To the Board Members and Executive Team of Walmart,
As a law-abiding gun owner, instructor, firearm small business owner and Second Amendment advocate, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your decision to stop the sale of some types of ammunition at your stores.
We recognize that anti-gun and anti-freedom influencers have provided strong emotionally based arguments that contributed to a decision punishing millions of law-abiding gun owners for the actions of criminals and psychopaths. The fact that rifles of any type are used to commit less homicides than hands and feet was probably conveniently left out by those “experts”.
They also likely failed to mention that the CDC estimates that law abiding citizens use their firearms to protect themselves more than 6,000 times every day, many times without firing a shot. Unfortunately, we expect that from those that leave out facts when they lack convenience.
We also recognize that you justify your decision with a false support of the absolute right enshrined in the Second Amendment. Saying, “I support something, but…” means that you do not support that thing. Would you care to remember that the Second Amendment applies to all arms, from muskets to machine guns and sticks to swords, you will be on the right path to truly support the Second Amendment.
Did you know that Law Enforcement Today has a private new home for those who support emergency responders and veterans? It’s called LET Unity, and it’s where we share the untold stories of those patriotic Americans. Every penny gets reinvested into giving these heroes a voice. Check it out today.
Finally, we want to enthusiastically thank you for your decision to cease carrying certain types of ammunition. You reported that you control 20 percent of the ammunition market and estimate that to drop to 6 percent. Your choice will allow thousands of small businesses like mine a chance to better serve those customers that you have rejected. We are also better equipped to offer firearm safety education opportunities through our training department than your organization. Those who will find our business through your decision will be exposed to more opportunities for firearm safety education than your business model allows. We are excited to welcome those looking for a friendly environment serving all their firearm needs with a focus on creating a culture of responsible firearm ownership.
In closing, I would like to extend an invitation to any members of your team that would like to learn more about firearms and firearm safety. Ignorant and misguided attitudes toward firearms and the Second Amendment only serve to further divide our great nation and stoke fears on both sides of the issue. Our doors are open to you at any time to answer any questions on any firearm-related topic. Through education, we can combat firearm ignorance and continue to build a culture of responsible firearm ownership.
Respectfully, Scott Pulaski
