Another civil rights leader endorses President Trump: ‘A President who believes in giving a hand-up, not a hand-out’

WASHINGTON, DC – If you listened solely to what Democratic leaders and the media say, there is no way that President Donald Trump will garner any votes from black Americans.

The problem with that statement is currently more and more black Americans are coming out in support of him, including civil rights leaders like Reverend William Owens, who just publicly endorsed the President.

Owens, the founder of the Coalition of African American Pastors, issued a press statement in which he spoke of the importance of this coming election for everyone.  Owens said that he feels the President has established a positive record on issues that are considered important to black Americans.

In the press release, he said:

“President Trump did something that few other politicians do.  He sought out the opinion of a variety of African American leaders and he listened to what we had to say.

“Then he supported policies and programs that have real potential to help black families.”

Owens talked about how President Trump has “increased funding for historically black colleges and reduced black unemployment.”

In addition, he stated:

“What’s more, his new Platinum plan looks to invest millions in black businesses and communities.  This is a President who believes in giving a hand-up, not a hand-out in order to help our community thrive.

“While Mr. Biden and the Democrats continue to take the black vote for granted, offering nothing more than empty promises and more government dependency, President Trump is offering hope and a real plan to help African Americans.

“Four years ago, President Trump asked us to give him a chance and we gave him one.  What he did with that chance shows that he deserves another four years in office.

“This year, President Trump has my vote.”

Reverend Owens is far from the only black American to endorse Trump, or his new Platinum plan.  Recently, rapper Lil Wayne met with the President and gave him an endorsement, at least for the plan.

The rapper tweeted:

“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far for criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership.  He listened to what we had to say and assured he will and can get it done.”

The endorsement from Lil Wayne for the plan came shortly after the President’s positive meeting with fellow rapper and actor, Ice Cube.  Although neither has come out to fully endorse President Trump, their positive comments about his plan certainly gives that appearance.

On the other hand, fellow rapper Lil Pump came outright with a public endorsement of President Trump.  In a video he gave his response to current Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden’s tax increase proposal.

In the video, he said:

“All I got to say is Trump 2020 bitch.  [Expletive] I look like paying a extra 33 in tax for Biden, bitch ass [expletive].  [Expletive] sleepy Joe…Trump 2020 bitch.”

The President’s plan is designed to help the black community through initiatives like expanding school choice and improving economic opportunities.  In addition, he named the Ku Klux Klan and Antifa as terrorist organizations and proclaimed Juneteenth will be a federal holiday.

While speaking about the plan and his thoughts on his support from the black community, the President said:

“Over the last 50 years black Americans have mostly voted democrat, but every day more black Americans are deciding that the old way is not working.”

Whether or not any of these moves will be enough to bring the President over the finish line at the general election remains to be seen.  However, it is fair to say that there has not been this much public support from the black community for a Republican President before.

Civil rights attorney, lifelong Democrat: President Trump has done more for blacks than Obama

October 3, 2020

ATLANTA, GA – Leo Terrell, a lifelong democrat and a civil rights attorney believes that President Trump has done more for the black community since he has been in office than former President Barack Obama did in his two terms.

Terrell spoke at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference in Atlanta on October 1st

Terrell, who has made every know that he intends to vote for a Republican for the first time in his life, claimed that President Donald Trump has done far more for people of color in his first three years in office, more so than Obama and current Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden.

At the conference, Terrell said:

“They [democrats] are simply involved in trying to obtain power.  I reject that.  I have been a civil rights attorney for 30 years.  What makes this country great is that this country gives you an opportunity, equality and an opportunity to be who you want to be.

“I put the country first.  I want to apologize because it took me a little bit too long to get to the right side.”

Terrell has spent his life fighting for social justice and racial equality, both as a civil rights attorney and as a radio host.

Terrell believes that there should be good relationships between local communities and law enforcement.  He also believes that the democratic party does not support this and has left him behind.

In speaking specifically how he believes they have left him behind and his new found support for the President, he said that democrats are lying when they challenge his policies.

Terrell said that democrats should not “challenge the fairness, the programs, the policies of Donald J Trump…

“Let me tell the Democrats…what Donald J Trump has done for everyone, especially people of color…The lowest unemployment rate ever – Donald J Trump.  Funding historic black colleges.  Donald J Trump [enacted] the FIRST Step Act.  Why is that important?  Because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris put people of color in jail.  Donald Trump is giving people a second opportunity.”

Terrell was not finished; he went on to address people who believe that they should only vote for democrats because they are more fair and treat people more equally than Republicans.  He said:

“The party that provides equality, fairness, personal liberty is the Republican Party.”

He believes that the people who believe that the Republican party does not do enough for black people have drunk the democratic “Kool-Aid.”  Terrell said:

“President Trump has done more for African-Americans in three-and-a-half years that the Obama-Biden administration in eight years.  It is a fact.  It has nothing to do with color.”

As if this lifelong democrat had not said enough to totally alienate himself from his party, he continued, now, by attacking the myth that is systemic racism.

Terrell said:

“How can you have systemic discrimination in cities run by people of color?  That is when the whole system is racist.  Chicago?  Atlanta?  They are run by democrats.”

Terrell then doubled down on his support for the President and his anger for the democratic party.  He said:

“They [democrats] don’t want you to think.  They want you to get angry.  I won’t play that game anymore.  This country is too important.  This country is at a crossroads.”

After his speech was done, Terrell then requested to formally join President Trump’s reelection efforts.  He tweeted:

“Mr. President, Please put me on the campaign trail on your behalf immediately.  I would love to speak at your massive Trump rallies.  There are millions of Trump’s supporters waiting for marching orders.  I am one of them!  @realDonaldTrump @seanhannity @FoxNews @newsmax.”
