Anne Arundel County Police are reporting what they are describing as a significant drug seizure that stemmed from a traffic stop in Severna Park.

Investigators say thousands of dollars of drugs have been taken off the streets.

On February 23, 2010, at approximately 7:54 p.m., Officer Padgett of the Eastern District was patrolling in the area of Ritchie Highway and McKinsey Road in Severna Park when he conducted a traffic stop on a 2002 GMC Yukon for a traffic violation.

The officer approached the vehicle, began speaking with the occupants and immediately detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 137 grams of powdered and “crack” cocaine with an estimated street value of $13,700. Additionally, officers recovered $4,000 in U.S. currency, a small amount of marijuana, a knife and a slapjack weapon from inside of the vehicle. The GMC Yukon truck was seized and four adult subjects in the vehicle were taken into custody.

Detectives from the Special Enforcement Section were notified and continued the investigation. During the investigation, search warrants were executed during the early morning hours of February 24, 2010, at 7853 Levy Court in Glen Burnie, Maryland and at 4110 Old Millford Mill Road in the Pikesville area of Baltimore County. During the search, additional cocaine was located along with two guns and more U.S. currency.

The cumulative results of the investigation yielded a total of 680 grams of powdered and “crack” cocaine with an estimated street value of $68,000, eight grams of suspected marijuana with an estimated street value of $80.00, $62,231 in U.S. currency, one .45 caliber pistol, one .40 caliber assault rifle and the GMC sport utility vehicle. The following suspects were arrested and charged: Glen Anthony Davis, 40, of 7853 Levy Court in Pasadena, Maryland, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of cocaine, Lenelle Marlo Sims, 39, of 2817 Cunningham Drive in Baltimore, Maryland, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, Christopher James Mehl, 48, of 20 Silpanna Road Apartment #1 in Annapolis, Maryland, was charged with possession of a deadly weapon and Earl Leon Davis, Jr., 41, of no fixed address, was charged with possession of a deadly weapon.

“I commend Chief Teare and the police department on their investigation and this significant drug seizure,” said County Executive John R. Leopold. “Fewer drugs and guns on the streets mean a better quality of life for our citizens.”
