Immigration, the legal kind, is a wonderful concept. When practiced rationally, we’re able to bring in some of the best and brightest from all over the globe who aspire to prosper within the United States and who also align with the values and the culture associated with this country.
However, we start running into issues when we become so welcoming that we begin to integrate into our melting pot cultures that don’t just slightly contradict ours, but actually want to wipe Americans off the face of the Earth.
Nothing speaks more to this than the now ongoing trial related to the New York bike path murders from 2017.
According to a report from Breitbart, the ISIS terror suspect who appeared in court this past Monday had managed to come into the United States via the infamous “Diversity Visa Lottery”, a program that has now been heavily contested due to its found faults in screening potential candidates.
The man on trial has been accused of murdering eight people in New York City, to which he proclaimed that he was merely “following orders of Allah.”
In October 2017, 31-year-old Uzbek national Sayfullo Saipov allegedly mowed down eight individuals in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York City after securing a visa in 2010 through the Diversity Visa Lottery, which President Trump has asked Congress to end.
The October incident was an act of pure sinister intent, where the accused had allegedly drove a Home Depot rental truck onto the wrong of the road, aiming for a busy bike lane filled with cyclists and pedestrians.

The massacre was not far from where the World Trade Center terrorist attack had happened in 2001, it’s undetermined if that was intentional or not. After striking several people, witnesses say he crashed deliberately into a school bus carrying at least three children as well.
The Diversity Visa Lottery randomly doles out about 55,000 visas every year to foreign nationals from a multitude of countries. One of the biggest areas of concerns that are cited by the programs critics is the fact that this lottery also includes those countries that are toting known terrorist problems – such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Syria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Yemen, and Uzbekistan.
While not every resident in a country that has terroristic issues are de facto terrorists, more scrutiny has to be applied when reviewing residency and visa applications from those regions; with attacks like this cropping up it shows that the vetting system needs significant work.
According to a report by the New York Post, Saipov told U.S. Southern District of New York Judge Vernon Broderick that he has no respect for his authority because he only follows the word of Allah.
Saipov stated in court: “The orders issued here have nothing to do with me. I am following orders of Allah, who gave me life.”
Saipov then defended the alleged murder of eight people by asking Broderick why he judged him for the terrorist act but excused “those who are killing thousands and millions of Muslims over the world.”

Saipov, after securing his visa in 2010, was eventually able to obtain a green card. According to reports, apparently the Federal Bureau of Investigation was surveilling Saipov up until the day before he allegedly went on the terror spree.
With the surveilled suspect having been watched up until the point of the attack happening, it makes one wonder if this entire ordeal could’ve been prevented with better immigration policies.
Just a few weeks ago, reports surfaced that ISIS had begun pushing its American and European followers to begin setting fires in order to cause mass destruction.
According to the Free Beacon, radicals have been using an extremist-controlled media outlets to send a message to their followers across Europe and the United States, urging them to begin setting forest fires and burning countries to the ground.
The goal of the Islamic State is to reportedly cause mass ecological damage and create a massive public health crisis that would dismantle certain areas of the United States as well as European nations, according to an online forum occupied by the terrorist group.
In addition to the messages being spread over the air to anyone who might be listening and influenced by the messages encouraging terrorism, ISIS members have also reportedly begun displaying propaganda posters with a similar message.
“Oh monotheists [ISIS followers], ignite fires in the forests and fields, and we are addressing especially those who live in Europe and America, for they are painful to them,” the posters read.
The Washington Examiner reported that the Middle East Media Research Institute keeps tabs on messages between extremist groups. They noted that the first of these propaganda flyers began appearing back in April, but began resurfacing.
The institute says that the newest flyers went so far as to single out the individual countries that followers should set their sights on and attack.
“Ignite fires in the forests of America, France, Britain, and Germany, for they are painful to them,” the latest one read.

This comes while part of our country is already in flames. California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency over the raging forest fires that have become all too routine year after year.
