MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Another atrocity streamed on Facebook Live. We have been desensitized and our culture has entered an era when atrocities are not only part of the daily news, we can view them live on social media. And if bad news is considered good marketing, then Facebook Live is making a killing. Literally! The latest incident occurred yesterday.
Memphis Police Department told Fox 13 they responded to an incident relating to Facebook Live in the 1500 block of Madison early Saturday morning.
They asserted that a man set himself on fire in an attempt to kill himself while streaming his apparent suicide.
The victim’s ex-girlfriend Alyssa Moore identified the man has Jared McLemore. Fox 13 reported the man has a history of domestic violence. He has threatened to kill her, police said. She said the man did this to himself outside her place of employment to make a statement.
When law enforcement arrived on scene, they discovered a male with severe burns. The man was rushed to Regional One in critical condition, but he later died from his injuries.
They also told Fox 13 that they found another man who suffered burns by trying to help. He tried to kick the lighter away from the man setting himself on fire. He was rushed to Regional One in non-critical condition.
