ORANGE COUNTY, Flo. – A frantic 911 call from an 8-year-old Florida boy helped lead to the arrest of his stepfather, who now faces murder charges.

According to reports from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, 36-year-old Jason Lindsey was arrested after deputies responded to a panicked call from Lindsey’s step son. During the call, the boy told dispatchers that his stepdad was strangling his mom, Tynell Lindsey.

On the recording of the call, the boy was distraught and can reportedly be heard screaming at Lindsey to stop.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered Jason Lindsey leaving a walk-in closet in the master bedroom. He was covered in blood. Inside the closet, police found the body of the boy’s mother, bloody and unresponsive.

Orange County Fire Rescue took Tynell Lindsey to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Jason Lindsey then reportedly told responding deputies that he had gotten into a heated argument with his wife. When it escalated, he said, he strangled her and stabbed her repeatedly as she lay defenseless.

Tynell was unarmed, yet Jason claimed that he was just defending himself, the affidavit noted. He told investigators that during the couple’s six-year relationship, Tynell had been physically abusing him. He claimed that she had stabbed him twice in the past after confronting him about suspected cheating.

Jason then reportedly claimed that on the night of her death, Tynell had once again accused Jason of cheating and “rushed” at him scratching his face with her nails. Those scratch marks can be seen in his mugshot, but it is unclear if they were from the original incident or part of the struggle that followed.

Jason said that Tynell then went to another room to grab a small kitchen knife and then again came at him. He told deputies he “kinda lost it” after getting the knife away from her. That’s when he allegedly grabbed his wife by the throat and stabbed her while continuing to strangle her.

When he heard his mother’s cries for help, the young boy rushed to the bedroom and discovered the grisly scene. That’s when he called the police for help.

Tynell Lindsey’s cousin, Jermaine Gwinn, said that regardless of the situation, the crime wasn’t justified.

“You took her away from her family man. She wasn’t just his wife, she was a mother, she was a sister, she was a cousin, she was an aunt,” Gwinn said. “My cousin is a loving person, she was a loving person. Don’t get it twisted, her life is going to live through us.”

Jason Lindsey was arrested and charged with second degree murder. He is being held in custody in Orange County Jail without bond.
