,” according to KTSM.
A witness who spoke with KTSM at the scene said he estimated a group of approximately 300 migrants attempted to cross the bridge, chanting, “vamos a cruzar,” Spanish for, “We’re going to cross.”
The man said he became fearful for his family once he saw the immediate deployment of CBP officers and Border Patrol agents, and the man attempted to quickly get them into El Paso before CBP closed all lanes of traffic.
KTSM’s Juarez correspondent confirmed the group consisted of about 250 Cuban and El Salvadoran migrants who had been gathered at the port since about midnight.
Traffic cameras from the scene showed barriers and concertina wire blocking all lanes of traffic. El Paso Police confirmed to KTSM they were notified by CBP of a protest on the bridge that was affecting traffic.
A news release from CBP states that multiple agencies responded to the overnight event, including CBP Mobile Field Force and Special Response Team members were deployed to the facility. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, U.S. Border Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Protective Services, and the El Paso Police Department.
Luckily, these groups of professionals did their jobs and were able to reopen the bridge without the crowd being able to overrun the border and disappear into the US. But of course, AOC and her delegation of photo opportunists would never had praised these efforts, but they would have certainly taken the time address the matter if the bridge had been over run. It’s all about the narrative.
Reflections of a Director
Louis Gregory is a former Director with our Nation’s Largest Law Enforcement Agency.
He recently connected with John Cardillo, who works with NewsMax.
“John Cardillo was a Police Officer with the NYPD,” he said.
And that’s where the conversation about AOC began.
“There are so many parallels between us. We were both lawmen. We both had lived in Queens, NY and we both endeavored to protect the American way of life. We share a passion for conveying facts with the public. When I say conveying facts, I also mean curtailing the mass spread of lies being spewed by the misinformed and dishonest. My misinformed and dishonest, I mean AOC and her accusations of the men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).”
He said that as a former director with our nation’s largest law enforcement agency, Cardillo decided to invite him on to NewsMax TV, where the media company discusses “real news for real people”.
The two sat down to discussed CBP and the recent accusations made by AOC with regard to detention practices.
Here are his words.
